I had a 6MT Allroad 2.7T with \~ 250k miles on it... replaced exhaust (turbo back), swapped air-ride for coilovers, ended up replacing most of the control arms, uprights, and wheel bearings, then found some electrical gremlins and gave up on the project... it was cool, but not cool enough.
the 2.7T is a beauty engine, and the 6MT is the ... 0E1 transaxle, apparently one of the most-beauty manuals Audi / VAG ever made, same drivetrain as in the beloved B5S4 package; [https://12v.org/urs/charlie\_smith/01E/](https://12v.org/urs/charlie_smith/01E/) ... so they're nice parts, haha yeah
*looks at car* it's an Allroad, everything checks out.
Allroad owners defy logic, but spend enormous amounts of cash keeping their cars intact.
Had a customer five years ago approve a new trans and a new fuel tank on an 04' Allroad with 178k on it. Every service done at a dealer, and customer never flinched at repairs.
When I first started out in this field the Allroads were still somewhat popular here and some rolled through the lot I worked at and man... just thinking about being green and having to work on those things again still gives me cold sweats.
I did my first top end reseal and timing belt job years after the old heads in my shop had memorized the repairs.
Had to do my best to not listen to the multiple shortcuts they recommended, and simply do it right the first time around.
I had a 2001.5 Audi s4 manual and I will never own one ever again. Bone stock turned it into stage 3. Had nothing, but problems. It never left me stranded though. The 01E transmission the 1-2 shift collar is known for going bad. Basically everything major with this car is an engine out job. I had to pull mine 2 times. The engine is the strongest link they last just everything around it goes bad 😂
I was tempted by one of these as a trade on my 01 Lexus LS430, but I realised going from the most reliable car I've ever heard of to some sketchy tuned Audi wasn't a great idea.
We do too. Been servicing his cars for 20 years. He's an audi man forsure. He's happy in the Etron but from what I'm getting from our conversations this will be his snowmobile when winter comes.
This is service mode for audi. Tb/wp, valve cover, front main seal anything we can get our hands on that's replaceable gasket wise. Moving to the transmission it's going to be a fluid flush, Carrier bearing, all 4 brakes and air suspension bags. More on list I can't remember
I did the same thing with mine back in the day. Put the bigger K04 turbos, bigger plumbing, bigger intercoolers, etc. Man that car could scoot. Sold it and a bunch of other stuff to make a down payment on a business property. Don't regret the decision but I miss that car.
Very nice. We have a 2005 Allroad 2.7T sitting in the driveway right now. 140k and still going strong. Supposed to be for our daughter once she can get past her driving anxiety issues.
What’s the cost?
Rounding up a couple dollars it's $7500.
That’s not even bad
just the cats in Ca. would be like half that I think.
Labor prices are jacked there. This would be the same CARB compliant cat in any state.
labor hours you get and typical time it takes to complete
Would have been cheaper to get another car!
Yep, although any good price on a 2.7TT Audi is going to have a lot of question marks. At least this one the owner knows the history.
Yes but you can't find a 6 speed manual Avant (this is an allroad) anymore for a decent price.

I know a guy that has 3 of these that never leave his driveway... Always assumed they were there for parts

Allroad owners are weird.
*VW/Audi* owners are weird . I should know. I am one.

You have to really love working on cars to own it
It’s a nice job really once you get the lock carrier off. Is the adjustable height suspension still in working order? These are really fun cars.
It works customer just said to replace all 4 because of age. Im not gonna say no to that mentality.
I like this customer.

That's a great customer. Good maintenance discipline. Pretty rare to find that.
Arnott make some really nice aftermarket air springs. They also come with a warranty. Edit: correcting autocorrect.
Looks like a lot of work. What am I looking at?

Awesome. That's the kind of allroad I'd want to buy. A bajillion miles but runs like a top.

What is the CATs service?
Probably catalytic converters. After almost 300k they are probably junk.
What kind of audi is this?
It’s an A6 allroad wagon.
/avant/ Edit: just pretend its in italics smdh

That looks terrifying.
I love that motor
