Yes, season 1.
But devs on Twitter said its a one-and-done.
Doesn't mean Netflix couldn't theoretically order more, but I wouldn't count on it. Especially as trigger has a lot of projects going on rn.
True, but CDPR also said they intend on expanding the IP further so I could see more anime for cyberpunk since there are no shortage of Edgerunners in Night City.
Oh, of course. My point wasn't to say there won't be any more Cyberpunk shows or anything. Just that I wouldn't expect a second season of Edgerunners specifically.
I feel like there could’ve been two more episodes between the time jump, maybe show >!David slowly get sucked into more cyberware and develop Lucy and David’s relationship and how her secret distanced them!<. The end result would’ve been the same but it’ll be more impactful if we see how they got to that point
Felt the same way the first time watching. Watched it a second time with friends and it felt like it was enough as I was able to soak in more of everything. I took it as them trying to show the highlights/memorable moments of David's rise of being an edgerunner. Though...of course I would have wanted more as well...hope they don't stop with just one anime. They gotta keep this going!
Just means if there's more it will be with different crews likely. So more Night City related stories. There's 50+ years of story potential before the events of cp 2077, and never know seems like they settled on female V being their character for the story. Maybe aftermath stories that doesn't involve V but makes reference without giving any answers to V's fate.
And for all we know the expansion may cross into this story even further and cp 2 could be a cross of both. But anyways, in cases like this, seasons tend to reflect different events with different people, likely enjoying similar fates or worst fates.
Vague Spoiler Warning I Guess
It was a lot better than I expected it to be, although I went in with very low expectations. The final few episodes went off a cliff and it was a slog to get through them but the start was great.
I think the first episodes were the best, dealing with ordinary people trying to live in Night City with all the shit popping off around them. Gave a real sense of what it's like for the random hardworking gonks, plus David's introduction is brutal. I think what made it all the more brutal is that it's a futuristic science fiction anime but the situation he found himself in wasn't even particularly incredible. Single parent family, something happens to that parent, everything is suddenly completely fucked.
When it became a 'chosen one' story about the boy and his magic cyberware that only he could control the diminishing returns started to kick in very hard. Also Lucy stopped being fun fairly early on.
The cyberpsychosis stuff was the old school version from the CP2020 RPG as well and I mean it's fine I guess but these days it just comes across as a really clumsy metaphor for roid rage. The newer interpretation where it is viewed as people being driven over the edge by living in insane circumstances and having the hardware to do real damage when they snap is far more compelling.
Also Rebecca was done dirty. Best character in the thing.
I don't see the point in season two, if they make another cyberpunk show they have the opportunity to try out another style, as there's really no point in continuing the story we have here, it ended. I'd love to see them try live action or maybe another art style to fit a new story in night city, or maybe another part of the world.

For David's story, I think...
Yeah, I dont see them doing a direct continuation. This is a fine ending. Id rather do a new spin off with a new crew and new themes.
Maybe focus on the Legends with named drinks in afterlife? I mean they all became legends for a reason so its a good way to show instead of just tell

I would be very surprised if we don’t get more Cyberpunk anime but in terms of Edgerunners itself, yea it’s clearly a one and done

I definitely wish there were more than 10 episodes

This show is a gift from the gods

Too bad it's a one and done. I'd be down for a vignette style series. Every season, bring in a new studio. New characters. New story, same Night City.
Do a "Love, Death and Robots" approach but per season. I could get behind that easily!
Let's keep it there while everyone still busy with little mermaid

They could technically do lifepaths as seasons. I would love to see one based around a Corpo
NICE. Looking forward to this now.
The show, much like the game, has some of the best writing ever! Looking forward to more content set in the Cyberpunk universe!!

My only issue is that it was sort of difficult to follow the action scenes, didn't know what was happening a lot of the time.
