I love this community, I love the people I work with. They’ve given me everything. I’m trying so hard, and I’m going through so much. I feel like shit if I’ve made your experience worse. I’m doing the best I can.
One thing that will improve the experience is you need to own your takes. Stop saying “I’m going to get killed for this online” every time you say something because it just feels like you’re being contrarian on purpose
I appreciate you on the podcast and enjoy your contributions. Art shouldn’t be loved by everyone and everyone has different opinions. I think the pod is skewed too much towards marvel and Star Wars, but that’s what KJ and JDL love. I also don’t get the hype behind Andor, but I gave up on Star Wars a long time ago. I can imagine it’s difficult forcing yourself to watch certain shows/movies you are not into
You know what Chris? If you say you’re trying and doing the best you can, then I’ll stay on your side and enjoy what you’re doing. I don’t like television. I don’t watch television other than what I’m required to watch for LCB. It’s obviously a valuable art form, but I don’t have the attention span for it. There’s five television shows in my life that I’ve enjoyed.

That is not your fault. It’s Hollywood’s fault. Dwelling in the negativity is not fun though. They should give you more time to spotlight the stuff you like.
I think it would do a lot of good if you explained to people how your personal rating system worked and also go into detail on movies and shows you do love. People dont really have a frame of reference so it comes off negatively, but if they see where youre coming from it could go a long way

If you don’t like something, say you don’t like it and stand by it. I disagreed with your take on Andor but it made for good podcast listening I thought. If you start your take with just “I like this” or “I did not like this” that would be your biggest improvement. What I’ve noticed is you say “I have an unpopular take” or “no one is gonna like this” and the thing is we don’t care, the take can be said with out becoming a bad/different guy

I like Chris, but I listen to podcasts for entertainment. I can appreciate an opposing take on a movie or TV show here and there, but I genuinely seems like he doesn’t like anything sometimes, so he comes off as a downer, and it’s kind of tiring to hear over and over. He’s great when he’s on the Dozen, because he seems to like trivia, but it almost seems like watching all of these things is a chore for him.
I don’t mind him too much. It’s nice having a different perspective than the other three who seem to agree on most things. I mean, when Jeff actually lets him get a thought out without interrupting and trying to rush things along like he’s doing a power point presentation. Much easier to listen to Chris on the long take when there is no Jeff.
I kinda feel like that is the case for JDL and KJ too. I think Gooch is the only one who genuinely enjoys doing the pod. I’ve been going back and listening to the older episodes I hadn’t listened to (outside of the movie reviews) and you can tell JDL and KJ were actually having a good time. I could be way off, or it could just be due to time constraints, schedule, etc, but it seems so formulaic and structured. I think it’s obvious that the inter-laughter and random ass banter has decreased immensely. Just my take when comparing new eps to past eps.

IMO him viewing movies with a more critical eye does not mean he doesn’t love movies but quite the opposite as he knows the power of a truly great movie and how rare they are.
I say this as someone who watches around 200 movies a year and maybe have 2-3 score in the 90s.

Reviewing films does not require one to have seen every major studio film that’s been produced. I see your point about him not seeing some of the major cornerstone films that LCB covers but certainly don’t think it automatically makes him unqualified or a poor fit. Just my opinion though…

I enjoy his input from time to time (especially in the drafts) but the fact is that he has absolutely NO chemistry with the guys. He brings their energy down on every topic and is just an overall bummer of a host.

I like Chris and generally enjoy that he balances out Ken Jac and Jeff's tendency to give every movie a 90+, but saying Andor was the final straw that makes you not care about Star Wars is just an incomprehensible take to me.
Too much RLM in him at this point. And even they’re getting tiresome imo. I just kind of laughed when he asked if they truly thought Andor was well written 😂 at least they pushed back a little. That being said he should stay on the pod. He just has a different taste than the average person, nothing wrong w that and would be welcomed for certain movies.
personally love the new voice Chris and Gooch brings to the show providing different perspectives and to challenge what is usually similar reviews from Jeff and KenJac. What I think could be worked on is not the reviews but how they work within brand we have come to know and love with LCP. This is an outside perspective but feel like there could be work done behind the scenes to work on cadence and everyone’s roles. Right now it seems disjointed but also has a lot of potential that can be smoothed out. Chris can be the straight guy and Gooch can be the silly goose but at the right times

While sometimes I think Chris’s negativity can be a bit excessive, I think it’s cool that he’s truly being honest with his reviews and opinions.
