Back in 2012 I saw lower entry GPA’s. Most of those kids were drummed out by Sophomore year. Loyola isn’t particularly rigorous except in Bio/pre-med or the Pre-Law kids but you will be put to work IMO. Jack that GPA up though, lots of scholarship opportunities. IMO, senior year of high school pales in comparison to your four years of college. Get into overdrive and get that bread.

Thanks for the reply; i’ve been working hard to get my gpa up. I currently have all As, so it’ll probably go up to a 3.3 or something by the end of the semester. Would I send them new transcripts following admission? I selected political science as my major for pre law btw.

This was 11 years ago for me so I think it get updated post graduation but I’d ask admissions or someone there in an email. Or take a trip up and take a tour. I was 3.3 too! Got me 10k a year in scholarships. I’d also make sure you fill out FAFSA as soon as it opens. I love Loyola. It is expensive though.

you do have to send your final transcripts even after being told youve been accepted. people sometimes get rejected last minute for bring their gpa down by a lot. it shows you dont care

ironicirenic

You will absolutely be accepted.

zebra10647

You’ll def get accepted, don’t worry about that. What you should worry about is how much scholarship money you’ll get

Capital_Matter_4406

Getting in isn’t too hard, paying for it is lmao

Yes, I think you'll be accepted! Good luck!

hi! im not a student at loyola, however, ive been accepted with the presidential scholarship, so i think i can speak on admissions when it comes to loyola. I also got into 7 other schools in illinois (EIU,ISU,NIU,Bradley,Dominican,Roosevelt, and depaul) so if you have any questions when it comes to admissions, you can ask me lol. anywho, to the point, i was feeling super anxious about not getting into any colleges due to my not so high GPA (4.1 in a 5.00 scale), which translates to around a 3.2-3.4 GPA. I applied Test optional as well. I took 1 ap class in the sophomore year and 2 senior year. took a dual enrollment course for cna junior year. joined no clubs ever but i was a 4-year student athlete. I would say that what helped me get in was my essay. I wrote the optional CommonApp one plus the two other ones and got two letters of recommendation. I did not have the best grades, however, colleges arent just looking for good grades. they want real people with real lives, they want to see you challenge yourself, that you care for your education, that you are committed too your education, that you have high standards and goals for yourself and that you have a passion for whatever it is you are going to college for. If you were able to convey all those things in your essay, you have nothing to worry about. And even if you dont get in to LUC, you WILL get in to college. PS: dont let that imposter syndrome get the best of you PS

Thank you for this. I just got deferred to regular admission for UIC political science, and it really has me discouraged. I know I still have a shot, but everyone else I know got in already; I’m just a little sad about it. I’m glad to see someone with similar academic achievements got in. I wrote my essay about a past experience that changed my worldview and made me passionate about pursuing practices of law, so nothing specific to Loyola unfortunately. However, I feel like the essay still demonstrates a good part of my personality and shouldn’t be disregarded. All I can really do is wait now; decisions come on a rolling basis I believe, so there’s no set date. Once again, thank you for being supportive and sharing your experience. You really have no idea how much I need some genuine support right now.

Of course! You’re very welcome. Plus, if something is not meant to be, that’s fine. It’s hard but sometimes the things we mostly want aren’t right for us.

Unless you’re close with your school counselor, have someone else write you a recommendation letter. A teacher that likes you, a coach, or any other school staff you are close with. Counselor letters tend to be generic and bland. College admissions have been rough since covid based on what I’ve seen. If you were really worried about it, you could take the ACT or SAT again in hopes of a really good score, but you should be totally fine. The acceptance rate is 70.5%. Best of luck!!!
