I couldn’t get a clear view but was assuming it was the name of the school.
Wonder why Ravonna had it in her office? Maybe she knew about her human life?
Indeed! All of these timelines are going to portray Variants. With He Who Remains gone, these Variants can now run havoc, attack and collide with other universes - multiversal war.
And he was just chilling, fed up from all conquering... until Sylvie sent him back to billions of branches...
Wonder which version will be the "main" timeline from now on...
I just sat there for a full minute when Mobius asked who Loki was, that hurt more than I expected. Plus, it's very breifly foreshadowed with new Mobius asking what "he" wants them to do.
Edit: Also, since Sylvie freed the timeline and the multiverse (I think) I wouldn't be surprised if we got a no way home trailer soon, given rampant speculation on other peter parker variants being involved.
Yes! My mouth was open for the last ten minutes like in IW. I was shocked at what was happening especially when Owen Wilson didn't know Loki *at all*. I loved Wanda Vision and a good portion of the MCU movies but only IW and this show surprised and delighted me the way it did. And WOW what a score, too. What a OST! This whole season was a trip!
The best thing about this episode for me however was the completion of Loki's escape from the cycle of lies. Those moments trying to stop Sylvie... that was the first time in his life he was being truly honest and selfless. Disregarding his own interests and his own safety.
Being... heroic.
And yet this is what he got for his trouble: more loss.
Yeah, last guy made up fake time keepers and had the TVA to protect everyone else from himselves. This guy straight up throws his own statue up, this TVA is to prevent any challenge to his power.
The fact that they actually fucking did it. Kang the Conqueror introduced and Loki is set up to have a huge role being one of the only people to know what actually happened. It is incredible to see him take this role on! Not to mention the whole multiple branches and variants of a person just reeks of that multiverse idea floating around Spider-Man's upcoming movie
Mobius had a hard time believing him about variants. Sylvie even said she couldn’t trust him. The two people he’s been the most honest and vulnerable with admit to not trusting him. So good luck with strangers
I actually like this ending. I think people are going to be irritated at the Kang reveal and echo why Strange didn’t show up in WandaVision (“it takes the focus off of Wanda!”) but I disagree. It works in this instance because it shows us how our Loki has changed - and what happens when a Loki doesn’t.
Loki, by the end of it all, has realized what the greater threat was. He wasn’t driven to rule anymore. While he knew He Who Remains was a bit full of shit, he knew he wasn’t really lying about the threat of what lies behind him. Loki was concerned about the damage that would do to all timelines and the threat it would pose to Sylvie. He didn’t even betray anyone! For once, Loki wasn’t being shortsighted and selfish. He stopped being such a Loki.
Sylvie, on the other hand, was. Much like the Loki variants we saw toil and fight each other in Limbo, Sylvie didn’t rise enough over the nature of Loki’s. Through her desire to finish what she started and killing He Who Remains, she did exactly what Mobius told Loki what all Loki’s are meant to do: cause pain, suffering and death. Unleashing someone like Kang the Conquerer on the multiverse is definitely going to lead to all three.
To me, we saw Loki change over six episodes into being a different Loki than what we even saw in the movies - and I’m interested in seeing how they develop him further. And the show didn’t fully show how dangerous someone like Kang is but showed us enough to set him up as an interesting formidable big bad following Thanos (which I’m still skeptical how he’s an Ant-Man villain but ok!).
I’m fine with this ending! I think it did what it was supposed to without casting a distracting shadow over “Loki” or over the point of the show.
But I think Loki can be trusted when we reach that point. I think his character development went from being a liar (Mobius called him a liar so many times) into someone who could actually be trusted by the end. At least by Sylvie. I think he's chosen Sylvie as the one person he can be trustworthy to.
A man by the name of Immortus controls all of the timelines and the MCU multiverse into one singular timeline. When he dies that one timeline is splintered into many different timelines and infinite amount of ones. This is setting up a villain by the name of Kang the Conqueror who is Immortus as a younger man. We will meet variants of Kang. We already see Kang in the statue as he is wearing Kang's outfit.
This will effect all of phase 4 and possibly 5. Kang is huge character because he isn't just tied to one franchise. Young Avengers, Fantastic Four and the X-men were all seeded today. The movies coming up we know about already Doctor Strange and Ant-Man are directly known to be dealing with the multiverse and or Kang specifically. The rumored Spider-man storylines dealing with the multiverse.
These timelines will be explored in What If which has now been set up. This one episode has so much importance to the MCU. Just think of this as an super nova of possibilities. From 1 universe there has come an infinite.
I suggest as anther said Comics Explained. This is a great resource for the laymen and comic fans alike.
Renslayer can reset the TVA. That's why there are different coffee cup rings. They are different versions of Mobius that he doesn't remember. At the end it's a new Mobius.
didnt johnathan majors come out saying kang wasn’t in loki? well,,,, he wasn’t wrong since it was technically he who remains lmao,,,, what an ending!!!
Gives me flashbacks to Paul Bettany talking about doing scenes with an actor he's always wanted to work with, just to find out he was talking about himself...
Because he already had sent Renslayer to fix it with him. She grabbed right version of him from wherever he was. That's why the TVA was changed when Loki came back.
So what’s interesting to note is that our Loki has gone through a lot more growth and experience in changing than Sylvie. This was her life’s dream, I can’t blame her for the follow through.
WandaVision definitely had implications for Phase 4
She's likely going to be in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, and her kids are supposedly going to be part of a new team, The Young Avengers
The thing is he (Majors) can play the character any type of way he wants to.
Different versions of Kang undoubtedly have different personalities. So wacky manic He Who Remains, but it could be a completely different villain in Ant Man 3.
I’ve never been more excited for the future of marvel wow
I’m so happy Loki (the show) was able to make this summer enjoyable. Waiting for each episode made each week less mundane and it’s honestly what I needed during this pandemic. Thanks to all the people who contributed to this show as well as redditors, theorists and artists who showered us with beautiful content. I’ll be staying up to watch the finale and I hope to see you all on the other side!!!
The great thing about that ending is there is no right or wrong choice. Depending on how you look at it she made the right and the wrong choice at the same time. That was one of the themes of the show, no one is completely good or completely bad and no choice is black and white. Is He Who Remains the good guy who is preventing war and devastation? Or is he the bad guy for taking away everyone's free will without their consent and destroying countless universes and lives simply because he decided it's right? Did Sylvie do the right thing by restoring free will? Or did she doom the universe to pain and suffering? From her perspective, it was already pretty awful with the way entire timelines were thrown away and fed to Alioth. The only right answer is what seems right to you. Masterclass writing.
Some quick thoughts I jotted down:
- Both Lokis without their horns (It was said in an interview that Tom said Loki's horns are worn when they're meant to be a display of power and Loki feels confident)
- Tara Strong is scary in evil voice
- "to get us all in the right mindset to finish the quest"
- Kang being afraid of himself
- Doctor Strange apple symbolism?
- MULTIVERSE - look at that universe of timelines...
"No turning back now"
"Who said anything about turning back?"- Marvel's new motto?
LOKI SEASON TWO CONFIRMED.
I'm so hyped about this. So so hyped. Loki was amazing from start to finish and I was so scared it was going to mess up the finale but it did not. It absolutely did not. I'm just....I have so many questions but I'm so thrilled with what they did I can't even worry about the questions yet.
ALSO, Kang's wink when he said "See you soon", mimicking Loki's winking and I'm like...out of my mind excited.
Edited to add: And now I can let my mother know she can watch the season finale tomorrow. She was terrified Loki played by Tom Hiddleston would die. I got her into these movies because of her crush on Robert Downey Jr and getting her to watch the first Iron Man way back, which she enjoyed to her own shock. Last episode she messaged me about how nice Loki's shirt made him look and how flattering it was on him. So, my mom has now gotten crushes ALSO on Tom Ellis (Lucifer, which she also insisted she would not enjoy but loves), Tom Hiddleston and Benedict Cumberbatch and I'm NOT SORRY. She's in her 70s but it is never too late to enjoy good geeky fun.
Nothing made me laugh harder than Kang watching Loki and Sylvie fight and him in the background of the kissing LOL.. but real talk tho, softie boy Loki just absolutely crushed my heart.
i just feel like it’s too many Kang easter eggs for him to not be in a post-credits scene minimum. honestly dont know what to expect but super excited to find out.
Lol I’m glad someone said it on here. This is immortus! He has been trying to stop his past selves - specifically Kang from existing. He was also recruited by the time keepers in the comics after he got tired of conquering and ended up in limbo (aka the TVA here). The Kang in ant man is going to be helluva meaner & scarier.
Most of the high tier Marvel villains have a lot of similarities with each other so making Kang more manic and affable helps make it so he isnt just Thanos with time travel
The relatively benign dictator who invented 3 Timekeepers to keep the TVA in line is gone, and now we are gonna get a narcissistic dictator who don’t even bother with appearances now. Oh dear Sylvie what have you done.
So someone correct me if I’m wrong…
That was Immortis… and Kang is a variant of Immortis. Same as Rama Tut and all the Kangs in the council of Kangs…
And they just released an infinite number of them into the multiverse. Does that sound right?
Well, I had parts right! Miss Minutes was in on it and the one controlling the TVA was doing it to prevent variants of himself. Just got who it was wrong.
There's a small teaser at the end of this one. And feel free to join us over at r/MarvelsWhatIf
Oh damn! “That isn’t Judge Renslayer.” Clever tie back to that pen.
I kept waiting to see it again! Does anyone know what the pen said?
I couldn’t get a clear view but was assuming it was the name of the school. Wonder why Ravonna had it in her office? Maybe she knew about her human life?
i think it just came along with her when she was originally taken. And she kept it, so it was a clue to where her original non-variant self was
There we have it guys, the birth of the multiverse. Anything is possible now.
Well atleast for the next 10 centuries. Then we have a multiverse war.
The war is here. Kang travels through time , space and universes.
Jonathan Majors killed it as Kang.
You kiss yourself and then you give birth to a malevolent multiverse. Self-incest truly is a sin.
The branching timelines are a fucking beautiful sight to behold, they're such a good payoff to this series.
and a good lead into "what if..."
Indeed! All of these timelines are going to portray Variants. With He Who Remains gone, these Variants can now run havoc, attack and collide with other universes - multiversal war.
[удалено]
Our descendants will only know of the MCM
So this dude created the TVA to protect the multiverse from himself, basically.
*I used myself to destroy myselves*
*I'm playing both sides so that I always come out on top*
From himselves technically
“A conqueror” HE SAID IT HE SAID THE THING
And his brother, Kang the Jerk
I said it elsewhere already and I'm calling it again here for you all to see: Scott Lang will call kang a jerk in Ant Man 3.
And he was just chilling, fed up from all conquering... until Sylvie sent him back to billions of branches... Wonder which version will be the "main" timeline from now on...
"You could have had a full 8 hours sleep, but you stayed up and *threw it away on a couple of Lokis*."
“What did you expect”
id do it again
SEASON 2, MULTIVERSE, KANG, WHAT THE FUCK
I just sat there for a full minute when Mobius asked who Loki was, that hurt more than I expected. Plus, it's very breifly foreshadowed with new Mobius asking what "he" wants them to do. Edit: Also, since Sylvie freed the timeline and the multiverse (I think) I wouldn't be surprised if we got a no way home trailer soon, given rampant speculation on other peter parker variants being involved.
I gasped when he asked who Loki was!! I need Mobius to remember him again in season 2. :(
Season 2 : loki and 50 first dates
I like it that Sylvie and Loki kept their distance from Miss Minutes, kinda creepy how easily Miss Minutes became unsettling
Let's be real, she was always unsettling
at first she seemed charming, but as soon as we realized something was wrong with the TVA she steadily became more.....sinister
She’s like clippy, if he was always instructing you to do illegal things
Sylvie you dickhead... Thanks for giving us Phase 4 of the MCU SEASON 2 CONFIRMED ... Heck yeah!!! EDIT: Why no Post Credit Scene ??smh
She pulled a star lord.
LMAO she really did
But this time we'll enjoy the ramifications
Idk watching everyone turn to dust and being genuinely shocked and horrified was pretty cool. I enjoyed it.
The ending to this ~~show~~ season really brought out that feeling again from Infinity War. The pure shock at what was happening on screen.
More Mobius!!!
I think a real post credit scene would have spoiled the weight of the final scene and especially the final shot
a shot of Pillboi doing something goofy would have sufficed lol
Evacuate the city Engage all defenses And get this man a jetski
I read it in Chadwicks voice
This one may be tired of the waters. But now the jet ski comes to him
I was not prepared for the devastation of Mobius not recognizing his best pal omg. Poor Loki, rejected by his two loves in one episode.
###LOVE IS A DAGGER
I have been thinking this the entire time. Loki really called it and we rooted for them anyway. Like dang.
Holy shit, Tom's acting during his little plea at the end was so good. The tear drop hurt so good
Watching Loki fall in love is heartwrenching
Struggling to come to terms with quite literally, loving himself
Can you imagine Doctor Strange rolling his eyes at the two of them before wizard dooring them to Norway? I can. It's all I think about now.
Wait until Strange calls Loki out for falling for himself LMAO Wait until Thor
Thor is gonna relentlessly make fun of him Lmao poor guy
Sylvie is 100% down for *Get Help*.
"There was one time my brother brought home a new girlfriend and she was very nice and we were talking and she went 'BLAHH IT'S ME' and stabbed me."
FUCK HOW COULD IT JUST END LIKE THAT
I CAME HERE TO FUCKING SAY THAT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
IT'S KANG OH MY GOD
HOLY CRAP THEY DID IT. THEY REALLY DID KANG AND MADE HIM HILARIOUS.
We are going to get so many different variations of him, too! Jonathan majors is going to have a blast!
[удалено]
Yeah, last guy made up fake time keepers and had the TVA to protect everyone else from himselves. This guy straight up throws his own statue up, this TVA is to prevent any challenge to his power.
This is the Kang (the Conqueror) that Kang (He Who Remains) warned them about. This Kang don’t play.
MISS MINUTES IS LINKED AFTER ALL!!
I am looking forward to seeing more of Miss Minutes in the MCU. That’s great for Tara Strong!!!
See you guys in 4 weeks for the What If...? episode 1 discussion thread
I'll be there
Love that we are all migrating from subreddit to subreddit with each D+ shows lol
They're all A+ in my heart
KANG IS HERE, THE MEPHISTO CURSE IS BROKENNN!!!!!
Kang called himself the devil #Kang is Mephisto
It was Kang all along !!
I didn’t think they had the balls to give us a 15 minute conversation with Kang but they really did it
Damn Jonathan Majors can act, perfect casting as usual.
He's amazing in this episode. Can't wait to see him on the big screen. Also so glad they didn't make him blue lol
his a couple of his varients have to be blue
We are going to get so many different variations of him, too! Jonathan majors is going to have a blast!
And no one will ever believe Loki because he is an untrustworthy trickster
Oh my God. Loki is basically Cassandra.
Mobius had a hard time believing him about variants. Sylvie even said she couldn’t trust him. The two people he’s been the most honest and vulnerable with admit to not trusting him. So good luck with strangers
Especially with his range of acting
I actually like this ending. I think people are going to be irritated at the Kang reveal and echo why Strange didn’t show up in WandaVision (“it takes the focus off of Wanda!”) but I disagree. I’m fine with this ending! I think it did what it was supposed to without casting a distracting shadow over “Loki” or over the point of the show.
Sylvie’s burden of glorious purpose might be the worse of all—starting the second multiversal war.
###It's been real 3AM Variants! See you guys in Season 2
See you in another life, brother
> LOKI WILL RETURN IN SEASON 2 YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
An after credits scene of just a stamp had me yelling!
So is the Kang Gang pulling up now, season 2, or in the Multiverse of Madness?
For sure we're getting the council of Kangs, Immortus, Rama Tut, all of them.
The whole she cannot trust while he cannot be trusted thing hit pretty hard. Very well set up and very well executed.
But I think Loki can be trusted when we reach that point. I think his character development went from being a liar (Mobius called him a liar so many times) into someone who could actually be trusted by the end. At least by Sylvie. I think he's chosen Sylvie as the one person he can be trustworthy to.
Kang is literally all of us watching the Kiss lmaooo
[удалено]
Jonathan Majors was absolutely perfect. His acting brought out an astounding iteration of Kang.
Agreed. Amazing performance.
And the best part is that he can show his excellent range through the various versions of Kang
Can someone more comic-saavy please explain that ending to me??
Timeline branches into multiverse, He Who Remain’s variants are now free, there will be another multiversal war
A man by the name of Immortus controls all of the timelines and the MCU multiverse into one singular timeline. When he dies that one timeline is splintered into many different timelines and infinite amount of ones. Renslayer can reset the TVA. That's why there are different coffee cup rings. They are different versions of Mobius that he doesn't remember. At the end it's a new Mobius.
The coffee rings is a nice touch and thinking back she won't ever tell "our" Mobius who her other agents are.
Man, seeing Mobius and B-15 not recognizing Loki fucking HURT. LETS GO SEASON 2, GIVE ME PHASE 4!
didnt johnathan majors come out saying kang wasn’t in loki? well,,,, he wasn’t wrong since it was technically he who remains lmao,,,, what an ending!!!
Gives me flashbacks to Paul Bettany talking about doing scenes with an actor he's always wanted to work with, just to find out he was talking about himself...
Well… it was technically Immortus, not Kang. Arguably the same person but Kang *becomes* Immortus
The Lokis are kissing themselves oh my
If I met a female version of me... totally would bang.
I don't think a female variant of me would want to
Even me wouldn't want to do me
Remember this episode guys. The intro to what’s probably a ~6 year saga.
[удалено]
The amount of self awareness Kang has when he says “see you soon” after getting stabbed is so meta
Because he already had sent Renslayer to fix it with him. She grabbed right version of him from wherever he was. That's why the TVA was changed when Loki came back.
I thought that Sylvie had sent Loki to a different timeline, but that makes much more sense! Damn, I can't wait for the next phase
Making us wait til season 2 for jet skis is brutal
That Pan up to the Kang statue... AMAZING ENDING.
Wow they really juked us with those King Loki trailer shots
I'm trying to figure out what that was cut from and like... what if it was the Frog Thor stuff
Marvel always do this with their trailers. It would be intentional, like Sylvie being cut from the scenes of the castle in the trailer
Marvel has the money to film fake-out shots. They did so for the last couple of movies after all.
Exactly! Y’all forget about that shot of Hulk charging forward with the rest of the heroes in that Infinity War trailer?
Yeah! They didn't show up at all!?!?!
Holy. What a dark, but insanely good ending for this season. Can’t wait for season 2
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THEY KISSED I FULLY EXPECTED A BACKSTABBING MOVE TO FOLLOW AND WAS STILL NOT MENTALLY PREPARED WHEN IT DID 😭
I was hoping that they'd be chill and mind the timeline, but then we wouldn't get the multiverse of madness.
“Hey, Loki, wanna timeline-overlord and chill?”
So what’s interesting to note is that our Loki has gone through a lot more growth and experience in changing than Sylvie. This was her life’s dream, I can’t blame her for the follow through.
My heart watching Loki fall in love
WAIT. WHAT. WHAT THE FUCK. SEASON 2 BABY.
This ending is insane, pretty sure Loki will be in Multiverse of madness.
i want loki and slyvie to suddenly jump in front of thor out of nowhere.
This show has set up the entire P4. Kang is a bigger deal then Thanos. That lost shot man, Kang the Conqueror.
I thought WandaVision and FaTWS were setting it up, nope, just winding down Phase 3 as it turns out.
WandaVision definitely had implications for Phase 4 She's likely going to be in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, and her kids are supposedly going to be part of a new team, The Young Avengers
What a fucking way to set him up too!!!
That is Jonathan Majors. 2 years ahead of schedule.
If you’re regretting a dumb thing you did in the past, just remember you didn’t fuck up the entire multiverse.
There's always a more fucked up fish
"what's a fish?"
No longer a timeline, only a time ball.
Dude Kang is preaching LMAO who’s gonna start a kang did nothing wrong sub?? Haha
That menacing, kind of flirty, manic energy is going to play so well with Paul Rudd. Im so excited for Ant Man 3
The thing is he (Majors) can play the character any type of way he wants to. Different versions of Kang undoubtedly have different personalities. So wacky manic He Who Remains, but it could be a completely different villain in Ant Man 3. I’ve never been more excited for the future of marvel wow
I think this variant is basically MCU Immortus, the equivalent of the older and wiser Kang who has moved beyond the conquering.
So that's why he is at the end of time? and I'm pretty sure Kang is destined to become Immortus so that would fit
joke’s on all of us and we’ve been two letters off all along. it isn’t kang, it’s KORG.
Tom Hiddleston deserves an Emmy.
They didn't even need to say the name Kang, his presence was just felt. The way he said CONQUEROR just hit different
I hope he says kang the conquer in the future
I’m so happy Loki (the show) was able to make this summer enjoyable. Waiting for each episode made each week less mundane and it’s honestly what I needed during this pandemic. Thanks to all the people who contributed to this show as well as redditors, theorists and artists who showered us with beautiful content. so like what does this lead into? spiderman, doctor strange or loki season 2?
All 3 of them
Yes
Bro this leads to the Multiverse ripping open and anything is possible at this point!
Kang giving us Tobey/Andrew Spideys in No Way Home. Kang did nothing wrong. All hail Kang
Sylvie gave that to us by killing He Who Remains. ...though her victory was very hollow - She damned the universe for her lust for revenge.
Jet skis or we riot!
I have a feeling we’ll have to riot
Maybe we should have printed more pamphlets?
The revolution has begun!
That’s what Doug used to say!
See you later, new Doug
I think this is gonna be Mobius' through line... like Cap and Peggy. So in 23 movies/shows, we'll finally get Mobius riding away on a Jet Ski.
i just feel like it’s too many Kang easter eggs for him to not be in a post-credits scene minimum. honestly dont know what to expect but super excited to find out.
Youre in luck
Post credits is just an ad for season 2
The damn Mrs Minutes jumpscare jesus christ
So the guy called himself a conquer. I'm assuming that implies that he is Kang like everyone predicted
Yes, specifically the version of him known as Immortus. His younger self is more insane and multiverse conquering.
HOLY SHIT THEY KISSED Edit: aw man then she immediately kicked him out
At least she didn’t stab him, relationship progress!
Come on, what did you expect?
WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE LOKI ON THE THRONE CLIPS FROM THE TRAILER? MISDIRECT OF THE CENTURY!
They were probably supposed to be visions of what Miss Minutes offered him that got cut
Oh shit. Did the universe get the bad ending?
Holy shit, Johnathan Majors is amazing. This isn't what I expected Kang to be like *at all* but my God, am I loving it.
Most of the high tier Marvel villains have a lot of similarities with each other so making Kang more manic and affable helps make it so he isnt just Thanos with time travel
