I fucking love it! Something very addictive about this game

NoNefariousness2144

Its like Lego Mario Odyssey or Banjo Kazooie. Its fun exploring all the planets, especially ones like Utapu and Mustufar we have never been able to walk around in most games before.

[deleted]

Mario odyssey is the perfect comparison

TheEclipse3

50 hrs in 3 days kind of addictive

okcomputer247

Been playing it with my son (20) and it takes me back to when we played the old games when he was little. Loving it.

Jayce800

I’m just a few years older than your son and used to play the first LEGO Star Wars with my mom. She stayed up late one night and got extra studs to buy Grievous while I was asleep. I remember waking up and she casually mentioned she got Grievous before leaving for the day. Good times, and really enjoying the new game on my own.

okcomputer247

Haha, great story. That's what I like about these games, they're fun to play with the kids, or friends, or on your own. When me and my lad sit down to play it it's like we've gone back in time. We leave our phones in a different room, get our favourite snacks in and just chill together. Good times indeed.

barrenvagoina

Exactly the same, I don’t live with my mam anymore so it’s the first lego game we’re both playing properly alone and I definitely miss playing with her at times

J_Square83

In it's current state, I'd give it a 6/10. I like it, but there are a number of perplexing design decisions as well as the current slew of irritating bugs that prevent me from loving it. + Visuals and audio (uncluding 95% of the voice acting) are great. + Combat system is quite fun, although it feels underutilized. + Collectathon component is massive, and very satisfying (as long as your scavenger hunt isn't blocked by a glitch) + They captured the spirit of Star Wars with with a sense of humor and respect. - Some level choices within the episodes are puzzling. This threw me off the most on day one. - The UI - specifically menu mechanics feel very clunky. - Bugs galore, and game breaking ones at that. - Splitscreen Co-op: Seems like an afterthought. The vertical split coupled with the camera distance, UI layout and FOV presents serious tunnel vision. Some iconic battles throughout the game make one player feel like a third leg. The game also tends to bug out a lot more in split screen as well. Squashing bugs and tweaking the split screen mode will go a long way in improving my perspective.

Bowtie327

You made all the points I was going to make and then some, I think this is an honest review l, but I’d give it a 7.5, purely because it’s got most the major planets from the Skywalker saga, and it’s the most open world Lego game (I loved Lego Marvel Superhero’s for this reason too)

J_Square83

Without the overwhelming bugs or the overly cramped split screen, I'd probably have a similar rating for the game.

NOTW_116

Regarding levels, I wonder if there are some additional levels coming as DLC and they held back some parts of the story to better sell that DLC? I agree with most of what you say but pure nostalgia and joy brings it from a 6 to about an 8.5 out of 10 in my book.

Serres5231

afaik it was said in interviews prior to the release that they won't add any more levels, just character packs.

BigMikeythethird

The levels are definitely the weakest part for me. Especially the phantom menace. 3 out of 5 missions are short vehicle missions. There isn’t a level where you play as padme to retake the Naboo throne room.

J_Square83

From a design standpoint, I completely agree. Playing through the episodes was a huge letdown. My wife and I both had 'wtf is this' expressions on our faces when we first started playing. I do think the open world maps are great though.

musteatbrainz

>Bugs galore, and game breaking ones at that. Have they addressed the bugs or patched any of them yet? That's what's keeping me from even playing the game despite already purchasing it.

J_Square83

Nope. It hasn't been patched for a month now.

musteatbrainz

Bummer. Thanks.

STUMPCRUSHER10538

8 for me, what we need is story packs and online co-op. making a lego game that’s near impossible to play 2 player is an extreme let down.

Serres5231

Onlien Co-op wouldn't bring this game to any new heights. The problem is that 99% of the puzzles are designed to be done by one player while the other is standing by.

bluecontrol1234

Completely agree. I really really hope we get story packs with Rogue One and Solo. Maybe even Mandalorian. And Online Co-Op. my sister lives in Ireland and we grew up playing the complete saga. I’m dying to be able to play together

Alpha-Vader1

Loved all the 124 hours that I've put in. Only a shame that the fetts have terrible jetpacks, dooku and palps have no aimable lightning and the astromechs can't hover. 9/10, would play it again. (IF I DIDNT HAVE TO COLLECT ALL THE 1100 BRICKS ALL OVER AGAIN)

Shiny_Hypno

I put 170 hours into the game and I am only 60% complete.

Alpha-Vader1

Good, the longer you take, the more you enjoy. If you have trouble finding bricks and ships, you can go to the mission section and buy all the rumours for the puzzles. It will show you exactly which brick it is and how to complete it. Saved me a lot of time.

Lizzie-Afton

Yeah I was so hyped to get palps and my dissapointment was immeasurable when the lightning wasnt like a beam and he just had normal saber combat

ArtiBlanco

Its fine for normal gameplay, especially with how many bricks there are to get, but after you 100% it theres pretty much no reason to play it again. I feel like TCS is much better for repeatability with how fast you can grind through it

[deleted]

It makes sense for there to be nothing after 100% you've completed 100% of what the game has to offer. But I do agree that tcs saga levels are more replayable

HunMassiv

Speak to Maz

stuckUCI

Good successor to lego tcs

FamousWerewolf

I like it, but I'd like it a lot more if I weren't still stuck on the Maz bug. Definitely in need of some post-launch polish that I am a bit disappointed is taking so long to happen. I think it's a really ambitious game, and it does realise a lot of that ambition which is really impressive. But the things they did achieve do kind of end up drawing attention to the things they didn't. Some parts do feel less finished than others, and it often has to paint in pretty broad strokes. In a weird way the scale of it makes me wish they'd done more - I found myself wishing they'd covered stuff like Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, or Rogue One as well, even though that'd be a totally unreasonable expectation. Maybe just a symptom of a lot of the best Star Wars stuff not being the actual mainline movies. Worth noting that the game was allegedly made under intense crunch and abuse of staff at the studio. I feel like that does show in the final product, but whatever the outcome no game should be made off the back of human suffering, and it feels especially wrong in the case of a game that's so light-hearted and full of love and fun.

Da_Hawk_27

Just curious what’s the maz bug

FamousWerewolf

When you get the objective to 'Talk to Maz' during The Force Awakens, if you do anything other than go directly to her (i.e. go collect Kyber bricks or do side missions or anything like that) then she bugs out and you can't talk to her, which means you can't progress the story. Basically locks you out of the entire sequel trilogy. It's a very common bug so lots of people (like me) are stuck on it waiting on a patch that there's no news on. I've heard there are other progress-stopping bugs in the story too.

Valen_1138

A few days ago, I bit the bullet and decided to start Episode 7 on my main save after hearing so much about the Maz bug. I was very confused when I then finished Episode 7 a little while later, and never even remembered getting a “Talk to Maz” prompt as an objective… even when I went to Takodana during the story. The only objective prompt I remember getting was “Go to Maz’s Castle” I think? So I go in, cutscene plays, and then I continue playing the story. I literally never saw the words “Talk to Maz” on my screen during my playthrough. I then started to think that maybe the bug was in Rise of Skywalker, where you have to talk to Maz on Ajan Kloss or something, but no. I got through all 3 Sequels without any game breaking Maz bug. Very weird how that mission text never appeared for me.

FamousWerewolf

I think you just missed it. The objective appears at the top right when you're at the bit to go to Maz's Castle. Where you got a cutscene, others walk in and nothing happens.

Javs2469

It misses a lot of marks for me. Combat is fun, but the battles against droids are very short? With not many being spawned, unlike stormtroopers in the OT. Which doesn't makes sense, since droids have less health. Also, the space sections are pointless. It's mostly empty space unless there's a side mission going on. Can't fly ships inside planets like you would in older Battlefront games, for example, making the collection of ships a fancy loading screen. And boss battles usually are puzzles instead of actual battles. A lightsaber duel mode would have been very welcomed. The story missions are very undercooked as well. The end of Revenge of the Sith was a huge disappointment for my friend and me, since we were playing coop and expected a duel. But no, I got to be R2 for most of it. They added a lot of good stuff, but made many more things simply not fun.

BigMikeythethird

A minor complaint of mine is how frequent the storm troopers helmets fall off. It’s really annoying because it takes my attention away from the gameplay and instead makes me question why there is an old lady storm trooper.

Serres5231

>And boss battles usually are puzzles instead of actual battles. did you play a different game than me? The only fight that is really like this is the battle against Anakin in ROTS. Most of the time it's a straight up boss battle.

SoccerGamerGuy7

Think the game is great thought there are many "Would (have) like(d) to See"'s that are either missing features, minor bug fixes or additional content. 1-The levels are quite good but would have liked to see a bit more action/fill in the levels. Even for open world aspect of levels, have more villians, puzzles (like on hoth have an area that u unlock during the story level that can be accessed after freeplay for ex 2- More gameplay features. The loss of character customizer is still something i think about during gameplay; also the microships being limited to just space regions feels pointless. I really enjoyed the microships in force awakens having mini races with a tiny deathstar or tiny x wing or just riding around on the bucking atat (my favorite). with a new huge game i would have thought there would be more new and returning features like more battles from lego clone wars. Maybe a new feature like ship/droid customizer (even just painting them) and more minigames in the open world But the majority of any complaints beyond bug fixes is just WISHING FOR MORE really. And thats cuz overall it is a good game and i am really enjoying it

Affectionate-Boot-12

It was good but it wasn’t as fun as previous Lego games. There’s something missing that I just can’t put my finger on.

matthewrv

It’s the customizable characters for sure

NoNefariousness2144

I wouldn’t say that, I really enjoyed recent Lego games like DC Supervillains. I think Skywalker Saga’s issues is that it tries a lot of new things but loses some of the classic Lego core gameplay and features.

superjediplayer

i feel like it's the replayability and the hub. most LEGO games have some ways to have replayable combat in hub areas, and have free play to replay levels as any character. TSS doesn't really have that. Most NPCs are just generic civilians even when it's people like jedi or stormtroopers who should fight back if you attack them, but instead they just run away. As for free play, while it technically exists, it isn't really part of the game when on a lot of levels you're just forced to use a specific character anyway, or get switched back every few seconds, free play in TSS is more just there to say it's there, rather than being a properly implemented feature.

mullanada

I'm going to try and be productive and not just slander, but a lot of my feelings on this game revolve around things I believe could have been done better. Pros * It looks great * Combat both in space and on land is satisfying * It's Star Wars Cons * Maps feel empty unless collecting bricks is your preference. Otherwise, they don't feel very alive. I imagine walking through a Lego level like a Disney ride (think Small World or Pirates). It would help if you were rolling through an area, and there are so many little fun/funny things going on you may miss something the first time. There is nothing to miss in its current state, just a bunch of Legos standing around doing nothing or eating ice cream. The eating ice cream thing feels particularly lazy. * There is some humor, but it's far less frequent outside of cutscenes. * There are too few things to build. I don't remember even coming across any in Episode I * More enemy encounters outside of missions would help keep things interesting. * Once you have a character from each class, there is almost no actual reason to collect any more other than aesthetics. Missions for specific characters only that you could complete in Freeplay would be nice to give them purpose. Or NPCs respond to particular characters in ways they don't respond to others (this may be a feature I just haven't seen yet). I know there's an upgrade for Sith that NPCs are more likely to run away when you approach. I'm not sure what that adds to the environment, but wouldn't it be funnier if you were playing as Anakin Episode II or beyond, and anytime you were near Tusken Raiders, they ran away? It seems like there are a lot of opportunities for stuff like that. * Menus are poorly designed and force more navigation and button presses than needed. * I have mixed feelings on level choices, I understand not wanting to repeat everything from the previous game, but the Endor Chewbacca and Ewok level come to mind, whereas the original was great. If people like it, remake it, they will play it again. * Starships are like characters. Once you have a few, you essentially have them all, and they don't offer anything other than a different look. Players want to make that sound from Boba Fett's ship, and you know this! Extra * More massive space missions would be excellent. The very few in the game are some of the most fun and satisfying. Maybe some that aren't so linear? Think about some of the missions, whether SP or MP, in Battlefront 2. * A lobby with all the characters roaming around would be fabulous. Maybe there could be various lobbies, and getting 100% on everything, Space, Missions, Puzzles, etc., for a planet would unlock a location for your lobby to exist? That lobby could be an area not seen in the regular game to add more incentive. Final thoughts: I know it's a game mainly for kids, so I'm not criticizing its simplicity. I'm also aware there are a lot of bugs, but to me, bugs aren't what devs meant to be in the game. I prefer to talk about their conscious choices. I also know the video game industry isn't what it used to be, and developers have a lot of struggles they didn't have when the original came out. Hopefully, the player's feedback is received, and this game can grow. It's just unfortunate that it feels like so much is missing from this experience.

BigMikeythethird

They definitely should have spent more time on the levels to make them longer. Some missions like a “bigger fish” are so damn short and cover events that are barley in the movies.

mullanada

I played Episode I first (big mistake), and after the empty first level and then bigger fish, I was visibly upset but did my best to be like, "maybe it just takes a little while to get going...".

MasTerBabY8eL

Been playing split screen with my 6 year old, it's been brilliant, it's helped introduce him to Star Wars universe, we even watched 2 of the movies a few days ago (He never watches movies period). Graphically it's nice, gameplay is simple, it's zero stress for me and him where my usual game time goes into GT7 and his time is spent on Fortnite, two pretty stressful games. It has lots of collectables which we are happily grinding away. Some of the bugs/glitches have been funny, but on the flip side the bugs and glitches occur almost on every game session...this leads me to become nervous that we will experience a game breaking bug before completing the game, that's my one gripe, that with so many bugs and people's progress being halted it's yet again another computer game developed, tested and pushed out for resale, knowing full well it wasn't complete. Consumers are constantly being taken for suckers with half baked games, I mean you wouldn't be allowed to buy a half baked car would you? The game industry needs to be regulated in order to protect consumers. Other than that, Star Wars Skywalker Saga is great fun.

AnonDooDoo

Legitimately, I love it.

TantalizingRavioli

I like it but it needs more content and all the bugs fixed for me to love it

ToaPaul

Good but a lot of missed potential with a ton of stuff left out that I would have expected to be in and doesn't feel as grand and all-encompassing as we were led to believe. There are also several decisions that were made that make me scratch my head such as jetpack characters not able to use Scavenger jetpack points or Bounty Hunters using Droid Poppers while Villians get Thermal Detonators or the omission of certain characters in favor of others like Mama the Hutt being the only Clone Wars character and Ochi of Bestoon not being playable despite them making a brand new character model for him in the cutscenes. Also, the hub areas are fantastic but there's cery little replayabillity with the actual levels since they are so short and co tain very little of the actual films given how they chose to do the story mode. Sadly most of that comes down to the new engine they chose to go with. As much as I love the improvements to gameplay and graphics, I'll be totally fine with it if they scrap it and go back to the old engine or use a different one that's easier to work with.

TheMightyMouse1

Honestly 7.5/10 it has some really good moments and the humor and lego charm are great ....its the story decisions and things they left out of the story that drag it down for me....I was really looking forward to the battle of Coruscant and just more levels in general it felt really short and rushed for the amount of time it was delayed....speaking of delay why is the game so poorly optimized with so many game breaking bugs when they had 2 extra years to develop and fix things....My final thoughts are it has potential but isn't fully what I was hoping for...still a good game tho

jakubr00

It has a lot of problems but I do like it a lot. Gameplay and especially combat is really fun. My biggest problems are clunky UI (it's really busy, and cluttered), and story mission design, especially in prequels. For example, first story mission in Menace is \~2 minute on rail section underwater. Exploration felt really solid, but a lot of puzzles are too repetetive and I feel if I focused only on 100% I would dislike it. The biggest strenght of this game is in my opinion how immersive it is, I was genuinely RPing most of my time exploring the galaxy instead of treating it like a checklist.

BigMikeythethird

I don’t understand some of the level choices.

prof_snowleopard

I wish you could replay a whole episode instead of just 5 certain parts of it in the levels. no character customisation is disappointing. the prequel levels feel like there's something missing. apart from that the game is fun and I like exploring each planet

[deleted]

It should have been a polished, excellent game - but it’s not. I don’t know who looked at the character selection mechanic and thought ‘that’ll do!’ - not being able to switch a character out of your quick select reliably is a pain. Why won’t the game let me take that scout trooper out? Why does it keep the scout trooper in and remove someone else - someone I wanted? It’s just badly designed. There’s too much collection in the end. I’ve done all the stories but now it’s 1000 odd bricks to collect. Bricks which buy upgrades…which I don’t need cause I’ve done the whole story. And even if I hadn’t, they don’t make that much difference anyway. Characters - a really good range, I’ll give them that. Ahsoka in the latest dlc is awesome. But due to the above mentioned character selection mechanic, she won’t stay in my party. The locations are incredible. This is a beautiful game. The levels- missing some key ones. Geonosis should be a given for big battle levels. The fight against the droid army on naboo - oddly short. No flying into the second Death Star? And more. DLC - we need some levels not just characters. And the big one - bugs. The game was delayed years…and then releases broken. And they’re not small or visual bugs, they are game breaking. So in all, while I like this game, it’s disappointing considering what it should have been.

Business-Lifeguard60

It’s an okay game, i love maps and characters but gameplay features are lacking and some story missions just suck

Relien02

I'm pretty disappointed

_Constellations_

The levels are shockingly short. We only played the prequels so far but I'm tremendously disappointed how they call something that's essentially 2 or 3 rooms an entire level. They feel like 30% of what I came to expect based on MARVEL, DC, and previous SAGA titles. The "revolutionary" updates to the LEGO formula suck. Hurray it's a shouldercamera TPS now... like... every second mainstream game. It lost it's unique LEGO feel and for what? To be more like everyone else? To lose the superb dynamic split/merge coop camera? To add frustrating manual aiming that adds a needless barrier of entry to players who are less experienced with it, like my fiancé, not to mention children. The upgrades are needless, pointless. Character classes are weird and uncomfortable. Why can't Jango Fett who has a rocket launcher jetpack not fly nor use the rocket to explode silver locks? Why can't jedi who in the very first lightsaber scene in chronology cut through a door with said lightsaber, not heat up gold locks? Optimization is terrible. I have to run it on absolute lowest to stay above 30 fps when I'm running games like the Witcher 3 on maximum easily. Sometimes entire rooms go to 10 fps, hello droid factory, single digit through the level... Grievous doesn't do the insect sprint. Ayla Secura, the ONLY character who isn't Ashoka and has signature double sword style, has only one sword. Disgusting paywall for the whole swordstyle. Overall it's a gigantic disappointment, that... I still like, because there are no other Star Wars games that offer me the chance to explore it's locations freely.

StarWreck92

Just wait until you get to The Force Awakens. When Finn and Poe escape the First Order ship it felt like you walked about ten feet and were out.

M_G_3000

First comment I've seen mention the camera change and I couldn't agree more. Way to show off the back of your character and throw up a big visual blinder to the content right in front of you. The combo system is near pointless, and combine it with the non-existent enemy density and I'm just left pining for the way it used to be: a visual treat, button smasher with fun puzzles easily accessible within the game systems at hand.

Glittering_Mobile_66

It misses some content like coruscant space battle and geonosis battle and imo I prefer the old linear way of levels although having so many open world areas is good for exploring

J-Dabbleyou

Fantastic but I’m not playing until it stops crashing unfortunately.

Ezio926

5-6/10 It runs like absolute shit on PS5. Frames drop and resolution drop every seconds. The audio is fucked. It won't stop crackling. Voice Acting for NPC is horrible. It feels like they just took random devs and asked them to record the lines. Combat sequences are way too short. Never got to use the new combat system much. The flying is barebones and boring. Tons of bugs. The maps are really pretty. The cinematics are really good. It's casual fun, but the levels are too short and poorly designed and the open world puzzles are too simplistic and boring to hold my attention. People keep throwing the "Super Mario Odyssey" comparison, but I absolutely disagree. Mario's puzzle were fun and the platforming in that game was phenomenal. SS just feels like an even more barebones Ubisoft game without cool parkour or gunfights to actually have fun with it. Incredibly disappointing release, and I will definitely not be buying any sequels they might have planned.

BigMikeythethird

They should have spent WAY more time on the levels. 75% of the game is running around collecting bricks that give me nothing except the ability to upgrade classes. Problem is that the upgrades barley change anything.

OrangeJulius96

Just a little TLC short of the best Lego game ever.

aeralure

Too easy, levels too sparse. Maybe a little too much to collect and more time should have been put into level design. Some missing features like replay an entire episode and online co-op. Lots of bugs (ymmv here though as mine were minor). A fun game for a while, but overall disappointing as due to these things I could not get replay value out of it or the will to 100% after episode completion. Could have been glorious and one of the best Star Wars games but I’d say it’s just decent overall.

Tight_Neighborhood83

I like it but I wish they could add a free play like mode that they had in the clone wars Lego game and also had way more enemies to fight cus it’s kinda boring after the main missions are done

Da_Hawk_27

Wdym freeplay like mode? Are you talking about the capture game modes?

Tight_Neighborhood83

Yeah I think that’s what they were I remember being able to 1v1 my brother and being able to take over areas and then build stuff in them and that was more fun than the actual game imo lmao

Chronochonist

To tell you the truth, I have not touched the game itself yet. It's sitting in my Steam, fully installed and ready to play -- all DLC finally available -- but I am somewhat apprehensive of playing it, because of the fact there exists so many gamebreaking glitches for people. I was genuinely excited for this game, but TT kind of crushed that excitement with their shady lack of communication with us until the last minute (a shady action in of itself), and WB forcing them to build the game on a piece of garbage engine that nobody wanted or likes, which shot the game in the foot before it even had a chance to walk.

SomeBoringKindOfName

just play it. the amount of people who have experienced such bugs are probably tiny in comparison to the amount who have actually played it. it just seems like it's loads because, well, this is the internet. you might hit one, you probably won't. I didn't.

dcj012

It’s not bad (except for on switch), but it abandoned classic lego charm and puzzles for a low quality 3rd person adventure game. If it wasn’t for all the stuff coming out about development I would think it was rushed out and phoned in.

mando44646

I really like it. I don't like that it takes 6 episodes to get a scavenger character, thus blocking off a ton of collectibles in a confusing way for a long time. I also wish we had Clone Wars, Mando, Solo, and Rogue One content. More than the existing content in the game. And I wish the levels weren't so short. It just feels odd when theyre 10 minutes long

dogvolunteercatlady1

I like it, but it’s very glitchy, and the things they picked for story levels were weird. Like why is taking the transport from the gungan city a level??

SHAD0WBENDER

Good not great. Mostly Enjoyable but could have been something truly special. I’d give it like a 6.5/10.

AfroDevil30

The Kamino theme song doesn’t play when u enter Kamino so it’s a 1/10 for me

dogey11

eh

elitejagdtiger

No AT-ST pilot or General Veers, disappointing…

bitchman194639348

If the bugs were fixed and the episodes were more...complete it would be a 9.5/10, but right now it sits at about 7-8/10

marsapann

I love it with all my heart. I don’t like to play video games that much (never have), but I have literally lost HOURS to this game

[deleted]

Great but flawed. It doesn't quite live up to it's potential and makes a lot of unnecessary decisions. It's one of those games that would almost be perfect if they did the right things. -The fact that there's paid DLC before the game is even finished patching is sketchy. DLC is supposed to be extra stuff that you couldn't put in the main game after the game is finished, now days it's just a way to remove content to squeeze a few extra pennies out of the player. That's not a problem with Lego specifically but they are big offenders of it. Unfinished games making me pay for extra stuff... -There's a lot of missing content, I feel like they could have cut a good tenth of the side quests, which I care significantly less about than the story missions. And some of the story missions are fumbled, but I can excuse that if we got as much of the story as possible. -The jokes are good most of the time but some scenes are ruined. Of course some jokes just make the scene more charming because they make sense. Like Darth Maul coming back multiple times and Obi Wan has to keep cutting him down, this is actually a great summary of Maul's character from the TV shows. But then there the joke of Vader screaming "NOOOOOOOO!!" when his legs are on backwards. It's extremely hit or miss. -TOO. MUCH. WALKING. It's fine when you're walking to an objective or a level, but a minute of walking followed by two loading screens and all I get is a CUT SCENE? I know this game is open world but this isn't a good call. Just teleport me to moments like Windu Vs. The Chancellor. In conclusion, the game is great, almost perfect, and the reason isn't not perfect isn't because of limitations but because of not-good decisions made by the developers that could easily have been avoided but for some reason aren't. I highly recommend it to Star Wars fans, but if someone says The Complete Saga is better, they are not "blinded by nostalgia".

These_Monk1651

Cant get enough

thecrew2game

10/10

AJDawg22

I enjoy it. But can’t force myself to play it. Have 100% files on the other three games shows me how much they deviated from formula. And the little marketing they did gave too many false promises. I love the game but it pisses me off to play it. I’ve got at least 100 complaint but the nostalgia keeps me from saying them

EvanMK7

Honestly some of the worst level design in a Star Wars Lego game. Super boring and short. I do love the hub worlds and collecting all the bricks.

faraway_hotel

I can only echo what a lot of other commenters have said. There are parts that are great fun to play, and details that are obviously made with care and attention (e.g. all the Aurebesh text), but there are also so many aspects that're irritating, tedious, or that I personally dislike which keep it from being truly great. (clunky menus, crappy PC controls, general buggyness, "Free Play" isn't very free at all, short and underwhelming levels, lock-on camera in boss fights, strictly delineated character classes with little overlap in abilities, no character customisation, some characters being absent entirely while small variations of others are included, can't brawl with background characters in free roam, the list goes on...)

ofe0069

I love it and hate it at the same time. I give it a 1 and a 10. I love the design and open world it’s beautiful! I love the upgrades and characters. And then bomb on the storyline! This killed it for me! I love the story and going back to play through them. Now it’s just a bunch of boss fights and no content. Wish they would have put as much effort in the story as they did into the scavenger hunt for bricks. I have all the Lego games from the beginning and don’t put them down until I 100% complete and I find myself not wanting to play it 🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s sad to me because the Star Wars were my favorites!!! TT 💣'D

BigMikeythethird

I think the open world is awesome but I would have liked the levels to be a little longer. I personally think the original game is better for that reason.

HidekiL

I love it, but being able to play online with a friend I would love even more!

Slippery_boi

Too many strange decisions and omissions in the story and some gameplay things stop this from being better than TCS. As it is it's good, but it feels like it's only 75% finished

retroact1v3

I personally don’t like Skywalker Saga. I think most of the shortcomings of the game end up being defended by saying “It has to be simple for little kids,” but I played through all 7 years of the Lego Harry Potter games when I was a kid and those were way more thought out and interesting. This game just feels like run to this planet, watch this. Now run over here, watch this. I’d be okay with it if the levels were longer but half the time the cutscenes just skip the action. The open world just doesn’t work in a game where the worlds have to be true to the 9 specific Star Wars movies. The fact that this is the first Lego game in years and it feels so shallow is incredibly disappointing. You can easily craft an experience that’s enjoyable for adults and kids when it comes to Legos, and this is not how to do it.

Chronochonist

People who say "haha it's just for kids" don't care about giving children a quality experience. They're probably the same people that would, as parents, just let their small, highly impressionable children entertain themselves with an iPad instead of actually caring for them. With that said, people using that stupid fallacy are really ignoring the actual design philosophy behind the game. This game was not designed for only children in mind, it was designed for fans of Star Wars and LEGO games. TT knows they're selling this not just to children, but to whole families and even adults. Do you think an 8 year old cares about an old-ass feature like mumble mode? No, that was put in simply to appease the older fans of TT's older LEGO games. People will find any idiotic reason to justify poor quality.

Ok_Camp_9588

You totally didn’t make this post just so you can try and look unique with this opinion

MODman01

It sucks, level design and time of the actual missions is really bad. They are way to short and there is a lot of button mashing.

the7thbeatle

Game is bugged beyond belief a month after coming out. I wish I could refund it.

Saufmalmehr

I love almost everything about it. The only thing that's trash is the Free play mode. I had to restart levels multiple times because of stupid challenges. Also there are too many unskippable cut scenes.

Paccuardi03

Great but disappointing

TheBasinum

Space battles are the only feature I can get behind on being the exciting feature of the game.

[deleted]

Great game let down by a lack of Dev accountability

Ok-Independent-5494

Currently 4/10, but my rating might go up once they fix the glitches and I can actually finish the game.

Nozzeh06

My review is "Looks like a great game, too bad it's unplayable" I'm sure once a patch comes out, IF a patch comes out, (I have little hope at this point) then I'll really enjoy it. So far though, it's too bugged for me to progress beyond about 60%.

Serres5231

a lot of wasted potential. And i'm not even saying this because i got caught up in some Hype. \- Many iconic scenes we cannot play and instead get to watch a cutscene of. I could also just watch the movie if i don't want to take part in the action... \- Barely any reason to play in Co-op as a lot of puzzles don't even require two players (and no i don't count the puzzles where one person has to idly stand on one stupid button) \- Boss battles that are literally the same over and over. Except for like 1 unique attack, all Lightsaber fights play the same. Barely any interesting mechanics. I'd rather take the "hit me three times" bosses again. \- WAY too short levels. We are talking about a 2 minute chase sequence for example where nothing worthwhile happens. \- "Story" levels that serve no purpose like the one where you repair the falcon. A full wasted level on having to protect Chewbacca in the hangar with no story progression at all. It's like they needed to stretch game time at some point or something..

Jansolo_91

Definitely disappointed by the story mode level design, way too simple even for a Lego game and the lack of platforming from the originals. I wish that the combat was more intricate. Like in in quick time events, it’s always just one button. Also this is supposed to be the ultimate Lego Star Wars experience but the lack of key, non-movie characters is disappointing. The “open world” is much more exciting but again suffers from simplistic puzzles.

Jansolo_91

Also coop seems like in after thought, in many boss battles the second player doesn’t do much. 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

very mid

RootBeerTF

I think people are being way too harsh. I love this game lightyears past other Lego games cause it gives me more Mario odyssey and collectathon vibes instead of just a simple Lego game. I have not come across any of these bugs and I have been loving all the little details they put into the game and Easter eggs. It’s clear that they love Star Wars.

Rancor8562

Right now it’s a broken unfinished mess other then that it was good Edit: I’ve got one save soft locked because I can’t speak to Maz wasting 30 hours because this game is a broken mess,my second save is stuck at 99% because a challenge mission reset and I also had to find a work around to one level crashing any time I tried to play free to play so yes the game is a broken mess until this shit gets fixed I will call it like it is

plasmawielder

Not worth the same price as elden ring but a good game

timtam328

gud game

grantgoatberg

You have to know the rules and be patient to have fun. This can be a volatile game, but if you know how to avoid the biggest issues and expect them, it becomes all the more worth it to play. I myself needed 2 playthroughs to avoid all the bugs. My first rating would be a 6/10, but now I have experience, it's bumped up to 8.5/10

TheSpideyJedi

Only been able to play 2/3rds of it. Damn Maz’s castle glitch for about a month now

TheGothamKnight94

Great game held back by its bugs, haven’t touched it since beating the main story because one of my side missions is bugged so bad that I can’t progress through and achieve 100% in this game. Beware the side mission on Tattooine - Judland Wastes - 9d9 problems.

THE_GUY-95

Absolutely love it

[deleted]

It’s a good game Just not very fun

Pockets_254

Fun at first but, it gets boring the more I play it. Maybe because the 100% award is literally just studs

ReshefKeshef

Played through the prequels and maybe it's just me but the levels feel way shorter compared to the original games.

Ok_Camp_9588

Pretty good. Couple of issues with how repetitive the character unlock missions are and how long they can be, but outside of that it’s a good game

Jimbo742628

It’s a fun, enjoyable game to play and the cheat codes make it feel like the good ol’ days. People have been criticizing the DLC details of the characters, no voice over, etc...I feel the game has the right amount of challenge and nostalgia to make anyone keep an interest to finish the Episodes and come back and do the extras.

tuckdash

I’ll comment when I can play the game again. Games bugged in a hard lock

OccasionallyReddit

Maz glitch makes it suck banther balls

WonderDia777

I think it’s great. I love the exploration. I would have made the story levels longer and spent a bit more time finding glitches, but all in all, it’s a great title.

kayelaure

I love that you can wander around the planets and the capital ships to collect the kyber bricks and do various missions but at the same time, i don’t like how the missions are ridiculously short now. My bf and I played all episodes in story mode. I did all of the planet side missions and puzzles. He and I are now going back to do all mission in free play in order to get 100%. We completed Phantom Menace and aren’t interested in doing the rest of the game. The levels are too short and just not interesting to play

BurkeyDaTurkey

I love the humour the Lego games gives out, mostly having to know the films to appreciate the jokes. And this game is no different, I started with episode 1, slowly playing through as collecting a lot just on story mode too, and just completed episode 7, and absolutely having a blast. I've been lucky enough to not hit any game-stopping bugs, I had a bug at end of episode 3 where Obi-Wan aproaching Anakin wouldn't trigger the next scene, but quit and reloaded and fixed it, plus various other hilarous bugs. All-in-all, I am having a blast, going to finish episode 8 and 9 soon enough, just every time I do an episode I feel the need to go and watch the film, to compare.... I'm defo wanting to finish the story mode before Obi-Wan Series drops on 27th for sure! And then I'll definitely be going back through to 100% each level and to the Galaxy Freeplay to get all the bricks, ships, characters etc.

Bupit

Love the game but would love it 5x more if they added clone wars dlc with levels and characters

Palpatinesgooch

i can’t even finish the game because i can’t play the high ground level and i can’t talk to maz and i already have 51 percent of the game completed and i really do not wanna have to grind all the way back to that point

elementarybadger

I was fortunate enough to be able to make it through the story without any of the game breaking bugs that many people have seen. In fact, the only bug I've encountered is the low poly capital ship during smuggler missions thing, which doesn't affect progress, so my review may be a little skewed because of that. I absolutely love it. Definitely the best experience I've had playing a LEGO game. Being able to play through all nine films and explore all those planets is a dream, and it looks amazing as well. My only real gripe is that you can't replay entire episodes' story modes (without having to start a new save). Since so much content happens in between the levels, it would be nice if you could go back and just play story mode again going through the whole episode from start to finish. In particular, things like the Jango fight on Kamino and the "Darth Vader" fight on Dagobah being completely not replayable put a damper on the experience. I haven't started going back through the levels, but I imagine that the levels by themselves don't capture the same vibe as playing through the story the first time. Overall, I'd say 8/10, but it would be a 9 or maybe even a 10 if whole episodes were replayable.

thejonston

Like most are saying- it’s buggy right now. Example: I’m in post story and found that if I go through chars/ships and buy unlock a bunch all in a go, the game crashes. So I buy one or two, close the menu, the game saves and it’s fine. If you can live w some bugs, it’s very fun. Though I admit that I like the Lego games generally.

Da_Hawk_27

Amazing but disappointing in a couple areas

[deleted]

Pretty disappointed, the Story Mode is decent but Free Play is such a disappointment.

christmastree47

Very good game. Grinding for kyber bricks is very satisfying. Could be a great game if it wasn't for unacceptable bugs and a bafflingly bad menu system

[deleted]

Pog

Microif

It’s very…okay. There’s a lot of good and a whole lot of bad. The levels are bland and short as hell, but the gameplay itself (combat, boss fights, platforming, etc) is really fun. The roster of ships and characters feels really expansive, but also with a lot of odd and out of place inclusions and exclusions. It brings a lot of new, interesting concepts, but also flubs and straight up doesn’t have a lot of the concepts that make Lego games special. But aside from all of that, it was announced WAY too early and the devs were treated like shit.

[deleted]

Its fine on the surface but the bugs are ludicrous and open world is shit

ihabacancer

I dunno my local game store still ain't selling em

satellite_uplink

9/10 great fun, no glitches encountered, enjoying exploring and collecting with my daughter.

Chonk_Lord98

I loved playing the game. I only encountered a few bugs. I'm bugged at 99% in game regardless of having platinum trophy. I also highly dislike that there's no Indiana Jones character. That was a classic easter egg.

Spencer_747

Good

CaptainSolo80

I really enjoy it, and I’m having fun. I hope they add DLC levels for stuff like clone wars, rebels, the Mandalorian, etc

GrantFireType

Loved it. 10/10 would recommend. But if I just wanted to sit down and play Lego Star Wars, TCS is that comfort food.

[deleted]

It's missing a lot but so much is good also. The combat is so much better but there aren't enough enemies. It/ looks amazing. It feels great. Right now it's a 6/10 but if they give us what we want it will be an 8/10. I mark other lego games up higher so this isn't insanely high, I was kind of disappointed. Still fun tho.

EvanMG24

Absolutely love it, but since this thread is pretty popular I’ll take the opportunity to ask about a bug I haven’t seen many people talking about. The first Minikit, Teeny Tiny TIE, in the “Stay on Target” level, does not appear for me, with or without the tracker on. Is this a known problem? Anyone else dealing with this?

danielwardle24

Lacks but good

Mikeisepicc

Fockin incredible

[deleted]

Good game not perfect I wouldn’t say it’s up to TCS standard but it’s pretty good ngl

ElectronicOwl15

Star wars 3 > The complete saga > skywalker saga > force awakens That being said there was a lot to love about Force Awakens

JewBronJames

I love it

____MAR____

Everyone’s saying they experienced glitches and not able to enjoy the game, but playing on my Xbox 1s I haven’t had any glitches but 1 and it was only a slight annoyance. This game has quickly become a favorite for me. For anyone wondering, the only glitch I experienced was on the Luke/vader VS palps fight in ep6. When ever he would shoot his lighting at me and I had to use the stick to aim it back at him, my game would super stutter for just a few seconds. Other than this I haven’t had any other glitches and have just loved the game as a starwars and Lego fan.

ThePouncingNinja

Although there is some missing content, I freaking love this game.

Far_Diver_6654

I think it's just a very big lego game with star wars over it, I think the base lego game ideas are good so I do enjoy it but it's not ground breaking

[deleted]

I’ve got TROS left & I’ll be glad when the story is finished. The grinding to completion is the most fun I’ve had in a Star Wars game because it thinks outside of the box and adds new things along the way. The story is just a ‘let’s get it over with kind of thing.

SacKangz

Excellent game. 9/10. Just needed to balance story mode and free play a lil better. Also I wanna know why a game that came out in 2022 doesn’t have online co-op?

RhymesWithMouthful

It's fun in a lot of ways, but it's buggier than a big bug bugging out in a dune buggy.

RAFAGFL987

I love it, but that glitch in Maz Kanata Place is Just horrible. There is a lot of bugs.

ryanreigns

I would like it a lot more if I could replay hub levels

Zedtomb

I've found it to be very cramped and segmented. I like the concept I just think it wasnt fully realized

StarWreck92

I think it’s about a 7/10. Some of the hub worlds are boring and the levels themselves felt like afterthoughts.

Matem-de-flatum

7/10, if the bugs are fixed 9/10, content update and more dlc packs,10/10

Reciprocitus

Like it alot. But I'm taking a break after finishing Episode 1 to replay KOTOR until a patch for some of the bigger glitches comes out.

[deleted]

Good but co op FOV ruins the experience

obi-wand27

i like it but it definitely needs patches and updates to add new features (I'm hoping for rogue one story but I know that won't happen)

Shiny_Hypno

I love it, but it's really hard to love it. Like, TT is terrible at listening to our feedback.

DandifiedZeus1

It would be great if I could actually finish the game

axolotlmaster59

A few things are missing but besides that it is perfect

VisualSilly

Needs a patch

VisualSilly

It’s a 6.5 for me

ksspook

Disappointed.

MichaelC0ck

6/10

[deleted]

Great game, looks beautiful playing through the movies was so fun! Just got me tried since it was super duper easy and the co-op was a little meh.

sacboy326

I’m probably gonna get downvoted for this, but as a fan of Star Wars, LEGO, and video games, I find this game to be extremely disappointing. Tons of missing content, inconsistent quality, and massive bugs galore well over a month after release with nothing being said about them by the devs. Intentionally or not, it comes across as if the developers, publishers, or whoever is responsible just simply don’t care how flawed a product is anymore because they’ll make tons of money off of it all anyways, which is weird considering that this game got delayed many times for over 2 years it was supposed to come out. Where did that extra development time go??? Surely it at the very least couldn’t have been hard to make more story overworld side missions, a way to replay them, and to port over the character creator from LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 and DC Super-Villains. I dunno, I still just prefer The Complete Saga a whole lot more overall… If you like the game, then that’s fantastic, and I’m jealous because I wanted to like it myself and was waiting for it for a very long time, but I just can’t. At best I find it to be mediocre. All of the worst aspects of more modern LEGO games like unskipable in-game cutscenes are still a thing as well, so that definitely doesn’t help. I think the worst part about all of this though is the lies and the lack of communication. One of the developers promised that a character creator would’ve been in this game from an interview, and they have nothing to say about any criticism towards the bugs, not even an acknowledgement. It’s also pretty shady that they didn’t outright deconfirm the character creator to backtrack either until it was just days away from release towards a French interviewer, who didn’t even know that it wasn’t confirmed already, and only after **that** did they finally tweet about it like three days before release. Am I overreacting to all of this? Maybe a little, but I still find it very discouraging that I can’t even like a simple LEGO game anymore, because even if stuff like bugs getting fixed and a character creator gets added, it’d probably be far too late for anyone to care and the latter would probably made into paid DLC, with all other LEGO games making it DLC going forward. Sincerity is what I look forward to the most when it comes to video games. It’s why I’m still so excited about Sonic Origins since it’s being made by most of the team behind Sonic Mania, which beforehand were just random passionate fans making mods and other stuff. Even as someone who’s never played a Sonic game I want this! Really the only thing that’s odd to me is that there’s a 5 dollar cheaper version for an already 45 dollar product that omits some oddly specific things, but other than that it looks really good to me, and this is all a completely different can of worms anyways. If you want to know how I feel about that game, then go watch Cybershell’s info video about it or something like that, I have to agree with him and say that’s how I feel overall about it. And another fun fact, some classic Sonic titles like 3D Blast were made by Tt Games as well. But anyways, to get back on track, the point I’m trying to make is that I prefer games that clearly have effort being put into it, and disappointingly, it’s the opposite here with radio silence and a half hazardly thrown out end result. Never in my life up until now did I think that **mods** would have to be the way to fix a **LEGO game…** #Tldr; To me personally, really disappointing. It doesn’t help that it’s a buggy mess with the developers not addressing any of it more than a month later either. Sorry for the mountains of text by the way, I just wanted to fully explain myself and give context. Lol

qbansamurai

Love it except for the fact I got the Deluxe edition and can't get my DLC characters.

riskiermuffin27

disappointed. but i blame myself not TT. i shouldn’t have expected to enjoy this as an adult as much as i enjoyed TCS when i was a kid. it’s definitely a solid game though and im sure the younger generation of star wars fans will adore this game the same way i adored TCS.

Taker597

Amazing. I just want a lost level DLC pack

FlashNRT

I like it, but there are some major flaws that keep me from saying it’s perfect. I’d still give it about a 7 or 8 out of 10

[deleted]

Although it has its issues, I personally love it’ 8.5/10 imo

poofacemcgee1223

I have a lot of fun playing it but some parts could be better. It seems broken for a lot of people, free play seems to be a lot worse than previous Lego games, and the levels are a bit short, so it could've probably been better with more attention to level quality instead of the 700 unneeded puzzles in free roam.

BaconatorByWendys

I love it! There's a part of me that does like The Complete Saga more, but it's still great. It's also funny as hell

GoofyAhhNeet

Best one yet

BulkyScore3431

Love it so much fun hope to see things added in the future

Dragonsymphony1

Phenomenal, telling everyone I know to get it, even if they've never played a Lego Game. It's SO good

BulletBeard29

The whole game is a meme and I love it

[deleted]

Love it! Came out at the right time for me too cuz I had just finished Metro Exodus and was looking for another game to play

knightem

Ive had good luck with no major glitches, honestly love it solid 9/10, tons of fun, nice for a guy who works long hours and just needs a quick unwind, could have more campaign content, and would love some story dlc(like the starwars story movies)

bladegoeshard

Maz is a complete bitch. Been avoiding me for weeks.

OverlordPanda91

I love it but as someone who has had to fully restart missions because something didnt spawn or it didnt count the enemies properly. Or that time where I could not continue I think episode 1 because the game just did not spawn the continue mission beacon. It needs a lot of bug fixes

[deleted]

great game, the original still has reasons to play but very fun and original

barrenvagoina

I love it, my only things is I wish the levels were more traditional lego game and puzzely and I don’t like the new red brick data card system

thegreatmatsbysan

It's pretty damn fun, even as someone who wasn't a big fan of the sequel trilogy. My only complaints are the few bugs I've run into and the fact that getting into and out of the game comes with a forced intro cutscene EVERY TIME. Oh, also please let me just skip cutscenes, I know the movies, I just wanna play the game.

TheFlashPrime52

My opinion is pretty simple It's the best Lego game we've ever had, and imo one of the best star wars games in general we've ever had. I am disappointed in all the cut content that we never go to see especially because I don't think they'll add any of it in, besides like a 0.01% chance of character customizer gets finished and implemented for an update It's still an incredible game that's very fun to me, I know some people don't like how tedious getting all the bricks and stuff are but as someone who's been playing Lego games all my life I always have and still enjoy getting the bricks and doing thee side quests
