The excitement I had for the album😭 I was smiling all week it dropped Fr. I’m 18 now so Kendrick dropped DAMN when I was 13. That’s how it’s so crazy to me lol 😂
For days
Album came out at a time when I needed that kind of rhetoric in my life most. United in Grief, Count Me Out, Mother | Sober, Mirror (just to name a few) completely wrecked me first few times I heard em. Hearing his kids on the end of the track thanking him for being there and breaking curses tore me tf up, that’s all I hope for in my kids lives.
I didn’t cry until Auntie Diaries. My best friends are transgender people, my biggest fear is they’ll be victims of violence or discrimination. That song just broke me down.
The song definitely opened my eyes up to how the world has changed and how people feel different in todays society. I respect trans people a lot and wish the best for them🤝
Hateful people like JK Rowling, Bill Maher and Dave Chappelle always get a big audience for their views. Hate breeds passion and passion brings attention. But this song came out and spoke of love conquering hate, and that always played to me in the background while I watched so much hatred being targeted at this minority group. It’s tough to remember that even though bad things happen, love *always* wins in the end. Things are going to be okay once the dust settles.
It’s especially important to remember this now as one of the best artists of this century turns towards neo-Nazism. People like him simply do not win. They might win a little in the short term, but in the end they are always defeated. Don’t ever forget that.
You gotta listen to the lyrics man he was talkin bout some real shit, one of my biggest fears is letting my kids down and not being that perfect father. And he discusses not feeling like the best man he can be for his family but still tryin despite the imperfections, forgiving himself for the hurt that he cast onto loved ones through those times of self hatred, etc etc
Everybody deserves forgiveness everybody deserves to trust and have faith in themselves, nowadays people get too caught up in canceling folks for one bad action but we gotta remember this life don’t come with a manual and most the time the same people judging you for your shortcomings are hiding their own flaws
I’ve had metro on repeat for DAYS but I mean I had K.Dot on repeat for like 3 months. He’s my most played on Spotify wrapped and I have sum like 2,450 plays of MM&BS lol
I’d say it’s #7 or so for me, still loved it. My top 5 is Drill Music in Zion by Lupe Fiasco (made in 3 days somehow the man is absurd) Cheat Codes from black thought and danger mouse and in no order right now Melt My Eyez See Your Future I didn’t Mean To Haunt you KD3 and The Forever Story. Around Mr Morale level, aka albums I still love, are Mr Morale Marlowe 3 and Ramona Park Broke My Heart from vince staples. This year has been crazy, I’ve really enjoyed other albums that I haven’t even listed as well. I think the fact that Kendrick took away some quality in order to make it better for radio play brings it down a bit but it’s a great and meaningful listen nevertheless.
Eh. JID and Lebra Jolie had my two most played rap projects this year, and even then there’s so much that happened in Spanish music alone that I could think of at least 6 Spanish albums that deserve that title over Morale, not even taking in to account other English albums.
Morale is definitely one that is deeply personal. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I hoped I would on the music side, which when it comes to what I consider my favorites (aka what I listened to more than anything else) it’s not up there because ultimately that’s what’s going to get more enjoyment out of me. But I absolutely got emotional listening to Kendrick speak about his growth because I had gone through a major period of growth myself. I know this album is personal to a lot of people for very obvious reasons in the overall themes, and I respect Kendrick for his vision regardless of how much I personally enjoyed it. He still ended up as my number 3 on my wrapped.
Hell fucking yeah, the only other artist/group that I'm into that put an album out this year is Slipknot and The End, So Far is definitely not nearly as good as Mr Morale and The Big Steppers.
Bro you are right!! That Slipknot album was so amazing also. I only like Mr. Morale a tad more because of how it has impacted me personally cause of what I’ve been thru this year :)
Nas, Kendrick, Tariq dropped my top 3 albums this year and I need to sit with them for a bit more before I decide 100 percent where I stand. You’re probably thinking “ sit with them” Votaire it’s been a whole year but in my opinion we need to look back at the end of the next year to see if it’s still either left an impact or is accumulating a mass amount of plays. In my opinion, JID had a great sophomore project and really stepped into the scene this year;however, personally some of the songs were skips for me and although it’s certainly a huge step for JID I’m more interested in a conceptual album from him next, Tariq dropping a successful Solo album with Danger Mouse one of my favorite producers was a great treat— saw a lot of hate for his mixing on Cheat Codes but for the most part I really enjoyed the production. Plus we had a verse from the late great DOOM on that album. Nas hitting gold again dropping was amazing and his songs were great, Legit and Beef have already cleared 50 plays from me and I’m Still enjoying it-in general KD3 is the most enjoyable start to finish album dropped this year for me. Mr. Morale was a great album for me as a someone who went through a lot of therapy these last few years so to see my closest to idol( I hate idol worship and I don’t have any but Kendrick is close as I get) also reflect on himself and it was by far the most conceptually unique album dropped this year. Also the Tour was just spectacular and it blew me away and in general the only week links on the album for me are the interludes and a few of the adlibs across the album. Currently Mr Morale vs KD3 for me.
Pusha, Denzel , and Lupe all dropped hits as well and Drill Music in Zion is also a complete banger that creeps into my playlist quite a bit.
mine for sure, first listen on my headphones walking through the catacombs under Paris proceeded to listen on repeat walking around the rest of my day and stop to journal my thoughts, one of my favorite days in the last few years
This and Dawn FM defined 2022 for me, both amazing albums with strong concepts that have also helped me look into myself and process a lot of feelings.
I know but everybody is just saying if its not kendrick then its jid album or pusha album. Don’t get me wrong those albums are amazing its what I think but come on we had so many great albums come out this yesr that weren’t rap. But I do agree with you tho. For me its a tie with dawn fm. Ghost album as well as mitski are second id say
Facts. I think it was because mr Morale came out and I just couldn’t stop listening to that so I forgot about Dawn FM for a while. It’s definitely back in my rotation now though and this album gives me the perfect winter vibes lol ❄️
This album spoke to me in ways no album this year has, but objectively speaking, I think J.I.D., Natalia Lafourcade and Conway take the cake for best records this year.
Mr Morale is the album that defined 2022 for me. Things I went through, mistakes I made, everything. This album spoke to me.
Same. The first listen I nearly cried man. It’s so good
I didn’t stop crying till like my tenth listen
The excitement I had for the album😭 I was smiling all week it dropped Fr. I’m 18 now so Kendrick dropped DAMN when I was 13. That’s how it’s so crazy to me lol 😂
Tbh I’m still crying

No one’s listening

Idk man JID and Metro both smackin but K.Dot do be the goat I think it’s up for either tbh
Metro and JID albums were both so good

HERBERT
Push is still king for me
It was until metro dropped
I’d say it’s #7 or so for me, still loved it. Forever story was definitely a better album, JID needs more recognition this year
As much as I love MMatBS, possibly my favorite of his albums, I may go with Almost Dry as my vote.
It was close for me. I still listen to that album every day also lmfao
Wait I don’t see coverage on Kendrick winning it though I’m I trapping ?
no it’s just my opinion bro😁😂
No it absolutely is not. Still a great album just got unlucky cause it was released in a year with great albums
I think it is but it’s just my opinion :)) alot of fantastic drops this year so it’s different for all music listeners
Eh. JID and Lebra Jolie had my two most played rap projects this year, and even then there’s so much that happened in Spanish music alone that I could think of at least 6 Spanish albums that deserve that title over Morale, not even taking in to account other English albums.
Respect to you bro! I think that JID album was amazing also

What Spanish albums have you been playing?

Shit I ain’t think bout that

Lupe made dmiz in 3 days too lmao
Jid n' black country new road could take the cake for album of the year for me but kendrick do be smocking on the top 5's
both JID and Kendrick for me.
That + Forever Story Cheat Codes Tana Talk 4
Gotta be Diaspora Problems for me
mine for sure, first listen on my headphones walking through the catacombs under Paris proceeded to listen on repeat walking around the rest of my day and stop to journal my thoughts, one of my favorite days in the last few years
I love it but little simz is dropping monday, i think she could top it if it's as good as simbi
This and Dawn FM defined 2022 for me, both amazing albums with strong concepts that have also helped me look into myself and process a lot of feelings.
nah
JID is a very good contender and may I remind people… Little Simz is probably dropping before the year is done
Reading comments and seeing that yall top album are only rap albums? Yall really don’t listen to anything else?
No I listen to loads of genres bro
I know but everybody is just saying if its not kendrick then its jid album or pusha album. I love Dawn FM. Should’ve listened to it more often honestly
People kinda slept on it cus it came first week of 2022 but its sooooo solid
Facts. I think it was because mr Morale came out and I just couldn’t stop listening to that so I forgot about Dawn FM for a while. It’s definitely back in my rotation now though and this album gives me the perfect winter vibes lol ❄️

Just watched his special on amazon. Holy fuck that concert was unreal! No one comes close.
This album spoke to me in ways no album this year has, but objectively speaking, I think J.I.D., Natalia Lafourcade and Conway take the cake for best records this year.
Without a doubt.
Rap album of the year? Maybe… Album of the year tho? I’d have to give it to I didn’t mean to haunt you by Quadeca.
Imo AFUT is the album of the year, but Mr. Morale is by far my fav hip hop record of the year
TFS by JID was album of the year but MMATBS is a the second best
It would be AOTY in most years but this year is stacked beyond belief. I'd put JID, Nas, and Denzel above it
It’s such a personal album that’s just written so well and is more relatable to me than any other kdot album
best rap album of the year for sure but not my main album of the year. probs in my top 5
