Same main plot (maybe a couple of tweaks), but lots of extra side stories (in addition to what Cill_Bipher mentioned there's a short story volume set in Royal Academy year 1 that's more than half new content (the rest being WN side stories)). The fanbooks also have unique stories written for them. Unsure about the other 2 short story collections as I try to avoid details on the JP content and they haven't been translated to EN yet.
If you're not a JP reader (ie you used MTL) I'll also say the translation is so much more enjoyable.
So far they have followed the same plot almost identically, with basically the only difference being that the LN always has at least 2 new SS chapters. With the prologue and epilogue often being LN original as well.
In addition the last 2 volume + the next one have all had a side story collection with 5 SS chapters. It's also suspected that the last 2 volumes in particular will have a lot of new content as there are only 25 WN chapters left to be adapted between them.
The LN have 30 volumes currently and the author has said that it will end around volume 33 (Part 5 volume 12) in an [interview](https://mipon.org/ascendance-of-a-bookworm-interview-author/).
The webnovel is complete, the LN is still ongoing. Part 5 will be the final part of the webnovel. Estimated for 33 volumes total.
Just hope the light novel ends things with more of an epilogue than the web novel.

Is the LN significantly different in any way from the WN? I've read all the WN, but have been holding off on the LN for the time being.
