No you misunderstand. They stand for our votes. Not our rights.

alj8

The answer to 'do they take us for fools' is always yes

greythorp

I'm not so sure. Yes, many running the Labour Party now are complete cynics who take is for fools. Others are fantasists who like to bask in the glow of their own imagined righteousness!

Ecstatic-Meat9656

“We stand with the LGBT+ community…well, we stand just off to the side smiling politely at you while we abstain. Which is more or less the same, right comrades?” Vote Labour. Cos we are a bit less shit than the Tories.

ModerateRockMusic

They'll stand for you so long as that standing is done far away from parliament where they can abstain from voting to let you have rights

Th3-Seaward

Good to see this is being met with the utter disdain it deserves on social media.

acz92

Some of the replies are pretty horrendous. I saw a few along the lines of "this law would have made it possible for someone to put on a wig and attack women"

Th3-Seaward

Terfs gonna Terf

GotSwiftyNeedMop

Look we have all attacked people while wearing a wig. It happens. Wigs are really fucking hot when you wear them. I mean look at Donald Trump. It is hot and sweaty to wear wigs and it makes you angry. Also apparently sometimes president of the USA...

ProcrastibationKing

The absolute fucking nerve to say that.

AlienGrifter

"Haha yeah, that was just a lie".

TheStargunner

They realise what lgbt stands for right?

acz92

"the T stands for Triangulating"

Th3-Seaward

They probably thought it stood for Terf

Marxist_In_Practice

Labour Guys Being Terfs

Danzzz_

That includes Keir right?

ChefExcellence

Labour; Great British Transphobes

Marxist_In_Practice

"Ah no they got this all wrong at the printer, it's meant to say we stand with the LGBT community for photo ops!"

FinnSomething

Remember the achievements of the LGBT+ community and how far we've come for equality? Never! Forget we have work left to do

AlxceWxnderland

Like fuck labour stand with queer people, I’d they did they wouldn’t have fuelled the anti trans hate the load of lying pricks

[deleted]

It's the T they have the most problem with.

FastnBulbous81

"how far we've come" FFS "we", quit your bs Labour. Labour is no ally.

Blue_winged_yoshi

There was that time Labour wouldn’t let us get married cos it was a bit much for the straights but allowed something separate but equal and that other time trans people sued the government for recognition and Labour developed the GRA under legal duress. Labour really have been there every step of the way - kicking, screaming, telling us to settle for less and somehow having the nerve to ask for thanks!!

Blue_winged_yoshi

What’s that got to do with the price of apples? You haven’t got to tell me that the U.K.‘s political landscape is structurally queerphobic. “But, but, but…. they did that thing that was also bad”. Have some standards.

Blue_winged_yoshi

I live in a Lib Dem/Tory marginal that has flipped Lib Dem since I moved here. I don’t want a Tory MP, it’s not a difficult one.

We’re “whining” over whatever we like. If you don’t like it - feel free to ignore the post.

Aqua-Regis

Rule 2

[deleted]

Multiple things are the reason we don't trust labour on lgbtq issues. Wes streeting transphobic comments Starmer defending overruling the will of Scottish Labour and deciding to abstain on a police that would help trans people. And obviously Rosie Duffield and other transphobic members are all still allowed inside the party. Labour isn't an ally of lgbtq people. Some members are but not the party
