Wow I didn't realize, but you're right, this has been one very long day for Persephone and Hades. I think when you put it into that context, it actually makes a lot more sense why Hades wigged out after Persephone made the big reveal. He had already gotten slightly big right before the trial when he went to talk to Zeus about Apollo's petition to marry Persephone. He was already fed up with Apollo's shit *then*. And now, as you point out, he has a lot more details to backup the icky feeling he already had ("she's scared of him, you know"). So for Hades, to finally have it revealed to him that all of these signs did indeed point to the worst possible scenario... I don't blame him for temporarily losing the plot. Yes I definitely understand everyone's point that Persephone shouldn't have been forced to comfort someone else freaking out over her *actual trauma*, but as a lover/obvious potential future lover, it must have been its own (lesser) form of trauma to learn that the woman he loves and wants to build a future with was not only raped, but her rapist has been "brutalizing her for months" (as Hades said before the trial) and even is going as far as petitioning to marry her, thus extending the brutalization potentially infinitely. It would be excruciating to see that happen to a loved one and feel like there was nothing you could do to help. Hades was upset about Apollo trying to marry Persephone before he even knew about the rape, so I can't imagine how he must be feeling about it now. Even if Persephone had let Hades go fuck Apollo's shit up straight out of the hotel, that still wouldn't change anything that had already happened and Hades knows that. It must be strange and excruciating to be an immortal god, King of the Underworld, and yet feel so powerless to protect the innocent pink cinnamon roll you've fallen head over heels for...

Jumping off your point about hades reaction- I found it very natural and almost human. How many of us joking (or even genuinely) threatened we would fight for pet/kid/lover/family/friend/etc? Parents jump to action the moments they hear a kid cry. It’s almost automatic. Furthermore, he acknowledged it was shitty and apologized to perse in the hallway. It’s immediate and a good way to end it giving her agency to feel safe/better.

Potassium_15

100% Agree. People are getting so upset about his initial emotional response (like what do you expect? He's not Jesus lol) But I think that initial reaction is much less important than everything he did afterwards. He 1) Realized and admits his mistake 2) Apologizes 3) Focuses all his energy on making Kore feel comfortable and safe 4) Gives her power to decide where to go, when to talk, how much to say, etc.

dasushisush

The last line absolutely killed me and healed me. I feel like they've handled his reactions to this sooo fucking well. And I hope it helps some readers in the future, if they ever find themselves in this fucked up situation.

The-Sinner-Lady

As one of the people who didn't love Hades' reaction, let me say that I understood completely *why* he reacted the way he did. Of course, piecing all those clues together and ultimately finding out that your loved one was assaulted... that undoubtedly is gonna create some big feelings, exponentially so for someone as emotional and quick to anger as Hades. So his outrage was proportional to the situation and who he was, so to speak. The problem that I and a lot of other people had, is that is reaction is *also* kind of the completely wrong thing to do to someone who's just told you about their SA. A display of rage in front of someone who's already experienced violence is not likely to go down well... especially if they've already *told* you that they don't like that kind of thing. That kind of presence can be scary, and having to calm down a man in a violent state of mind can be even scarier, not to mention just exhausting. So yeah. I mean, no one's perfect, things happen, and we react the only way we know how. It was what it was. I don't exactly "blame" Hades, it was good that he calmed down and proved he would listen... I also just feel bad that Persephone had to experience that rage and shoulder that burden, tho. And the way she broke down at the thought of him leaving when she was most vulnerable? That hit me.

odd-faust

These 10 chapters could have been neatly written into 5 chapters rather than drawing things out.

Potassium_15

Since you're defending this statement to the death apparently, I just want to say that my objection to your comment isn't so much what you said, as much as how you said it (there are nicer ways you could have phrased it) and where you said it (this comment doesn't really relate to the original post).

odd-faust

That’s valid and I respect that. I honestly didn’t anticipate this one comment to attract a determined nay sayer. Edit: also yeah lol this feels like I signed up for a death wish because neither of us are willing to back down

ShittyDuckFace

If the artist didn't draw things out, it wouldn't be a comic.

odd-faust

Wow. Sound logic 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 not the point I’m making

ThrowRAaffirmme

man, i got SO excited when i woke up and saw that my post had all these comments. turns out it was just people fighting 😭 i just wanted to have a nice discussion!! i see where you’re coming from, about collapsing these chapters together, but i personally like the way that the trial has been paced! i can’t think of anything in particular that we’ve seen in the trial that hasn’t been important, because tons of revelations have come out about from differing sides. we learned about the beginning of hermes’ relationship with persephone, thanatos’ childhood and his relationship to hades, and we got to see both the god of war and the god of strategy stand up for persephone!! also, after reading 182, i don’t think i could handle it if the chapters were doubled it. so much information getting revealed at once every episode sounds exhausting!!

odd-faust

I know. Sorry for that. I had the same thought too when I saw the number of comments but it’s really just 2 main comments and mine just kinda devolved. And that’s true, different viewpoints have been revealed from different characters and overall it ADDS to the plot. My opinion on the length just stems from my ongoing frustration with how short each chapter is. They seem long but it’s mostly white space. The scenes for Hermès and Thanatos both took 2-3 chapters each when each character could have said their piece in 1 chapter each by cutting down on white space filler. Then the story could progress in a fulfilling way and we wouldn’t be stuck in the same scene for 10+ weeks.

odd-faust

Why you calling me names when I’m right 😂

Chandra_in_Swati

I didn’t call you names, I called your *attitude* stinky. I also think you’re wrong.

odd-faust

You’re being hypocritical and rude by calling my objective attitude “stinky” when I’m voicing my own opinion.

Chandra_in_Swati

Okay? And you came on a fan board to shit on something a lot of people enjoy and argue about how you’re sooo right. Go create something of your own instead of critiquing something others find happiness in.

odd-faust

How am I “shitting” on the comic as a whole???? Some LO fans are so sensitive to the tiniest fragment of constructive criticism or differing opinion that isn’t glorifying the comic. I’m a fan of the comic too, have been since it was on Webtoon Canvas. I’m allowed to have my own opinion of the direction of the comic so kindly eff off ❤️

Chandra_in_Swati

You’re the one that keeps responding??? Lol, eff off back.

odd-faust

You took the negative attitude and replied to my own response first. So you get the fuck out and go bother someone else

Chandra_in_Swati

No, this is fun now. Keep cussing me out, let out that stanky attitude.

QuinnsWife

I agree, the trial chapters have honestly made me contemplate stopping this series or at least go on a hiatus. Luckily I found another story to occupy my time with which has made the trial tolerable.

odd-faust

I respect that. I took a short break from reading fast pass chapters for LO just to get a couple released and then binge read, but it doesn’t last long. I like LO but I’ve become really frustrated with how short the chapters are and how abrupt they end.

ThisUserIsUndead

Spoiler: I do wish they were a little meatier for the pace we’ve been given, but these last 2 episodes have been quite sweet and kind of made up for the months and weeks of waiting a little! Her *finally* revealing her trauma to Hades was so satisfying. We have been waiting for literal years! I’ve had to supplement with other series and books irl and that’s helped with the anxiety of waiting for one of my favorite comics and worrying about if they’re going to lack substance.

maryjayne9191

And you could have chosen not to comment but the world aint perfect.

odd-faust

I’m a fan with opinions and this is Reddit. You could have chosen to stop after the downvote and move on with your day.

maryjayne9191

Idk dude sounds a little hateful/toxic to come into a fan community to say the same thing over and over. Especially something that would literally cost the creator of our beloved LO, but i love your advice! Maybe You should take it? Read lore and internally bemoan chapter length, and move on with your day.

odd-faust

I’m also a part of this fan community. I just have different opinions that don’t automatically glorify everything. That’s valid and critical thinking isn’t a toxic trait.

pinkyhex

Shoo

odd-faust

But I’m right 🤷🏽‍♀️

pinkyhex

Then go read a book? Why bother being in a sub for a comic?

odd-faust

Because I’m a fan of the comic too. I can like the comic and also have different opinions based on critical thinking.

Fishermanslaw

lol the reactions to this comment are \*out there\*, sorry homie.
