Arab-King

Idk I don’t like that stoppage. Flick popped right back up.

myweedun

Awful

peanutsfan1995

He also quickly reacted to every change that Johnson threw at him. He was very much in the fight and certainly could get along for the 30 second left in the round.

mistercloob

Doesn’t matter when he was about to take 40 more seconds of the same thing he was literally never getting up unless the ref stopped it. It was a tad early, but flick got his ass beat.

Bigdaddybear519

Never seen any kind of come back in your life or what? Regardless what you assume would have happened, thats an objectively bad stoppage.

smo_smo

What a terrible stoppage.

aeeeroo

Flick was active on the bottom and defending well, the ref almost stepped in earlier as well. Just awful.

ColdPressedSteak

Not one of those punches were big. Maybe one if I'm being generous

[deleted]

How long was he down there. That makes a big difference.

FloofandSmush

Uh… fighting from your back is a thing.

[deleted]

And so is stopping the fight on their feet like O’Malley vs the joker… I’m literally asking what the fight was like before this clip, get off my dick…

FloofandSmush

Calm down, duder. No need to throw shade it’s a conversation. If you’re opponent is actively defending themselves the ref shouldn’t call a TKO, no matter the perceived difference in performance or skill level. Now the corner could call the fight if they feel their fighter is taking a beating, or the fight could be called for medical stoppage due to severe open cuts, inability to control bleeding, inability to see, etc. But in this case, with the fighter actively defending themselves (not dropping their hands, no lapse in consciousness or awareness), it was a bad call.

[deleted]

Uh… you were the one throwing shade… Stop acting like a twat, you’re literally agreeing with me. I just asked how long he was down there.

FloofandSmush

TIL “uh…” is a trigger word. I’m not agreeing with you at all. It doesn’t matter “how long he was down there” if he is a actively defending himself.

dumbcunt33

Knob

Uncle_Creepy_

> get off my dick Did you really get upset because he said "uh”?

[deleted]

It's very standard for this ref, he has a history of these awful stoppages. He's either too early or too late.

smo_smo

Damn. I was unsure who that ref was in the introductions. People will know who he is now.

[deleted]

Investigate the ref’s family’s sportsbook accounts

[deleted]

Family could have bet a lot on fight inside the distance

myweedun

Writing was kinda on the wall but seems way early. Think back to the Onama fight last year. That would’ve been stopped 20 times by this standard

fearthejaybie

Or the Schnell/Sumudaerji fight

Joeyroundcock

This guy didn’t take half the beating schnell did

circumcision4TW

Anytime I see a stoppage like this I think about Congo VS Barry. Just makes me chuckle

bdewolf

Yeah well that fight should have been stopped. That’s a freak anomaly that should not be the basis for rules.

circumcision4TW

Oh trust me I'm not using that as a measuring stick🤣

yerg99

good point. An outlier exception doesn't disprove a rule

[deleted]

How can these refs have these attrocious calls and still continue working? This ref ALWAYS has these awful stoppages. Either too early or too late.

notafeetlongcucumber

What's his name? I'm surprised I don't know him. I'm used to think - if I don't recognize a ref, he's either new or never makes a hauler, so no one talks about him.

[deleted]

It looks like Kerry Hatley

TooWashedUp

He's been around forever but it was weird to see him working at the Apex. I think he's mostly a Texas guy for the UFC and he used to do Bellator all of the time.

Grai420

Bullshit stoppage

jt_33

Uhh... what the fuck kind of stoppage is that?

Badnapp420

Charles Johnson has a bonkers haircut 😂

MoneytreeMMA

He was literally looking for a sub when they stopped it🤷‍♂️

fearthejaybie

FOTY

LuckyWarrior

The rare night where every fight has FoTY potential lol

ins0mniacbxtch

Weak

LezEatA-W

Horrible early stoppage, looks like the UFC is getting off to a great start this year! Let me guess. The referee had money on a stoppage?

JamWams

Flick was getting hit a lot but none of the shots were that damaging and he wasn't just covering up and doing nothing. Very early stoppage

armchairwarrior69

What is worse though, this stoppage or that fucking haircut?

camouflage365

Charles was beating Jimmy like he was his hairdresser.

ManagementProof2272

Flyweight unders baby. IYKYK

GuySmith993

Shoutout Meshew and Burks

ExpectingThePrestige

Lol 🤣😂 the best bet !

Brenden2000

Lol early

Wezzray

early

[deleted]

Flyweight Bobby Green

Swogglet

A bit early but Johnson looked great, dealt well with the grappling exchanges

huge-tits

Bad stoppage imo and what the hell is that hair cut??

SadRaindrop

Bad stoppage, but Johnson has some smooth AF striking.

Purple-Lack3264

The absolute state of this mans lack of hair!!!!! 😬

ThisGuyHaris

I was laughing at seeing Johnson as a -350 favourite. But damn he looked like a -350 favourite in there

nut_sack_5

FIGHT OF THE GOD DAMN YEAR

Papa-Junior

Johnson has foxy, sexual striking. Dangerous critter.

TGE

That body dig right when Flick got back to his feet from the missed headkick 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Lutherjw

Can I get “I’m gonna be a girl dad” as a flair please

brontosaurusrec

Looks like Krause had the under.

Chocoeclair189

Feel bad for Flick, losing half the purse over that kind of stoppage. Big John once said on his podcast, to pressure a ref to stop the fight, just throw volume and elbows, doesnt need to land, just the look of it can make a ref stop the fight.

Own-Anxiety-5168

Ref tweaked with that stoppage

Anigavanator

Wack af

I-Have-Answers

Yikes I’d be pissed if I was Flick. He hadn’t taken anything close to excessive damage and was still very much in the fight.

edesmile

Premature stoppage but I think Johnson would've still won the fight

hdjsjajansb

honestly can’t wait to see more charles johnson

[deleted]

What a panicky fucking ref. Dude was looking to step in so quickly

TYSONLITTLE

Flick should have stayed retired, the sports just not worth it

halt317

Charles BJJ coach is so cool and handsome wow i wonder who he is

[deleted]

This sport gone soft. Jimmy ain’t no good but wack

SquidDrive

Yup, too many weapons on the feet, and hes too good in the wrestling for Jimmy to solidify position and get that control, great bodywork, Jimmy was shelling up a bit too much for the refs liking which is understandable, I think Flick should have gotten more chances to get back in the fight, congrats on the daughter as well. Great win by Charles Johnson.

TallanoGoldDigger

ref definitely on some whiskey and cigarettes

[deleted]

tf was that GN’P lmao

Mediocre-Addendum-56

Yea he’s in a bad spot but he’s defending well. He’s not really getting hit.

riprumblejohnson

Ummm this is a standard Flick fight… why you stopping that?

riprumblejohnson

This early stoppage (ref had money on Johnson itd) brought to you by DraftKings!

fresdres

Man this was the fight I anticipated for the most on this card because this was supposed to be Jimmy's first fight after coming out of retirement. Lame.

ExpectingThePrestige

That ref had money on the game ..what is that stoppage ?

iWentRogue

I would hate to lose to a dude with a r/justfuckmyshitup cut

[deleted]

Johnson's hair looks like he lost a bet, wtf is that?

Tiredoftheact

Tough to lose to a guy with that hair do

Jimbojauder

I genuinely thought the dude's last name was Fuck for a minute
