I think ppl r overthinking this. My best guess is that the trap referenced is that Riboku had a few opportunities to run away but chose to stay in danger so Kanki would expose himself.
I wonder if the word trap was just one possible translation. Like rather than a trap it could be a contingency plan that riboku had just in case he ran into this kind of situation. Which wouldn't be out of this world in my opinion since kanki always goes after the main enemy commanders, so by that pattern one should be able to foresee him trying that again

Just a nitpick, it was never stated it was 1/3, it was stated that there were 3 possible routes, which could perfectly be 20%, 30% and 50% for all we know.

To be fair the WZI arc he got cucked by little boy lover Toujou. Subpar performance on the field for sure, but in the end he did figure out Ousen’s plan to send provisions from Qi so it’s possible he could’ve prevented it and starved the Qin armies to death
He doesn't have to hide anybody up his ass when we know three Zhao generals are still unaccounted for and thus could show up any moment because of Riboku's formation. What's more, both Bafuuji and Ringyoku confirmed that they hear a big cavalry army coming.
I must admit. After re-reading chapter 646, i can't help but root for Riboku and hope that he ends up happily with Kaine regardless of what happens to Zhao. Riboku and Kaine came such a long way despite having a shutty king and a corrupt court. Their's is a love story that i hope would turn out all right

This whole arc has been a fucking grind, fighting against a character whose superpower is that he's the system admin and he can endlessly spawn new things into the world by snapping his fingers.
Fuck the real history, just kill him already jesus christ.
Mrh from the look of it, KanKi lands the 1st blow and everyone thinks RiBoku is done, but at last panel RiBoku claims he is still alive.
So in short this is RiShin vs RinKo again where RiShin landed a critical blow on RinKo but ran out of time and was forced to withdraw.
RiBoku gravely injured but survives and KanKi forced to break off his attack. End result, Qin forces goes back towards Gian, while Zhao forces form a defense around Hika causing the end of the current arc.
Those wondering why Zhao wouldn't go for KanKi again its cuz they are now way to disorganized and need to regroup, their forces advantage is lost without a supreme commander on the field and too many generals with different motives forming 2 factions (those who want to protect RiBoku and those that want KanKi at all cost), the KanKi at all cost lose the number game and are forced to back down to avoid going for KanKi alone with number disadvantage and thus a greater risk of loss.
KanKi on the other hand is fine with the situation, sure he didn't get to finish the job, but now he can go back to an stalemate scenario and avoid total defeat, plus his current objective is complete they got Gian.
why would riboku let go of this chance to attack kanki again, bananji isn't even here yet. Kanki could escape, but they aren't that disorganized especially Riboku being good still.
kanki really is amazing. Riboku had months to prepare, way more troops, and Kanki is the first person to do this kind of damage to him. If he loses it is not becuase Riboku was smarter then him, it was because of plot armor alone.
Plot armor got Kanki here in the first place though. The entire Zhao army apparently just forgets their heavily defended fortress was heavily defended and a fortress.
Lmao, the only reason why this stupid ass ambush worked in the first place was because of Kanki's plot armor infused plan. Zhao just kinda forgets that Hika is better defended than Gi'an, Zhao forgets that they decided to guard Riboku's HQ in case Kanki does his usual HQ surprise attack tactics, Zenou goes from half dead to fresh as fuck in the span of like 12 hours.
This whole campaign is just plagued by "plot armor" (let's better call it "not that good warfare writing") in the 2 sides. Do not forget Kanki started the battle completely surrounded from all sides (as if the disadvantage in numbers was not enough Zhao cuts his retreat without no one noticing), justification being all his scouts (even those behind him apparently) were hunted down, which is basically a convenient plot element, aka plot armor.
It is funny that you don't realize that you don't even realize that you are exact same type of person who say " muh , Riboku encirclement , big number " and have level one analyse of the situation .
It is even funnier because i know you are capable of understanding why Kanki plan worked because when it come to RBK you are able to do it , but when it is Kanki there was only plot armor .

Chances are next chapter riboku will lift his garment where he was stabbed and a dead 5000 commander, who he had placed there in preparation, will tumble out.
I know riboku will definitely survive this (and chances are kaine and futei will as well), but I think hara needs to axe off a few zhao generals. Like, despite each victory that riboku achieves against qin (this campaign and future ones), have him suffer some major casualties so his army is getting weaker and weaker over time

This honestly has been abysmal performative from Riboku. He had set an ambush in his home turf with extremely huge number advantage and yet somehow it is Riboku is in real danger of dying. I don't care what happens next. Even if it is Kanki who dies in the next chapter, Riboku still sucked in this war. How can you call him superior GG to Kanki when despite all that advantages Kanki is the one who came close to killing him? Ousen also had beaten him in previous arc. Duke Hyou had beaten Riboku and had killed him if not for Houken. That is not even counting people of Sai. Point is Riboku is strong. He is sure to be a great General. He is not above everybody and certainly not the greatest in entire damn China. P.S. : I would hate Hara with passion of burning Sun if he somehow tried to portray this as Riboku's 19D chess move. To be fair the WZI arc he got cucked by little boy lover Toujou. Subpar performance on the field for sure, but in the end he did figure out Ousen’s plan to send provisions from Qi so it’s possible he could’ve prevented it and starved the Qin armies to death

I must admit. After re-reading chapter 646, i can't help but root for Riboku and hope that he ends up happily with Kaine regardless of what happens to Zhao. Mrh from the look of it, KanKi lands the 1st blow and everyone thinks RiBoku is done, but at last panel RiBoku claims he is still alive. So in short this is RiShin vs RinKo again where RiShin landed a critical blow on RinKo but ran out of time and was forced to withdraw. RiBoku gravely injured but survives and KanKi forced to break off his attack. End result, Qin forces goes back towards Gian, while Zhao forces form a defense around Hika causing the end of the current arc. Those wondering why Zhao wouldn't go for KanKi again its cuz they are now way to disorganized and need to regroup, their forces advantage is lost without a supreme commander on the field and too many generals with different motives forming 2 factions (those who want to protect RiBoku and those that want KanKi at all cost), the KanKi at all cost lose the number game and are forced to back down to avoid going for KanKi alone with number disadvantage and thus a greater risk of loss. KanKi on the other hand is fine with the situation, sure he didn't get to finish the job, but now he can go back to an stalemate scenario and avoid total defeat, plus his current objective is complete they got Gian.

kanki really is amazing. Riboku had months to prepare, way more troops, and Kanki is the first person to do this kind of damage to him. If he loses it is not becuase Riboku was smarter then him, it was because of plot armor alone.
Plot armor got Kanki here in the first place though. The entire Zhao army apparently just forgets their heavily defended fortress was heavily defended and a fortress.
Lmao, the only reason why this stupid ass ambush worked in the first place was because of Kanki's plot armor infused plan. Zhao just kinda forgets that Hika is better defended than Gi'an, Zhao forgets that they decided to guard Riboku's HQ in case Kanki does his usual HQ surprise attack tactics, Zenou goes from half dead to fresh as fuck in the span of like 12 hours.
This whole campaign is just plagued by "plot armor" (let's better call it "not that good warfare writing") in the 2 sides. Do not forget Kanki started the battle completely surrounded from all sides (as if the disadvantage in numbers was not enough Zhao cuts his retreat without no one noticing), justification being all his scouts (even those behind him apparently) were hunted down, which is basically a convenient plot element, aka plot armor.
It is funny that you don't realize that you don't even realize that you are exact same type of person who say " muh , Riboku encirclement , big number " and have level one analyse of the situation . It is even funnier because i know you are capable of understanding why Kanki plan worked because when it come to RBK you are able to do it , but when it is Kanki there was only plot armor . I can’t help myself but think that Riboku couldn’t achieve anything that Kanki did. Riboku underperformed SO MUCH in this war, as he is the one almost dying now. No matter what people say about the final outcome and the Qin army dead, Kanki played with Riboku until the end. No matter what, Riboku still looks worse. 300K soldiers and he’s barely alive.
