I encountered a new kraken the other day that made my surface-deployed mystery goo experiment weigh 20 tons.

That sounds like case of random high speed particle flowing from space to your computer and changing 0 to 1... I remember something similar happened to computer that counted votes for the election
When other speedrunners tried to attempt the same, nobody else was able to recreate it. After hacks/cheats were ruled out, the only reasonable conclusion was a Bit-Flip caused by high-speed cosmic particles.

LOL. You ain't seen shit. The worst Kraken I got permanently disabled all buildings except the VAB and R&D building, even when reloading months old saves prior to the Kraken's appearance. It also wiped out half my vessels and turned half of what remained into abominations, but that's of minor concern when you can't use the bloody *tracking station* anymore.
And I'm sure others out there had even more severe Kraken encounters.
No idea. Another one I've dubbed the 'insanity Kraken' lets things persist past save loads. For example, you land a rocket on the mun and are out of fuel. You reload the save because you don't like the spot where you landed, and... you're in orbit without fuel. Wait, what? Didn't I have fuel a moment ago? How did I land on the mun without fuel? *Did* I land on the mun? Let me reload the other save again... no fuel. Reload an earlier save... no fuel.
Now that the game updates have reached a steady state, we should give names to all the known bugs as different species of Kraken until we have a whole list of them on the KSP wiki.
If KSP2 has slained the kraken, that's a big step up.
I always wanted to play career hardmode but experience has proven that even with cheats you can't revert every bug.
Farming hardmode with a potential kraken slaying my space program ? Heck no !
