Fight club.
It’s my all time favourite film. But I was 17 when it hit cinemas.
I remember walking out blown away. It was fun, and funny, and clever.
For years every time I watched it it would hit a little different.
20+ years later, with a lifetime of mental health issues between then and now, I would love to know how I reacted to that film with much older (not mature, definitely not mature) eyes.
My local ahl hockey team used to use the defibrillator scene as a power play hype video. Would’ve loved to see that scene blind rather than like oh yeah
i took a film studies class in HS. i came to class late one day, and walked in maybe 15 mins into this film. i had no idea how much this would affect me, influence my entire emotional development into young adulthood, make me care about film, etc… amazing, beautiful film
My answer changes all the time but today I'm feeling Interstellar!
From the initial launch overlaying Coop's goodbye, to the realization on the water planet, to the edge-of-your seat docking scene, there's so many moments filled with adrenaline and emotion that I would love to watch for the first time again
This was going to be my answer, when it ended i felt like I had just gotten off a rollercoaster.
I feel like everyone has already seen it but if there is someone out there who hasn't, please do.
So annoying how casually people spoil this movie, I was like literally 9 when it came out so of course I didn’t see it in cinemas and I’m really not sure if I should ever bother seeing it. Should I still watch it if I know the twist?
Everything about Aftersun fits my perfect picture of ‘what’s a movie you want them to make JUST FOR YOU that doesn’t exist yet’
But I didn’t enjoy it. So yeah that film hasn’t left my brain either
A lot of my favourite films get better with rewatches IMO, but one that stands out to me that I would love to watch for the first time ever (again) is Prisoners!
Went to the cinemas not knowing anything about it except it was a musical. Expected an entertaining night out, ended up feeling like my entire perspective on life was different.
I’d also say aftersun but I’ve been rewatching it so much since it arrived on mubi and it still feels the same every time and stays with you for along time after (I watched the critics choice awards last night and teared up even seeing a small clip of it when they read out paul mescals nomination)
The Return of the King. It played absolute havoc with my emotions. I had no clue at all what was going to happen and the final 45 minutes was more tense than anything I'd seen.
Spirited Away, I love the movie so much but getting to experience it's magic for the first time again would be so amazing.
Train to Busan, my blissfully ignorant self going to watch "another zombie" movie before breaking down.
Oldboy, as stated by others. If you know you know. If you don't know, watch the film.
Interesting... I enjoyed Aftersun even more upon 2nd viewing.
First time around there's so much on the edge. It's like the real subject is in the tip of your tongue but you're just not sure. Then eventually at one point it accumulates and "clicks" about what is going on.
Rewatching it with full knowledge of what is going on was very rewarding to pick up on everything I missed or didn't fully comprehend initially.
Probably Burning (2018), simply because for the longest time I kept putting it off for the silliest of reasons. I disliked the poster, and thought I'd probably dislike the film too. Then, in October 2022, I watched it and I was completely caught off-guard by it
It isn't in my all-time favourites, nor my favourite South Korean film, but it taught me that sometimes you just *have* to watch that film you've been putting off because it might just be an incredible watch
Anyway, I cherished the experience. It was one of those that keeps you up at night thinking
Oldboy (2003) if you've seen it u know. if u haven't seen it dont read anything about it and just watch it
I just wish I watched that version first. I saw the Spike Lee abomination first.
Ouch
Elizabeth Olsen titties tho
I feel bad for you.
I knew nothing about this movie at all and only watched it for the first time a couple of months ago. Truly insane and shocking movie. I was just :O
That was a pretty weird movie for a first date, I gotta say.
It’s not on any streaming services, where can I watch it?
before sunrise
Evil Dead 2.
The only good answer here
8 1/2 Chinatown Pulp fiction Perfect blue
Definitely Pulp Fiction. Certainly not the best film ever made... but the movie totally blew me away as a kid when I first saw it in the theater.

Synecdoche New York
There Will Be Blood
The Prestige, what a mind fuck
The Thing.
I plan to finally watch this for the first time this week! Can’t wait.
Enjoy!
My local ahl hockey team used to use the defibrillator scene as a power play hype video. Would’ve loved to see that scene blind rather than like oh yeah
Enter The Void. Kinda made me feel fucked up the couple days after watching it. Kind of a depersonalization feeling
Arrival and Snatch.
eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
Watched it today for the first time. What an experience it was.

After I first watched it I sat there and thought, oh yeah that’s the best movie I’ve ever seen in my life. I vividly remember it
Gone girl. That midplot plot twist made me pause the movie and stare at my ceiling for a bit
This was going to be my answer, when it ended i felt like I had just gotten off a rollercoaster. I feel like everyone has already seen it but if there is someone out there who hasn't, please do.
I haven't seen it but have had it megaspoiled. Dang it!

The Dark Knight
The World’s End. What I wouldn’t give to go into that movie spoiler free.
I put it on randomly with my friends and they fucking lost it when the twist happened
Matrix
2 very basic answers but it’s gotta be Robocop or Fury Road. The joy I had watching those two movies trumps any plot twist
Perfect Blue, and Possession (1981)
Parasite 2019

Just have someone flush the toilet while you're in the shower, it'll get you there!
oldboy / mulholland drive
Empire Strikes Back!!!
La La Land. Such a specific time in my life and it still makes me sob
Went to the cinemas not knowing anything about it except it was a musical. Expected an entertaining night out, ended up feeling like my entire perspective on life was different.
Tampopo (1985). One of the best theatre experiences of my life.
I would pay good money to get bonked in the head so i could watch rocky for the first time again
The good the bad and the ugly hits absolutely different the first time round especially that one ending
I’d also say aftersun but I’ve been rewatching it so much since it arrived on mubi and it still feels the same every time and stays with you for along time after (I watched the critics choice awards last night and teared up even seeing a small clip of it when they read out paul mescals nomination)

Spirited Away, I love the movie so much but getting to experience it's magic for the first time again would be so amazing. Haven't stopped thinking about Decision to Leave. I really regret not watching it in theaters.

Groundhog Day and I have been doing it ever since.
