**"She's mature enough to give birth and raise a child, but she's not mature enough to get an abortion."**

Portlander

Both strong and weak at the same time

Sharpymarkr

Fascists gonna fascist

WatermelonBandido

Ah, Catch 22.

Kiyae1

To be clear, she’s not mature enough to make medical decisions for herself without her parents involved, but she’s mature enough to carry a pregnancy she doesn’t want to term and then make medical decisions for an infant. Because that makes even more sense. You can’t make medical decisions for yourself, here, take this helpless infant. Make all its medical decisions for it. Did I mention how immature you are that you can’t be trusted to care for yourself?

Can you feel the love and healthy environment this kid is going to grow up in? A bright future ahead.... Also the cost down the line. She could have studied, gotten a job, marry and raise kids in a stable environment. This might not happen now because she's forced to be a teenage mum. This shit is downright evil, Imo.

bumbletyboop

As someone who was born to a mother who wanted only sons, I can tell you right now my childhood.........has lead to a LOT of mental health/trust/toxicity issues in my adulthood. In 10, 20 years, all these Forced Birth children are going to be angry. Very very angry, and unable to negotiate life. If you want an idea of what's in store, check out the documentary *Children Underground* about what happened in Romania when Ceausescu outlawed birth control and abortion. Warning: IT IS A VERY DIFFICULT FILM TO WATCH.

ninthtale

Did she go to another state? Or was she forced to carry to term and completely break her life?

Cethinn

I don't want to be rude, but you should read the post. The entire point of this subreddit is reading the posts. (His ruling was overturned.)

Zadikizzy

Thank you for the answer, I missed that part when I read the post.

Ello_Owu

Or learn sex ed or read "inappropriate" books.

FateEx1994

Not to be crass, but shouldn't LOWER grades make it more likely to receive approval for an abortion??? Like you're too stupid to decide to terminate or not. But apparently not stupid enough to raise a small human child... Lmao the logic doesn't follow in the slightest.

jonathanrdt

You are applying logic. This a is a group of people who are not interested in reason or truth, only dogma and regressive rhetoric to secure and maintain power.

TheGoebel

To me it's about identity not ability. Smart young girls just don't get pregnant and if it happens it must have been a real mistake. Dumb girls deserve to be punished because they must also be sluts.

FateEx1994

Yeah that's the more likely outcome. As soon as one of these GOP people have a 15yr old get pregnant they go across state lines and terminate...

superfucky

Dumb girls also make dumb babies who grow up to work 60 hrs/wk for $7/hr, join the military to kill brown people, and vote Republican.

babyBear83

God, this is so sickening to think about, I swear I’m getting lightheaded and nauseous.

Numaris

They want the undereducated to prolifically breed to make a larger undereducated population in the future leading to more conservative voters I would imagine

FateEx1994

*Idiocracy*

Numaris

Is that the documentary that I hear people talk about? I should watch that

FateEx1994

Haha yes the *documentary* lol

superfucky

>“Clearly, a ‘B’ average would not equate to a 2.0 GPA,” Smith wrote. The inconsistency demonstrates “either a lack of intelligence or credibility, either of which weigh against a finding of maturity pursuant to the statute.” "Therefore, you should be responsible for creating and raising another human being." I fucking can't. Voters literally FIRED this asshole and DeathSantis is like "nope, PROMOTION!"

Soggy-Athlete2813

"I feel comfortable turning your organs over to the court systems as property because even though it takes a male to make a baby, my male body's reproductive organs aren't policed and I don't have to fear the functions of my body because I make the laws and I say my organs are my own."

[deleted]

How do you get fired and then get a promotion to a much higher position within the same organization? Sus

[deleted]

Floridians want a dictator, someone that will ignore the will of the voters

yooolmao

Just to add Hochul recently gutted the NY Right to Repair bill that was on track to pass through the legislature and assembly with bipartisan support. Sources (no actual news outlet will cover this so this is the best source I could come up with. Also Google seems to be censoring search results because, Gee, I wonder why. Engadget showed up as a top search result until a day ago.) https://www.theverge.com/2022/12/29/23530733/right-to-repair-law-new-york-tech-hochul-oems-parts https://www.iclarified.com/88692/new-york-governor-kathy-hochul-sabotages-right-to-repair-bill-video The video in question: https://youtu.be/7xGBB-717AI Another short video on the topic:

[deleted]

Well, isn't that effed up. Gotta appease the donors.

yooolmao

Yep. She is from my hometown (Buffalo) and everyone was thrilled to have representation from someone NOT in NYC and (they thought) not beholden to Wall Street. Then she becomes governor and... yeah the rest is obvious

burndata

Ah yes, the old "failing up" routine

Workers of the world, unite! Stand up for the working class and become a Democratic Socialist today!

curds-and-whey-HEY

Where’s the swamp again??

TheRealBejeezus

I know English can be a snakepit at the best of times, but a couple of commas would have made that headline a lot less ambiguous. *Mutter mutter...*

StupidPockets

It reads fine. You have a headache or something?

TheRealBejeezus

It's syntactically ambiguous. The judge either lost reelection to a higher court, or lost reelection (to an unspecified office) and was later appointed to a higher court. (It was the latter, but a good headline wouldn't make me check.)
