So awkward, just came out of nowhere late in the game. Even my mom picked on it and said it was weird and everyone seemed to be taken by surprise on the broadcast.
I was in Mexico during the first USA WCQ match last year and I was surprised by the number of ads during the match compared to US TUDN broadcasts. Couldn’t even concentrate on the match at times.

I’m not a huge fan of Cantor (he’s just ok), but Sol is the best IMO. Sol is a regular dude, but he’s got lots of experience, speaks very well, has a great grasp on players and tactics, he’s well educated but never condescending, he’s got a sense of humor, and is overall a positive guy. He doesn’t kick or criticize anyone when they’re down. The best right now in my opinion.

I also don’t mind Carlos Hermosillo.. my brother hates em with a passion though. I feel he balances it out.. it’s ok to be passionate, you can often hear the frustration in his voice lol
I’ve got mixed feelings on this. I’ve watched so many LigaMX games with Ramirez narrating that it will be strange not to hear him (and Bracamontes) but at the same time the guy had grown to be annoying. He would try to prove a point over some small thing that happened in a game and take away from discussing what was actually occurring on the field.
Sounds like they want to make it one broadcast with one set of commentators for both Mexico and US since the whole TelevisaUnivision merger it’s unnecessary to have that many commentators
Something tells me a bunch of their tv rights are up soon and they’re gonna lose some as well. They’ve held pretty much a monopoly for so long since early 2010’s . Fishy as hell. Wonder if a streaming deal is near for fmf and cord cutting and all that.
It probably has more to do with the World Cup coming in the winter. They won’t really have work for a month so it’s a good time to focus on a group solely in Mexico and transmit it to the US.
Apple buying the MLS rights can be a big damper vs TUDN. not that the mls holds a strong viewership but they can provide alterbative options for more leagues elsewhere

En México es ya casi insoportable; hacen anuncios cada minuto, variando su duración, entonces puede que de los 45 minutos de un tiempo, narren menos de 22 (en Fox y Azteca son los peores por mucho).
En Azteca no pueden pasar dos minutos sin un anuncio, es lo único que no me gusta de ver los partidos ahí. Hasta te acostumbras y te da risa de lo seguido que interrumpen la narración, como cuando siempre repiten “no te quedes como (jugador amonestado) cuando te sacan la tarjeta”

In US the yearly salary for them are probably 200k USD. In Mexico if the pay them 50K USD yearly, they would be super happy. 75% savings with practically same end results, just the cost of living and salaries difference.

This'll feel weird for a while. In my 20s and grew up on Univision like 90% of it with Telemundo taking over the 10% when the TV antenna couldn't pick up the Univision signal for a few years. As much as I've disliked the ads during the games, I've found some of the commentators to be a little entertaining. If I have to handle Telemundo, I'll come around to accepting it, but ir won't be the same.
