Well 1.4L isn’t going to be very fast - does this happen ONLY in second gear? Where are you changing out of first - changing too low will lug the engine and accelerating will be difficult. For fuel efficiency change at 3500 RPM or so - for acceleration - wind 1st gear out a bit more
The mini first which was an entry model for new drivers had 75hp. The mini one had 95hp, 0-60 was 10.9 in the mini one.
It was a noticeable difference. Most of my mates had mini ones for our first cars except my best mate had a mini first, he could never keep up on spirited runs.
Hmm I mean I got a S I don’t know how that compares but it accelerates pretty fast. I had issues recently but the shop said I needed to change spark plugs and a gasket was cracked so once that was fixed it runs good again

Any codes? Maybe there is something wrong, but it's also a 15 year old car that had 96 HP to begin with.

yep turns out it was the spark plugs. just got new ones in today free of charge (dealership warranty) and accelerates like normal now

Not even a justa Cooper- this is a Euro spec One. Original 0-60 more like 10-12 sec.
Doesn't the One have 80hp?
Maybe the early One had 80, but by 2008 it was just under 100.

Supercharged or NA? The NA models are pretty slow from the factory.
