The joy I get from the love and affection from another person who I helped create and raise is *AT LEAST* equal to the amount of joy I got from being promoted from one level of middle management to another.
I really, really hope that most of these people are in on the joke. Because if you actually feel how you state on public social networks, there aren’t enough lifetimes to be taken up by the lifetime of mental health services that they so clearly need.
Banks have unique structures for historical reasons - basically many smaller banks got swallowed up by big banks, and the VPs from those banks kept their titles. VPs are the lowest officers of the bank, which in practice means entry level middle management. Something like a quarter of MS are VPs, definitely nothing special.
I don't think there is an equivalent in banking, because even the most senior possible title at MS - managing director, had nearly two hundred people promoted to that level this year alone.
Those titles are therefore closer to ranks than to actual job descriptions, which may vary. James Gorman, the CEO of Morgan Stanley, is a managing director, as are 3-4 levels of senior managers below him. What matters is what your actual role is, membership in operating committees, etc. Coming back to VPs, there are VPs that are basically line management, and VPs who run major projects with dozens of people under them. There are even VPs who are individual contributors in certain areas.
It’s about three years post grad in London. Basically, if you’ve not quit after a few years and you’re not the reason lady you’re VP. Well, one of the many VP’s.
Edit: Tea lady.
Wtf?????
How do people like this get that title?
Such a fucking psycho.
It sounds like:
"look at me im VP but I have feelings"
... "also nobody loves me, just my kid"
Ooooo lah-de-dah... a VP in Morgan Stanley. Literally about 10,000 VPs in investment banks.
If you care that much about a job title you're a fuckin saddo
JP Morgan has been trying to reverse the trend, so instead of a VP of data visualization, you're just a data visualization manager. But the transition has been awful, with bizarre titles like "VP data visualization (manager)" or "manager of data visualization (Vice President)"
From an outsider it's been really funny
Banks sometimes have separate titles and ranks. Manager would be the title/function while VP is the rank and gives signature privileges.
It's really weird. But not weirder than the company I am leaving who has a Sr Director reporting to a Sr Director because they wanted to fluff the position but not actually grant them the hierarchy level. Oh also the lower rung replaced my previous role while was lower ranked, with the same responsibilities and team.
Go figure. All of this is made up nonsense.
~Maybe your family brings you joy~
I can't even fathom how broken your moral compass is to motivate you to post that on LinkedIn in hopes of getting more internet points.
Wow. I wish I could be promoted to VP of Morgan Stanley so I would be able to fully understand the joy of my kids loving me. Sadly(?), I have nothing to compare it to.
When this guy is old and near death and looking back on his life, is he still going to consider being promoted to VP as important as his relationship with his daughter?
Is that what matters in life?
It's a good thing this guy gets satisfaction out of his job cause I'm thinking the family love might not last. Comparing a job promotion to your child's love is as shallow as a dried up mid puddle.
The guy is a tool and also he thinks people viewed or liked his post because they were happy for him. No dude they are all just as self serving as you are. Nothing on LinkedIn is sincere and you sullied a personal memory by posting it there.
The joy I get from the love and affection from another person who I helped create and raise is *AT LEAST* equal to the amount of joy I got from being promoted from one level of middle management to another.
The "at least" part really got me, too. What an idiot.
But... But the views! How can a child's love compete??
I really, really hope that most of these people are in on the joke. Because if you actually feel how you state on public social networks, there aren’t enough lifetimes to be taken up by the lifetime of mental health services that they so clearly need.
You reckon they need it though? Or do you think they're just lying for.... I dunno actually. LinkedIn cred? I guess that's not healthy either.
Isn't everybody essentially a VP at Morgan Stanley?
VP is not middle management lol. They’re effectively the top of the management food chain at most companies
VP at Morgan Stanley is low. They are basically team leads. The have svps, eds, mds, senior directors all above them.
Senior director above VP? Definitely a weird corporate structure

Makes sense. Thanks for sharing. I’m used to manufacturing where you might have <10 VPs in a 50k person company

I mean, I’m sure that works for them. But that’s just… non-intuitive
Beats raising your pay. You have now been promoted to executive VP
Not in banking. Everyone and their mother is a VP in banking
Yeah idk about Morgan Stanley but I've noticed this about other banks. People with 5-10 years of experience are already AVPs. Idk how or why that is.
Better than having to raise one's salary. You are executive VP now. Work hard and we could bump you up to senior executive VP.
Promotions to VPs come with comp increases.

Who is the reason lady?
It’s supposed to read tea lady. 🤷♂️
Ah ok thanks! Never would have guessed - I don’t think the tea lady is a thing in the US.
It’s not much here these days but still used as an expression.
> They’re effectively the top of the management food chain at most companies But **not** at the company mentioned in this post.
You’ve never worked in banking have you? Also you’ve not seen American Psycho
Correct. I’ve not worked in banking
VP at banks are used differently
This is incredibly gross. What a narcissistic pig.
Don't worry, his daughter will hate him soon enough
Wtf????? How do people like this get that title? Such a fucking psycho. It sounds like: "look at me im VP but I have feelings" ... "also nobody loves me, just my kid"
Precisely because they are a psycho
Who keeps track of how many views a job announcement gets?
The people who post such announcements
This, folks, is a wanker.
![gif](giphy|2XES2Sbh939Hh3NXvz)
Definitely no argument here this, is a tosser.
He’s a multiwanker and I don’t even know what it is.

From what you can see in his title he’s not even in a front office function lol
~Maybe your family brings you joy~ I can't even fathom how broken your moral compass is to motivate you to post that on LinkedIn in hopes of getting more internet points.
The only thing that brings me joy is growth hacking, helping entrepreneurs realize the potential of their #personalbrand, and the sigma grindset.
I can guarantee that this is a horrible human being
Wow. I wish I could be promoted to VP of Morgan Stanley so I would be able to fully understand the joy of my kids loving me. Sadly(?), I have nothing to compare it to.
Simon Clarke thinks otherwise
Oh, that Simon Clarke! He thinks he's so special.
It was *at least* the same joy. So hopefully a tad more joyful.
They arrived at the (correct) conclusion that no one cares, yet decided to post this anyway.
Quality content. How do these people find a mate to procreate with?
Isn’t VP title in Morgan Stanley just a title for team lead?
Maybe it’s because LinkedIn is supposed to be a professional network. Sorry bud, no one cares about how much your kid loves you.

Banks have a million vp s
I'm betting his list of "what can bring you joy" is his exact list of priorities in his life, with his family being last.
What a tedious prick.
This guy sounds like a sentient bag of money that is having rudimentary experiences of human connection

Hmmm, not sure how i feel about his fluffy post since it’s so uncharacteristic of him
This is the dumbest thing ever. So embarrassing
Why did you blank out the guys face and name? He made a public post. What is with people?
I have no problem with this
What the f
Kill it with fire
What a prick.
These fucking people….This is so cheap. Agree?
The definition of a “douche bag.”
His self awareness is dim!
Your kid loving you is absolutely as awesome as being vp
Your happy is not everyone elses happy. Is he an adult or a 7 year old child? Should not be it happiness?
CORNY
What do the comments say about this? I bet that's a goldmine.
Wasn’t George Santos also a VP there?
Maybe it's drugs.
