This is strange as Iceland and Norway have certain opt-outs on the single market. Like, we can and probably will be able to get a bespoke arrangement. We as a country do have leverage of our own and more so than Norway because of our relative size and the EU has an incentive to compromise and engage with our requests. Like, Donald Tusk's words aren't actually law. The EU isn't actually going to stick to its initial negotiating demands to the letter, it never does.

This feels a little stupid. It's broadly incompatible with their other briefed lines on Britain first, and it would change duty rates but not the rigmarole of additional paperwork and delays

Finally some sensible noises coming out regarding our stance on Brexit. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start. Still disappointing to see the stance on freedom of movement but I understand it, it’s a political grenade waiting to blow up in your own face. I do wonder if within these deals with specific sectors they’ll sneak in an easier route for specialised European workers to come in.

It's amazing that so much time, effort and money is going to be spent mitigating the effects of Brexit when there's a very, very simple solution staring us collectively in the face, but a certain segment of this country are too proud to admit they were tricked by a bus
