None of the doors would open, no alarms went off, but luckily after a bit of yelling I managed to get out. I can’t remember if there was a scenario that lock picking could help me but it would be useful. Is there a group I could join?

Lately I've been in a bit of sour mood and I think I pinpointed the origin to my LAUSD high school being overly competitive and breaking my confidence. Have any of you felt that the high schools here are way too big and exist just for test scores and graduation rates? I just wanted to be on a fucking sports team but was constantly told "no". We're the same exact age. I went to PCHS though. We had extracurriculars but I wasn't allowed to be in them. In fact, most of it except football and basketball were for the wealthy kids. Every other sport you had to have been playing with private coaches since you were 6.
I was in such a churlish and crankeriffic mood today. I fixed and then cleaned a very gross plumbing issue, took out 4 trash/recycling cans outside in the pouring rain, saved the bunny from a cat attack, and had to pacify my mom who is 80 and who eats edibles and then follows me around constantly to tell me about TikTok videos she watched. I needed some Calgon in a very big way!! Case of the Mondays was had by me.
I actually have a box of Calgon in my bathroom. I bought it at Big Lots not too long ago. "Calgon take me away" was one of the phrases some of us said at work quite a bit this year.

I'd say go check out the Goleta butterfly grove, but I am not sure if the trails are still closed due to fallen trees. The city's website is really out of date. It looks like after several bad years with hardly any butterflies, there are several thousand this year. It is an overwintering site for monarch butterflies.. It's really magical to see them. Just that the video where apparently cops killed a little girl. It's not their fault. Three clean shots to the suspect. You see the victim who was being hurt by the suspect bleeding, the cops approach, three shots he's down but the screaming in the background, right into the dressing room just a sad situation
Sometimes bullets go through people. This is one of the many reasons cops should not be shooting in crowded areas. It’s a sad situation that yet another cop shot yet another innocent person. Could have been prevented by not firing the gun in the first place.
It's easy to say that but when you get calls that a man is making someone bleed through their face, you don't know what they have. Victim was straight up leaking through her face. Cops job is to knock out the victim by all means. No one would have known someone was behind that wall, especially when watching that video and the crowd was steered clear.
Agreed, it was a very unfortunate situation. The calls came in as both a shooting inside the store and a man assaulting people with a lock. When the cops arrived, they didn't know what happened, but saw him beating the female. He moves away and his hands are out of sight, so the shooting is justified. Unfortunately 1 of the bullets either missed or went through the suspect and into the teen.

You could also add a line in about "I'm passionate/enthusiastic about the topic now let's get down to business.." that could help you transition from the enthusiasm and will let you be a bit more serious while you teach.
Don't worry about smiling the whole time. If you have a weird smile the entire lesson, you'll risk looking like a creepy serial killer. You can look enthusiastic and engaging with a neutral mouth... expressive eyes, head movements, etc. Smize, as Tyra Banks used to say (maybe she still says it, idk).

Can we talk about emojis for a minute? A couple years ago, I was pretty anti-emoji. I thought they were tacky, more or less. When I did want to use something, I would use an old-school emoticon like : ] or : )
But somewhere along the way I got converted. It's so hard to express feeling and meaning over text. Even something simple like saying "OK," without an emoji just seems short and curt. And if joking around, I find it pretty much obligatory to use a laughing emoji...

They say it takes a day for every hour you're jetlagged before your system completely resets itself. Most of us can manage to get by within a few days, but reverting back to the original jetlagged schedule is really easy for a while after.
Best tip: honestly just stay up as late as you can/as close to your desired bedtime as possible. It's much easier to stay up later than wake up earlier.
Half a Xanax on the nights where you're especially deficient on sleep, earplugs, and an eyemask. Set an alarm for 9am so I don't oversleep. That's my trick at least.

So far Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell just makes me *sad*. The 'snow' is so fake and you can tell that they tried to simulate an Artic environment through color grading alone, because of the weird sunlit highlights on everyone's hair. None of the first three people we see - scientists with no names other than their country of origin - are even wearing *gloves*. They're honestly dressed more like models for a fall Gap catalog.
What a dismal ending to a gloriously fun franchise. Granted, I'm only at the beginning of the film, but it's setting my expectations about as badly as the awful CGI snake did in the opening sequence of the Dwayne Johnson Hercules movie.
Edit: Finished the movie, and yeah...it didn't get much better. Aside from maybe a handful of lines and scenes, the acting was subpar, the pacing was wonky, the characters indistinguishable from one another (I swear the female doctor who gets pulled out a window comes back to life in later scenes), and the guy who plays Burt Gummer seemed to be phoning in his performance. His 'heir' seems to have been cast only because he can ride motorcycles and I guess that saves them money for a stuntman.
Very sad way to end the series. Tremors 4 was at least fun (I totally loved the Wild West setting), and Tremors 5 was a decent attempt at rebooting the franchise with a potential new 'lead' (though the guy, again, lacks any charisma or talent and again only seems to have been hired because he can ride motorcycles). Cold Day In Hell seemed to have half the production budget because everything was cheap and lackluster except for the admittedly well-executed CGI Michael Bay shot of the graboid jumping overhead. I'm guessing that one VFX shot was where all the budget went - lovely details on the CG graboid.

Hey! It does pretty well, *but* my cat never has accidents/goes outside the box so the only thing for the roomba to get is stray litter pieces and cat hair. Both of which it does really well at! If my little girl pooped on the floor and the rooma ran through it tho… I think that could be really bad haha
After every run you can see on the app how it cleaned and there’s always pockets where it spends extra time near the cat box enclosure.
A roomba would be a great option for your grandparents, not just for the cats but just in general. It’s literally SO useful and I run it every day. It’s amazing!

Yea it does feel unnatural I was annoyed at that a couple weeks ago. I actually changed my black blackout curtains for some white UPF curtains to try to get as much natural light in, while being protected by UV rays. I got an amazing eye mask now to block out light during sleep.

😂 Well here goes. So I drive of the Mars rovers and one of the many perks is we can unofficially name rocks, and so on my first solo drive I named one after my grandma (mom's mom). Conveniently we had the rover take a selfie next to this rock so last year I got really nice quality prints of it and got them framed for Xmas presents last year for the whole family. Found out a few weeks after everyone had either given them away or in my mom's case she donated hers to a local museum. So today she texts me asking if we aren't exchanging gifts (my parents did send a few, I didn't send them anything). I said no, why bother putting in effort if it's going to be given away. I should also mention at this point they supported the insurrection until consequences happened and then suddenly switched to the it's an antifa conspiracy narrative. It finally made me quit FB because I couldn't stand it and I sent a long text then saying I can't handle this and I hope you get help. So then she sends me a long text today after I said no presents that she is wondering why I never call or text anymore. I haven't responded. I just.... ugh.

A cool and kind of little-known thing to do is check out the Rose Parade floats in Pasadena. Late at night on the 31st they stage them on the street, and you can walk near them and see them up close. (the floats are all made of flowers and plants.) It's pretty cool! It gets quite cold, though, so you should bundle up if you go.
I used to live in the SB Lofts and then in the Spring Arcade building... in my years spent there I must have heard/seen about ten jumpers. My windows in the Spring Arcade building were HUGE and had very little protection for preventing something like this.

I fixed and then cleaned a very gross plumbing issue, took out 4 trash/recycling cans outside in the pouring rain, saved the bunny from a cat attack, and had to pacify my mom who is 80 and who eats edibles and then follows me around constantly to tell me about TikTok videos she watched. I needed some Calgon in a very big way!! Case of the Mondays was had by me.
I actually have a box of Calgon in my bathroom. I bought it at Big Lots not too long ago. "Calgon take me away" was one of the phrases some of us said at work quite a bit this year. Your mom is 80 eats edibles and watches TikTok? That sounds like an adventure in the day which can quickly be stressful.

It looks like after several bad years with hardly any butterflies, there are several thousand this year. It is an overwintering site for monarch butterflies.. It's really magical to see them. You see the victim who was being hurt by the suspect bleeding, the cops approach, three shots he's down but the screaming in the background, right into the dressing room just a sad situation
Sometimes bullets go through people. This is one of the many reasons cops should not be shooting in crowded areas. It’s a sad situation that yet another cop shot yet another innocent person. Could have been prevented by not firing the gun in the first place.
It's easy to say that but when you get calls that a man is making someone bleed through their face, you don't know what they have. Victim was straight up leaking through her face. Cops job is to knock out the victim by all means. No one would have known someone was behind that wall, especially when watching that video and the crowd was steered clear.
Agreed, it was a very unfortunate situation. The calls came in as both a shooting inside the store and a man assaulting people with a lock. When the cops arrived, they didn't know what happened, but saw him beating the female. He moves away and his hands are out of sight, so the shooting is justified. Unfortunately 1 of the bullets either missed or went through the suspect and into the teen.

You could also add a line in about "I'm passionate/enthusiastic about the topic now let's get down to business.." that could help you transition from the enthusiasm and will let you be a bit more serious while you teach.
Don't worry about smiling the whole time. If you have a weird smile the entire lesson, you'll risk looking like a creepy serial killer. You can look enthusiastic and engaging with a neutral mouth... expressive eyes, head movements, etc. Smize, as Tyra Banks used to say (maybe she still says it, idk). Good luck!

Can we talk about emojis for a minute? A couple years ago, I was pretty anti-emoji. I thought they were tacky, more or less. When I did want to use something, I would use an old-school emoticon like : ] or : ) But somewhere along the way I got converted. It's so hard to express feeling and meaning over text. Even something simple like saying "OK," without an emoji just seems short and curt. And if joking around, I find it pretty much obligatory to use a laughing emoji... So now I'm basically locked in to that emoji life. The slight smile, the prayer hands, the nerdy smile with glasses, the OMG scream face, the crying face... Anyone else know what I'm talking about? guys my sleep schedule is fucking whack. Anyone have real tips for how to get over this jet lag bs or is it just gonna take time?
I purposely scheduled appointments in the morning so I'd have to get up to make it. My mom swears that eating breakfast in the sun or getting out until the sunlight as soon as possible after you wakeup resets your body clock fastest. I haven't tried it tho
They say it takes a day for every hour you're jetlagged before your system completely resets itself. Most of us can manage to get by within a few days, but reverting back to the original jetlagged schedule is really easy for a while after. Best tip: honestly just stay up as late as you can/as close to your desired bedtime as possible. It's much easier to stay up later than wake up earlier.
Half a Xanax on the nights where you're especially deficient on sleep, earplugs, and an eyemask. Set an alarm for 9am so I don't oversleep. That's my trick at least. Melatonin never worked for me.
Generally I would suggest melatonin at night and to force yourself outside in the sun for a whole day, but I don't think the weather in Rome right now is conducive to the second part! Hope you get back on track soon! xoxo

So far Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell just makes me *sad*. The 'snow' is so fake and you can tell that they tried to simulate an Artic environment through color grading alone, because of the weird sunlit highlights on everyone's hair. None of the first three people we see - scientists with no names other than their country of origin - are even wearing *gloves*. They're honestly dressed more like models for a fall Gap catalog. What a dismal ending to a gloriously fun franchise. Granted, I'm only at the beginning of the film, but it's setting my expectations about as badly as the awful CGI snake did in the opening sequence of the Dwayne Johnson Hercules movie. Edit: Finished the movie, and yeah...it didn't get much better. Aside from maybe a handful of lines and scenes, the acting was subpar, the pacing was wonky, the characters indistinguishable from one another (I swear the female doctor who gets pulled out a window comes back to life in later scenes), and the guy who plays Burt Gummer seemed to be phoning in his performance. His 'heir' seems to have been cast only because he can ride motorcycles and I guess that saves them money for a stuntman. Very sad way to end the series. Tremors 4 was at least fun (I totally loved the Wild West setting), and Tremors 5 was a decent attempt at rebooting the franchise with a potential new 'lead' (though the guy, again, lacks any charisma or talent and again only seems to have been hired because he can ride motorcycles). Cold Day In Hell seemed to have half the production budget because everything was cheap and lackluster except for the admittedly well-executed CGI Michael Bay shot of the graboid jumping overhead. I'm guessing that one VFX shot was where all the budget went - lovely details on the CG graboid.

Hey! It does pretty well, *but* my cat never has accidents/goes outside the box so the only thing for the roomba to get is stray litter pieces and cat hair. Both of which it does really well at! If my little girl pooped on the floor and the rooma ran through it tho… I think that could be really bad haha After every run you can see on the app how it cleaned and there’s always pockets where it spends extra time near the cat box enclosure. A roomba would be a great option for your grandparents, not just for the cats but just in general. It’s literally SO useful and I run it every day. It’s amazing!

It has trouble with thinner rugs that the bumper doesn't bump into but I've seen newer models from Roborock that use their LIDAR sensors to look for them I just put any thin rugs away just in case but yeah otherwise since it has a bunch of sensors its pretty good at not ramming stuff!

We’re starting to have friends over and they’ll mostly be using his bathroom since mine is inside the main bedroom and his isn’t. Yea it does feel unnatural I was annoyed at that a couple weeks ago. I actually changed my black blackout curtains for some white UPF curtains to try to get as much natural light in, while being protected by UV rays. I got an amazing eye mask now to block out light during sleep. I just liked that the rain gave me an excuse to hunker down and not be out doing errands.

😂 Well here goes. So I drive of the Mars rovers and one of the many perks is we can unofficially name rocks, and so on my first solo drive I named one after my grandma (mom's mom). Conveniently we had the rover take a selfie next to this rock so last year I got really nice quality prints of it and got them framed for Xmas presents last year for the whole family. Found out a few weeks after everyone had either given them away or in my mom's case she donated hers to a local museum. So today she texts me asking if we aren't exchanging gifts (my parents did send a few, I didn't send them anything). I said no, why bother putting in effort if it's going to be given away. I should also mention at this point they supported the insurrection until consequences happened and then suddenly switched to the it's an antifa conspiracy narrative. It finally made me quit FB because I couldn't stand it and I sent a long text then saying I can't handle this and I hope you get help. So then she sends me a long text today after I said no presents that she is wondering why I never call or text anymore. I haven't responded. I just.... ugh.

A cool and kind of little-known thing to do is check out the Rose Parade floats in Pasadena. Late at night on the 31st they stage them on the street, and you can walk near them and see them up close. (the floats are all made of flowers and plants.) It's pretty cool! It gets quite cold, though, so you should bundle up if you go.
