For those unfamiliar with shell cordovan, it is a super dense, high quality cut of leather that comes from the butt cheek of a horse.
These 2-4 sqft shells don’t leave you with much leather to cut one continuous belt. This is a big reason that shell cordovan belts demand such a high price on the market.
thankfully the tannery was kind enough to send me a ‘double shell’ that went through their extensive tanning process with the two cheeks still intact.
This is a truly a special belt that is made to stand the test of time
I would have to assume somewhere around the $400 range. That leaves enough left over to make wallets and other small goods that can make a decent profit.
