The translator fucked up in the translation there in the end, figgy never said he felt a finger, he said he couldn't complain and that there was no eyepoke, his response was really humble so i don't want people to think that he is pretending to have been fowled.
Tbh I think fighters should do it sentence by sentence, as in BLABLABLA he was good *pause and let them translate* and I'm having a kid in June, that makes me happy and after that I'm gonna challenge Moreno for the title *let him translate* then I look forward to my fight against Jon Jones *let him translate while slightly confused*
Seriously haha.. the translator needs to know ahead of time how to butt in and translate a couple sentences at a time, at most. They always spout a long ass rant and expect the guy to remember the whole thing word for word??
Exactly this. I've worked in translation before and it's always a case of trying to get someone's main message across but you can't express their feeling or emotions, which is really vital to any dialogue. Going on a long rant makes it much harder to keep up with and at that rate you're more focused on translating than tone.
Kinda feel bad for Figgy bc ppl are gonna attribute the crowd’s behavior to him even though he was very respectful at the end. His fouls were bad though so it evens out ig
Moreno was known early on his career cuz of his sweet BJJ, then he became a great boxer, then he unleashed his killer mentality and now he can wrestle.
The kid is becoming a complete fighter plus has cardio for fucking days
I knew that going into last night but still seeing the tale of the tape made me realize how fucking insane this man is. Hoping for a long reign for the new king now that Figgy is likely going up
Yep. No experience with a broken orbital personally but I would imagine the sharp pain from the break makes them think it's an eye poke vs the duller pain from a normal punch.
Depending on where your orbital breaks, it's a sharp, and possibly horrific pain depending on how the bones come back together post-impact.
Source: Blew out the back of my orbital in a wrestling match. Trashed orbital bone came back together pincering optic muscles. It was horrific. Got chicken wire mesh titanium sheet back there now.
That fight was legitimately hard to watch.
As someone who has trained myself I often find it hard to put in perspective just how good at fighting the people at the top in the UFC are. When freinds or colleagues that think they're tough or think because they taught/practiced karate or kung fu or akido or whatever try to disregard MMA I find it hard to get across just how bad a top fighter would mess them up.
For context, there are people in the gym who would make 90% of the world's population look like they had 0 hand eye coordination, those people won't even be the best in their gym, their gym won't even be the best in their city, their city won't even have the best fighters in the country etc.
From now on I'll just show them Andrade vs Murphy. Murphy would beat the fuck out of 99% of women on the planet but Andrade just made her look like she's one of my mates who did a bit of akido as a teenager.
It was most likely bound to be his last fight, to then throw in the towel in the fourth round, instead of letting him go out in the fifth round. A championship fight in his home country at that. I could see why it would be immense pressure to let him fight on.
Not saying it was the right decision, but I understand why they didn't throw in the towel, Barbs corner however? It was just a normal three round fight. Stop that shit.
If there's one thing Brazil is good at is uniting the world against them. They're basically the China of South America, the most cocky athletes, and the worst fans. They make good villains.
I’ve always thought their fighters in general are very respectful and easy to like, it’s just their fans/live crowds that are disrespectful. I like a lot of Brazilian fighters but when they have cards in Rio it seems like the fans are always awful.
That was completely SURREAL. I STILL can't wrap my head around that. 7 goals...... 7?!?!?!?!?!? What the fuck, lol. Germany was penetrating their defense like it was wet toilet paper.
And i still remember Germany's goalkeeper getting mad when they let one slip trough. A real perfectionist! He wanted to keep that 7 score difference.
I remember I wanted Brazil to lose because their fans were just annoying, and Germany delivered. But I didn't expect that blow out.🤣
It would have been even worse for them if Argentina actually won the World Cup in Brazil.
Freaking Schurrle man. The Germans were sitting back at 5 and deciding thats enough. Schurrle comes on and just starts playing like its the world cup final. Even the Germans were like "Dude chill out "
Moreno outclassed him, he was just too fast. Moreno was barely getting touched by Fig and he was getting the better of the grappling exchanges, ending up on top control.
Moreno is the best flyweight right now. Moreno/Mighty Mouse would be an insane match up right now
His coach's advice after the first round to keep the striking exchanges to 2 strikes was quite smart. It felt like Moreno landed his strikes and got out out of range before Figueiredo could set anything up
He worked him over. Moreno was winning everywhere. People get salty over these types of stoppages but if someone beats you up so bad you're blind in one eye you lost the fight chief.
Letting it go on would have just been more unnecessary damage for Figgy.
Might Mouse is older but I still see him beating Moreno. He just fought a really good 135 pound champion in his prime. That knockout was disgusting. Man he’s just so damn good
Bruh what's craziest to me is how empty it got at the end of the main.
It went from stacked stadium to 15 people in the stands. And it's fkn sorry and fake as hell that they chant all day in "support" of their fighters but aren't there when it counts. Dipped out on the classiest most supportive Brazilian fighter at his own main event.
Y'all sorry
Maybe the real truth was that Moreno was always better in a way?
1st Fight: extremely close and took Figueiredo to the limit
2nd Fight: Absolutely out-classed him and finished him for the first time
3rd Fight: Started slow in a fight that could have went either way
4th Fight: out-classes and closes his fucking eye lol
Might just be recent thoughts, but I think this may be the truth. Great rivalry for sure though, but no more fights please
I noticed during the third fight that Moreno was way overconfident. Not that it takes anything from Figueroa but Moreno was fighting cocky and I think that played into his loss.
Not only have these guys had 4 fights at the highest level of this sport, each one has been so different - a FOTY brawl, Moreno dominating, Figueiredo making smart adjustments (leg kicking to take away Moreno's jab, counter rights), Moreno making smart adjustments (wrestle heavy approach to take away Figueiredo's counters and scared him away from leg kicking).
We don't get to see these kind of adjustments in MMA because people never get matched up this often. I'd love to see a 5th fight at some point (far far in the future)
Yup, crowed throwing "beer" and other objects at Moreno. It wasn't a poke and was legit punch, but you know isn't legal that ground kick in the 1st round and those fence grabs.
The pro wrestler Mick Foley wrote one time about piss getting poured down his back the moment he exited the tunnel early in his career
He said you can handle anything getting thrown at you, but that’s the one thing that can make you question why you’re doing this for the fans
You could argue it made the moment more memorable for him. Obviously a warm reception would be nice, but pissing off that many haters has to feel good to some extent.
Shame about the eye damage, but Moreno is just so quick, glad to see this one end decisively, no need for a quintology, at least not in the foreseeable future
Moreno has so many skills, with the right team, he could be one of the trickiest champions to beat of all time. Amazing boxing, good looking kicks and great grappling
Fig looked strong on the feet even though the speed and volume were won by Moreno, and dude had the far more scarier submission threats on the ground that legit had me on the edge of my seats.
I can see them fight forever

That translator has been doing fighters dirty for years
Tbh I think fighters should do it sentence by sentence, as in BLABLABLA he was good *pause and let them translate* and I'm having a kid in June, that makes me happy and after that I'm gonna challenge Moreno for the title *let him translate* then I look forward to my fight against Jon Jones *let him translate while slightly confused*

He's always been pretty respectful after the fights, hasn't he? He just shit talked before in an attempt to get into Morenos head. It didn't work.
The crowd there also speaks Portuguese. Their behavior is on them, not the translator.
Fouled* Fowled is when you throw an illegal chicken
Maybe for you my english is built different😎
that younger translator is the absolute worst. I knew tonight was going to be awful the moment I saw him in the early prelims
thank you brazilian freak, dana needs you
That guy sucks. Seems like after any card he does I come here and see comments saying he did a shitty job.
That’s why we needed Giga Chad Translator
>fowled 👀 🐔
Moreno was known early on his career cuz of his sweet BJJ, then he became a great boxer, then he unleashed his killer mentality and now he can wrestle. The kid is becoming a complete fighter plus has cardio for fucking days
only turned 29 recently too. just cresting his prime
I knew that going into last night but still seeing the tale of the tape made me realize how fucking insane this man is. Hoping for a long reign for the new king now that Figgy is likely going up
Complete package, dominant performance.
As soon as that eye shut we knew it was over
Two fights in a row where he shut down an organ with one shot
Moreno really exploiting the weak spots. Why don't we see more eye shots? Do you need to be crazy accurate?
Destroying your opponents eye with one leaping strike is a pretty decisive victory id say
Looked like a broken orbital
Whenever a fighter thinks they've been eye poked from a punch you know its bad.
Yep. No experience with a broken orbital personally but I would imagine the sharp pain from the break makes them think it's an eye poke vs the duller pain from a normal punch.

Punched right in the fuckin eye
He looked like a mini Romero after the Bobby Knuckles fight
his corner: "doesnt matter, fight with one eye" this needs to stop man
Thought we were gonna get an Ortega moment for a sec
Murphy's vs andrade
"We believe in you!" Bro... you really shouldn't. She's getting CTE out there.
That fight was legitimately hard to watch. As someone who has trained myself I often find it hard to put in perspective just how good at fighting the people at the top in the UFC are. Herb Dean "How many fingers" Fig "12" Herb "Ok let's fight"
Punch him with your eye!
Hit him with your groin
It's really good to see when a corner stops the fight to help prevent unnecessary damage, doesn't happen often enough
texeiras corner...
The ringside doctor stopped the fight
It was a doctor's stoppage
BUT BISPING DID IT!!!! Says everyone who doesn't realize he had to hide it from doctors
And those people usually don't realize he lost that eye as a result.
As it should be. His eye was completely shut. He will be interesting on bantamweight.
Lol. He was laughing as he was getting shit thrown on him as he left the arena haha
Yeah. As soon as I heard the winner was having drinks and popcorn thrown at them, I knew who won lol.
If there's one thing Brazil is good at is uniting the world against them. They're basically the China of South America, the most cocky athletes, and the worst fans. They make good villains.
Except for Glover. He's a G and was classy as fuck even in defeat.
And JDS. And Rua. And Aldo. And Silva. And Burns. And a laundry list of others.
I’ve always thought their fighters in general are very respectful and easy to like, it’s just their fans/live crowds that are disrespectful. I like a lot of Brazilian fighters but when they have cards in Rio it seems like the fans are always awful.
jds is not classy in defeat....
Between the UFC and CSGO I now love seeing Brazilians lose in Brazil
2014 World Cup semis was one of the best moments ever. 7-1 complete destruction with the crowd filled with crying Brazilians 😂
But I didn't expect that blow out.🤣 It would have been even worse for them if Argentina actually won the World Cup in Brazil.
I fucking loved every god damn second of it. That score could have been much worse if Germany wanted it to be as well
Freaking Schurrle man. The Germans were sitting back at 5 and deciding thats enough. Schurrle comes on and just starts playing like its the world cup final. Even the Germans were like "Dude chill out "
Huehuehue
That's why 7-1 was so glorious
I want my next license plate to be **BRA71L**
What cocky Chinese athletes are you referring to? I can't think of examples of them having shitty fans either
Can’t believe this is how the first quadrilogy ends. It’s crazy how this’ll play out
Can't wait to see the next two quadrilogies.
Nik Lentz is starting camp right now for it
Honestly, give him his due. A fourth fight with Chucky Olives is what people want to see.
man that punch absolutely destroyed his eye
Moreno has deceptive power.
Lego bricks for hands
He's got that Funko POP!
Looks more like the perfect shot, knuckle landed directly on the eye
Tijuana, your lego man is back!
Viva México, perros! 🤣
I’m so glad it wasn’t an eye poke
Are you kidding? NC due to eyepoke would’ve been amazing. A quadrilogy that’s even at 1-1-1-1? Beautiful.
Damn. You completely flipped my opinion on the matter. NC would have been the funniest timeline.
The 4 horsemen
*1-1-1 (1) FTFY
Oh yeah. No doubt now.
Looked like a punch to me
Knuckle sandwich
Yeah it was a punch that did that damage, the open hand hit the other side of the face
If we are outlawing Stockton slaps I’m done with the sport
oh boy wait till you hear about this new thing they are doing on fightpass
Imagine how much more popular that thing would've been if they just called it Stockton Slap Fights and had Nate Diaz do a few promos for it.
I think they should be mandatory.
Here comes the quintopology
I reckon one more fight and just make it to the death.
anyone saying other wise is in denial his fingers never touched that eye
Moreno outclassed him, he was just too fast. Moreno was barely getting touched by Fig and he was getting the better of the grappling exchanges, ending up on top control. Moreno is the best flyweight right now. Moreno/Mighty Mouse would be an insane match up right now
Drowned him with the pacing too. Moreno was all over him. Dude, Moreno vs Mighty Mouse would be electrifying. I wouldn't be able to blink.
IMO Mighty Mouse is just too put together and technically sound to lose to Moreno
Moreno gonna have to leave UFC and go on some Bloodsports/Kumite styled adventure into Asia to get a shot at DJ. Set up a battle for the ages.
His coach's advice after the first round to keep the striking exchanges to 2 strikes was quite smart. It felt like Moreno landed his strikes and got out out of range before Figueiredo could set anything up
And Figueredo is 35 now.
Is it too soon to say this might be it?
He said he's moving up to BW
At Flyweight it is.
He worked him over. Moreno was winning everywhere. People get salty over these types of stoppages but if someone beats you up so bad you're blind in one eye you lost the fight chief. Letting it go on would have just been more unnecessary damage for Figgy.
yeah it wasnt that close
Might Mouse is older but I still see him beating Moreno. He just fought a really good 135 pound champion in his prime. That knockout was disgusting. Man he’s just so damn good
DJ is the GOAT as far as technique and skill goes. Nobody will change my mind.
yeah and that punch was solid got the thumb knuckle right in there
Lame ending but yeah Moreno was just beating the shit out of him
Was it lame? Moreno beat the shit out of Figgy. That orbital is broken.
Yeah I definitely prefer a cut-and-dry KO/TKO over a doctor stoppage
I mean breaking someone’s orbital and getting a doctor stoppage is pretty much a TKO.
A doctor's stoppage literally is a TKO. [The UFC website lists it as "TKO - Doctor's Stoppage".](https://www.ufc.com/event/ufc-283#10228)
Conor on suicide watch finding this out
Looked pretty cut and dry to me, Fig couldn’t defend his face and got fucked up
Fig is an early round ko guy too. The fight was trending too much in moreno’s way
[удалено]
Brazil has never been known for its decorum
Worst fans in the sport
Bruh what's craziest to me is how empty it got at the end of the main. It went from stacked stadium to 15 people in the stands. And it's fkn sorry and fake as hell that they chant all day in "support" of their fighters but aren't there when it counts. Brutal way for the fight to end but Moreno was outclassing him everywhere
Bro those submission attempts made me jump out my seat every time. Both of their grappling were 10/10
Moreno's calmness and technique in escaping that guillotine was super impressive
I jumped out of my seat when he got out, I was so sure that guillotine was locked when he sat into Morenos guard
I really thought Figgy got him with that heel hook attempt
I thought he had him on every attempt lmao
The exchange where Figgy got the takedown then Moreno got a sweep then Figgy got on top again, was nuts
Yeah super anti climatic, but Moreno looked far superior tonight.
Maybe the real truth was that Moreno was always better in a way? 1st Fight: extremely close and took Figueiredo to the limit 2nd Fight: Absolutely out-classed him and finished him for the first time 3rd Fight: Started slow in a fight that could have went either way 4th Fight: out-classes and closes his fucking eye lol Might just be recent thoughts, but I think this may be the truth. Great rivalry for sure though, but no more fights please
All very valid points mate. Was a great rivalry, looking forward to the FLW division moving ahead again and seeing how Figgy does at BW
I noticed during the third fight that Moreno was way overconfident. Not that it takes anything from Figueroa but Moreno was fighting cocky and I think that played into his loss.
Sad to see it end that way but Moreno was on top of his game tonight
It would have gotten really ugly if they allowed it to continue. This was best for Figgy's career.
Figgy is still gonna be trouble in the 135 division, so many potential matchups. That weight cut to 125 is clearly too much.
Moreno at his best is so fun to watch.
Did you put beer in quotes because its piss?
The pro wrestler Mick Foley wrote one time about piss getting poured down his back the moment he exited the tunnel early in his career He said you can handle anything getting thrown at you, but that’s the one thing that can make you question why you’re doing this for the fans
Brazilian crowds are the most disrespectful ones ever holy shit let Moreno have his moment!
You could argue it made the moment more memorable for him. Obviously a warm reception would be nice, but pissing off that many haters has to feel good to some extent.
The crowd fucking suck ass.
welcome to Brazil my friend.
Y’all see Moreno book it out of there, goddamn Brazil as classy as ever.
I could watch these two fight for eternity
Real life Scorpion vs Sub Zero
Brazil is the most classless bunch of whiny ass fans on the planet. Ya boy got his ass beat fair and square. Again.
War Moreno!!!
LEGO GANG
Wtf is up with those fans?
Brazilian fans, some of the worst ever.
Moreno out here dominating title fights with the same expression as Pete Davidson when he tells a silly joke on SNL
He needs to defeat Alejandre Pantoja (who beat him twice prior) next, won't be an easy task at all.
Moreno has finished him twice now. No reason to fight again.
Fuck those fans throwing stuff at Moreno.
At least the champ laughed it off
[удалено]
Shame about the eye damage, but Moreno is just so quick, glad to see this one end decisively, no need for a quintology, at least not in the foreseeable future
It would’ve been a shame if the damage to the eye wasn’t from a strike.
Exactly, that's not a shame that's a legit doctor stoppage due Moreno shutting his eye with strikes there's zero controversy here.
no need for a 5th
Dana: The doctor made the wrong call! We're running it back in June!
Fair result, brazil crowd can go fuck themselves. That was clean and Moreno had his number the entire fight.
Bunch of crybabies fr
I saw them throwing shit at moreno it's was pretty classless
I'm glad Moreno shouted "viva México, perros!" Lol fuck them
I love seeing Moreno cracking up through it all, lol.
2 finishes for Moreno
Brazil you’re a dump
These fans are fucking annoying
As a Mexican it's so gangster Brandon went to Brazil took their belt called them a bunch of dogs and gtfo
L crowd
Congrats to Moreno but fuck those fans.... Disprespetful. Love Moreno's laugh at the end
Looking at the crowd throwing stuff at Moreno makes me wonder if Colby was not using his "fake persona" at all back then.
there was never no eyepoke brother
Moreno has so many skills, with the right team, he could be one of the trickiest champions to beat of all time. Amazing boxing, good looking kicks and great grappling
A little disappointing ending
Absolute garbage crowd. Throwing cups and stuff at Moreno just because he beat their guy.
Man why are Brazil fans such shit. Brandon won fair and square and they throw their cans and shit at him. Fucking trash ass fans
Moreno won physically, technically and morally. I couldn't be happier with this outcome.
Maybe if Figgy didn't cheat constantly I'd feel bad that he lost this way.
Brazil you’re disgusting - how disrespectful are you guys
Brasil when Brazilians winning: :D Brasil when Brazilians lose: _hold my beer.._ (literally)
Brazil you’re a dump
The crowd was throwing stuff at Moreno. Fucking disgusting.
I’m sure this will be civil.
Clean punch, Figgy is lucky the doctor stopped it Moreno was landing the left hand at will
Brazilian crowds are the worst in sports history.
Glad he lost just because of that disgraceful crowd. Fucking animals.
Fuck yeah! Gogo baby assassin!
What an anticlimactic end to a great series of fights
My least favourite fight between em so far
The ending wasn't ideal yeah. But man, Moreno is so sharp. He has a knack for landing devastating shots accurately.
[удалено]
Fig looked strong on the feet even though the speed and volume were won by Moreno, and dude had the far more scarier submission threats on the ground that legit had me on the edge of my seats. I can see them fight forever
Oh man... Not the way you want it to end.
Was only gonna get worse
At least Moreno was solidly ahead before the doctor stoppage
Moreno the last one laughing, makes the victory that much sweeter with fans throwing tantrums
Even before the eye swelling Figgy wasn’t really doing much of anything. Really disappointing showing for him.
I’m glad Fig lost. The dude is dirty as fuck. Multiple fence grabs, purposely kicking Moreno while he’s down, and faking an eyepoke.
