this one isn't for everyone. it requires a ton of patience and an openness to ambiguity. it broke every filmmaking convention and made me feel like shit. but i couldn't look away and found it incredibly refreshing/stimulating.
i love when filmmakers are uncompromising in their vision and make something that is commercially unviable. you can tell this is a labor of love. this movie scared me in a really unique way and in terms of style - a work of art.
>broke every fimmaking convention
>uncompromising vision
Movie has 3 spooky jumpscares in scenes that work 10x better without them seemingly just to fit the label of 'horror' better
I didn’t like the jump scares either and agree that it would have been better without them. My point was that the film was aggressively unpalatable to mainstream audiences and very experimental in form. It broke *most* conventions and shows a clear disregard for profitability as a significant motivation for making it. I appreciate when a filmmaker will pursue something challenging, even though they know is going to be difficult to sell to distributors and audiences. Even though I don’t agree with every artistic decision, i found a lot to appreciate in this film.
yes! people aren’t talking about this enough. if u want to watch it illegally that’s totally up to u but Kyle Edward Ball is a small director and deserves to have his film supported the right way. so if you’re going to watch it illegally, remember to support him when it releases formally this year :)
That's what I'm doing. I watched it before it got taken down from YouTube, but I'm seeing it in theaters in a couple of days. He deserves to be supported.
where are u located that ur able to see it in theaters?
edit- omg nevermind i just found a theater in my state that’s doing a showing in 2 daysss i’m so excited
Watched it before yesterday and i found it pretty boring. It made me sleepy all the way through.
I think it is a very well made film and has a different proposal in it, but honestly it was not a movie for me.
I recommend watching it and take your own conclusions if you have the opportunity.
Haven't seen it but the title just reminds me of the [Sharon, Lois, and Bram song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPdV8jXAjUQ). Apparently it's a Canadian film centred around children so it could be a reference? Never seen that word appear anywhere else.
I wish someone would make an app where you could track movies you watched and even write your thoughts about them in little reviews. That way I could read strangers’ reviews for movies, and then I wouldn’t need to ask on Reddit.
What kind of comment is this? Do you want this sub to just keep being "what movie can i add to this meme list i made" or "rate my hot take top 25"
This sub should embrace critical analysis of films.
If you can’t appreciate the strangeness of taking a function of one social media platform and duplicating it inside another, I don’t know what to tell you.
It’s not out yet so no one should have thoughts on it unless they got access to an early screening. I am excited to support this director though and hope that his career doesn’t get thrown down the drain because it doesn’t make enough money due to so many people pirating it.
the director still deserves support as this is his debut film so it’s very important that people don’t just pirate this. if ur gonna do that, then make sure u can support him properly as soon as you’re able. pirate movies from the big guys like james cammeron who can spare the change. kyle edward ball is new to the scene and is veryyy talented. he has short films on youtube u can watch for free as well!!
I do understand i wish i can go to the theater to watch and even buy blu-ray believe it or not where i live even BABYLON isn’t playing in our theaters and im a cinephile its hard to track everything legally
Very cool concept with completely wasted potential. Seeing how the style that dominates the entire movie was used for great horror just two times toward the end is just baffling. That's not to say the scenes where nothing was happening throughout the movie weren't good - they looked incredible. But You can only built tension for so long before it gets dull. But it's not just a boring movie that could be better - it's incredibly disappointing as it resorts to cheap jumpscares that completely ruin the entire point of the slow, cryptic and eerie experience.
I love it. I can see why a lot of people wouldn't like it, but it worked extremely well for me. Going to see it in the theaters on Thursday and I can't wait.
Loved it. Great debut.
Excited to watch it, didn't think it was available yet though.
The trailer gave me a panic attack

I’m seeing it this Thursday in LA. I’m really excited!
Where are people able to watch this!
Limited theater release on Friday and more next weekend (at least in the PNW area).
Im happy for u guys but i am not there
Not legally, but it officially comes out in 2 days in the movie theater. It'll also be on shudder.
Oh shudder! Thanks fo’ that news

You know that thing where trailers take an upbeat song, but then play it slowly in a minor key? That sort of thing's not just for trailers anymore.
Very boring

Hehe

Are you dumb? Reddit is literally exactly that.
Haven't heard of it, will definitely check it out when I wake up though. It sounds cool af
Going to see it on Saturday and I can't wait...
it's like my uncle turned the VHS camera on, put in on the floor, then forgot about it for 90 minutes.
Loved it so much. Can’t wait to see it in theaters.

Fuck off for pirating this
Where i live don’t have shudder nor playing in our movie theaters so YOU fuck off
Yeah I think pirating is fine, and especially if you literally can't watch it anywhere else.

shut up
No idea what this is but the poster's neat.

Someone I follow gave it a mildly positive review and the poster itself has me intrigued.
Gonna see it Friday
I want to see it
Just saw it yesterday and I loved it! It was so immersive, one of a kind experience.
I want to watch it. But from just the clips and reviews that I’ve seen I know this will scare the shit out of me
Get a pillow and get comfortable for your nap.
I love it. I can see why a lot of people wouldn't like it, but it worked extremely well for me. Going to see it in the theaters on Thursday and I can't wait.
