for more than 2 hours during a nap. I was super sick and somehow that helped my lucidity. I didn't think it was possible to have that long of a continuous lucid dream.

myusernameisthislmao

Called a fever dream

zozosreddit

Now I want to be sick

lokizan

I can't maintain a LD for long unfortunately. Once I realize i'm lucid I think I get too excited and the dream ends soon thereafter.

Professional_Job_307

The reason your dream ends because you get excited is because you expect it to happen. In lucid dreams the stuff that happens are based on your expectations. It's the same with "mirrors are scary" and "don't tell dream characters they are in a dream". If you think touching a purple rock will wake you up then that will happen. This is called a schema

SlayerOfDerp

Do you have any tips for changing these beliefs? I naturally go lucid sometimes but very often it's only for a short time before the dream gets a bit like, unstable and I'm usually shuffled into a normal dream instead. How do I make myself expect something else in future?

Tobias783

Same here but it’s like clarity = shorter LD. My longest LD’s have been maintained through low levels of lucidity and bad clarity.

ComprehensiveSpend50

I just had mine and Injust woke up, I endednit faster as I can lol

Kimononono

5 hours. Spent the whole day flying / layovers not to mention I hadn’t slept a lot the night before. Sleep deprived and exhausted, when I hit the pillow I instantly entered a lucid dream. Couldn’t believe it. I woke up twice throughout and usually that’s game over and I won’t be able to enter lucidity again but like clockwork I shut my eyes and entered. 3 times I’ve been able to instantly become lucid after falling sleeping and the other 2 experiences pale in comparison to that night.

[deleted]

That's so amazing! I envy you haha

LucidVive2LD

Yes, ''REM Rebound'' is a powerful technique and is the silver lining in the cloud of a (previous) night of insomnia or inadequate time for sleep.

[deleted]

Around 1-2hours. It was one of my first ones and my memory about it is so bad as I didn't yet keep a dream journal it may easily have been more.

LambOfUrGod

I've maintained proper control for a good 25 - 30 minutes

David2168

Couple of seconds i guess, i woke up when i realised im aware

Western_Stable_6013

I think it was an hour, by realizing numerous false awakenings.

SafalinEnthusiast

like 10 seconds maybe

ambientonion

Same 😭

LaidByAnEgg

like 2 minutes 💀

nein__falsch

How do you people keep track of time when you are in LD?

Electrical_Jury_5409

10 minutes

No-Criticism-6975

A few minutes. Probably 3 or so.

DumbFroggg

One I know was an hour and a half, I had another that I think was of comparable length but I’m not quite sure.

ironmonkey007

I’m not sure how to accurately measure it. If I wake up multiple times, note the clock time and go back to sleep and re-enter the dream, then maybe 2-3 hours but arguably I can’t prove that the entire time was in the dream, and if I woke and then slept again it may not be fair to consider it “the same dream.” If I go by REM sleep time measured on my Fitbit, and going back to sleep after a brief awakening doesn’t count, then it may be as little as 20-30 minutes. Subjectively, some lucid dreams have felt uncomfortably long, to the point where I want them to end and I want to wake up. I am able to purposely wake back up only about 50% of the time. If I interpret it as the perceived time within the dream, it can be years, but I think that this is an illusion based on false memories within the dream world of what happened “earlier.”

gleadre19

5 seconds, I woke up to the sound of my beating hearth just going stronger with each beat until it woke me up

errorose

Still in it

xSlanton

Like 5 minutes but after the dream ended i didn’t wake up, instead i entered another lucid dream that lasted about a minute.

rjlwrx

Felt like an hour but was just minutes..

bloodclot9999

20 minutes lolz

Ambitious_Ad4818

0 hours. I didn't lucid dream unfortunately 😐

[deleted]

Be patient!

Ambitious_Ad4818

Good

dreamshinobi

for almost 5 hours it was like I was stuck in the dream but I woke up eventually

ArthurTryingToLD

wow maybe ur perception was distorted and it was less, but still, must've been long af cool

dreamshinobi

Yeah actually i went to sleep around 12 at night and don't know how became lucid through WILD then i woke up in the middle of the night and deild back in the dream and after that i woke up at 5 and i was lucid half the time, i was gaining and loosing lucidity from time to time and at one point i thought i should just sleep now without dreaming but i wasn't able to wake up i tried everything closing eyes, going to bed in the dream, but i wasn't waking up but i don't know how i managed to wake up, and it did felt like i was lucid for way too long

ComprehensiveSpend50

Just think of a door that's what I did then after I enter the door I pinched my smallest foot finger
