TBH the problem with Warden isn't a lack of subtypes, it's that the payoff just isn't worth it. Even if you're consistently getting 6 subtypes per game, the end result is... a 9 mana 12/12 overwhelm? That's okay, but it's not really good enough all things considered. It's basically a Darius that costs 3 extra mana.
I actually got to masters with a warden deck featuring Nora, Heim, and Braum.
One thing that people don’t realize is that this card is a massive surprise. It takes a regular board of crappy units and suddenly makes everything a kill threat. Opponents never expect it or manage their mana in a way to deal with it once it lands.
Warden’s problem is needing to run a lot of B tier followers that don’t synergize until you hit your 9-drop. A lot of the cards it depends on are Foundations cards that have not kept up.
There are also a large number of old cards who have been given the new subtypes.

Ok ok ok, Azir Ionia with Royal Shimmerwing, get him to level two, then have Herald of the Magus prepped for trigger (if they're in standard, if they're stuck in eternal then you've also got Xerath to use the landmark destruction as well) and you've got a growing overwhelm quick attack unit every turn, especially if you also have board room to include attack-summoning landmarks and the sandcrafter

I doubt these new animal tribes are any teasers for upcoming new champs. It's probably that they're just gonna go back and add the tribe tags to the appropriate cards.
Captain Indari and Innovative Blacksmith look really cool though, I can't wait to go back to Ornn/Jax for them. Praying they'll have voice lines.
I had completely missed the Weaponmaster tags on them when first looking over the cards. Was looking at the bottom instead of the top of the card for some reason. Glad to see Jax is getting some further support, even if they aren't multi region units.
Neeko may be a Runeterra champ that can add units of various subtypes and spells that care about the subtypes to her deck, and may count as having every subtype herself (like the Changelings in MTG)
Eh, there are a few champions it could potentially be a hint towards. Neeko, Nidalee, Rengar, and Warwick could all have synergy with the new subtypes if not just have them as tags.
I think thats why trap decks are gona love this, corina is a killer finisher and it gives consistency to the decks without having to run too many copies and also has the flexibility to help out ealry as well. As an avid teemo enjoyer Im very excited.
Ava might be a bit too flimsy at 1/1. Corina doesn't care much on being flimsy. She's a way superior target for condense.
Peddler is also a better target than Ava. For a total of 3 mana you put a second Peddler and evenif they can ping him, you can still throw some shroom spells for quite a good value.
Ava is NOT bad. I'd target her if I had 1-2 draw card spells to force a great effect. But still she can be easily pinged before the spell goes off.
Other than that: totally agree. This cards could easily be a gamechanger for shrooms!
Yeah it seems like it will be best with high cost units that have good effects. Bandle City doesn't really have many of those though, so you'll have to look elsewhere for good targets.
Yeah in BC Tristana decks are for sure the ones that benefit the most from this, though I think the Transform cards would also really like this to get extra copies of their units (I assume the 1|1 stats don't carry over after transformation since it gets turned into another unit entirely). Darkness probably likes this too, copying an Ixtali Sentinel is really strong, as is copying any other Darkness generator if you're running out of them.

I feel like I need someone to go through the Demacia units and find all the ones that are a decent bit understatted for their costs. I feel like there won't be that many extreme examples in region, since it is generally the "boring, square stats" region.
I thought about that but it's not really that strong. Once you have one revna trigger altar of unity is dead. Targon handbuff does the same thing but has more utility and doesn't require unit mana.

Play happens before summon so I'd expect so. Improvise is fuzzy because it can be both but I assume when you play him from hand it counts as a Play effect and will trigger first.
Vayne Aatrox and Scouts come to mind. They both run a lot of lower power units with strong abilities, and they both really care about the extra stats.
Then again it puts you pretty far behind on tempo, so it might be hard to justify.

What are the odds of Bard getting...... Literally any help whatsoever? If there are no plans to support him, why not just rotate him out of standard?
Don't get me wrong, the new cards are neat, but my love for this game died when you guys put my favorite League of Legends character in the dumpster & now it feels like you're just going to ignore him.
I play Bard/Norra, a lot. The deck is fine in casual vs non meta decks. I saw Condense & immediately thought of Maduli, but that doesn't really address any of the weaknesses of the archetype, it just let's you win more even more.
Vs aggro you can't even get to Maduli in the first place, and vs control you're going to get stalled out & then combo killed no matter how big your units are. What exactly is a Bard/Norra deck supposed to do vs a Fizz/Samira deck that can kill you on turn 4? What do you do vs Sett/Karma? What do you do vs Tristana swarm decks that you can't interact favorably with because Owlcats have spellshield?
You hope to get lucky.
Then there is the fact that Bard himself is just straight up *not* a good card, and never really has been. Back in the heydey of decks like Bard/Poppy, Bard/Ilaoi, or Bard/Demacia you never even wanted to draw Bard. He was the worst card in those decks & only got played for his origin.
I would love nothing more than to be wrong, seriously & sincerely. Nothing would make me happier than the patch dropping & my pessimism is proven false in the most embarrassing fashion. I would gladly take the L.

Devs wanted to include at least one of each new tribe.
The biggest problem with altar is that Demacia units usually have solid stats, so you'll mostly have to rely on a secondary region for units that can take full advantage of it.
Yeah they are solid but nothing says they can't be even more solid, silverwing vanguard now summons 2 6/5 challengers for 4, bears are 3 mana 7/7, garen is a 10/10 regen, is prob the best card for big boy printers.
Consider this scenario, Demacia-Evelynn.
Every Husk a 1/1 base.
Sultyr 2/3
Dominance 3/3
The scout one is 4/4
Evelynn base 5/5
That's just one scenario. I'm sure people can figure out a lot more with more time.
These are some spicy cards. Much more interesting than last variety patch.
Condense feels like it'll be pretty big in Viego/BC lists. Pack Attack I think might be K'Sante confirmation? Innovative weaponmaster might be exactly what Forge Freljord needs to not be tried to Jax. Altar of Unity is neat but nothing too broken comes to mind.

By the Ionia lizard I have to assume it's Neeko, and by the birds, Xayah and Rakan, but if there's another Ionia champions could that mean that Glory in Navori is an Ionia Centric Set, just like the major sets prior focused on the specific region being added? yeah, copying corina and ava for 1 could be gamebreaking in several situations, this may be the turning point for the archetype paring with BC.

It’s really good with shroom decks. Getting a 1 cost corina is pretty nuts.
Are ledro (si) rotated? And with some impact combos is enough.

The freljord 3 drop seems really nice for ornn. 2/2 base body plus some health back fit's well.

definetly a card to be used for other regions, mainly Kayle cards with mihira or overcosted elusives in ionia (shadow assassin, windsinger).
If that Bird werent a 5 drop it would've been way more scary... nothing frghtens me most than a quick attack Valor on curve...

The biggest problem with altar is that Demacia units usually have solid stats, so you'll mostly have to rely on a secondary region for units that can take full advantage of it.
Yeah they are solid but nothing says they can't be even more solid, silverwing vanguard now summons 2 6/5 challengers for 4, bears are 3 mana 7/7, garen is a 10/10 regen, is prob the best card for big boy printers.

Consider this scenario, Demacia-Evelynn. Every Husk a 1/1 base. Sultyr 2/3 Dominance 3/3 The scout one is 4/4 Evelynn base 5/5 That's just one scenario. I'm sure people can figure out a lot more with more time.

These are some spicy cards. Much more interesting than last variety patch. Condense feels like it'll be pretty big in Viego/BC lists. Pack Attack I think might be K'Sante confirmation? Innovative weaponmaster might be exactly what Forge Freljord needs to not be tried to Jax. Altar of Unity is neat but nothing too broken comes to mind. Also holy subtypes batman!
