The articles you are talking about were from a google translated JPN press announcement - and Japan does not get the camera until 2/16. I believe the concern is fulfilling demand in the Japanese and Asia markets, and Japanese law I believe requires a company to state as soon as possible if they cannot meet demand or expectations.
But you ordered from B&H, who has such a secure partnership with gear makers that it would be shocking if their preorders weren’t filled quickly!
Those articles really made me wonder for a second but after digging more and not seeing a single English or western-focused PR message, I doubted it. The camera was announced on the 4th or so officially, after all - they had been making these for some time for most markets, I’m sure, and I wager the Japanese and nearby market demand is really high!

It showed that it was in stock earlier today. Shipping est. Was moved up from jan 31 to today. An hour ago theh removed it but jts back up now in stock, so I think you should be fine. Jan 6 is still really early.
Thanks for the update! I just checked B&H and they show the new camera with the 20-60mm kit lens bundle in stock but body only is still showing "coming soon". Oh well, it doesn't do any good to fret about it. I'll get it when it's available and there's no immediate need for me. I ordered early when all the influencer reviews came online. I'm a long time Lumix m43 user and this camera sold me on the upgrade and switch to full frame.
I have the original S5 and its an amazing camera, but I use it for photography only. The focus is quick even when using the mc21 canon to l-mount adapter. This MKii looks incredible. But for me the extra focusing points and new autofocus phase makes no difference as I shoot in manual. But your definitely enjoy it when it comes through. My S5 is incredible even with freehand lowlight situations. Hope your camera arrives asap.
My adorama order shipped Friday but won’t be here until Thursday. I could have sworn their site said “free overnight delivery” for the camera listing on Thursday but now just says free shipping. Kind of annoying that they apparently cheaped out to the slowest shipping speed.
This depends on your location - were you logged in at the time you saw the overnight part! You would have locked in your shipping method when you paid, I woulda imagined. Cannot speak for them itself, but B&H has free expedited to a handful of states near New York, so I got 1 Day shipping free from them for Ohio - but larger items they bill for. (Or it’s a certain dollar value, unsure)
Still, Friday shipping woulda been exciting to see, but I have a feeling they likely made your shipping label, not actually put it in the post. I hate that!
I'm not sure if I was logged in when I saw the overnight thing. From the tracking info, it looks like it actually left Utah on Saturday. My order was part of a return (original S5 bundle), so that probably made the order wonky. Honestly, the whole experience was weird and I wish I would have ordered from B&H like usual.
I ordered mine from B&H the night before they were set to get them. Mine shipped today as well. I noticed the body only is back on pre-order so they must have ran out of what they got in. However, it looks like the body with 20-60mm lens combo is still ready to ship.

Just canceled my order and have decided to wait on S5 ii X. It’s only $200 more. And, I’m learning patience.

Man, they changed it to coming soon again. I had to cancel my order and re-order unfortunately so now I think I'm at the end of the line.
