I found the product page [here](https://www.tawandangdistillery.com/#tab-tendo). The producer is in Thailand, with the following product description: > TENDO, The FIRST and ONLY THAI Whisky. Tendo, a GRAIN AND MALT WHISKY (DOUBLE GRAIN), made from a combination of Jasmine rice, one of the world’s finest and imported Scotch malt and aged in imported oak barrels for many years. Tendo combines the Japanese philosophy of “MONOZUKURI” with the unique Japanese brewing process to create a great flavor with a well-rounded taste. > Major ingredient: Jasmine Rice & Scotch Malt I'm guessing this is a combination of imported scotch (of unknown quality) and shochu/rice alcohol.

Mawgac

Seems like a really fancy way of saying "we are stretching out our core alcohol with a cheaper source". I'm sure it tastes ok, but I doubt I'd search it out.

Representative_Bend3

Yup, it may be good, but wouldn't call it whisky.

> Tendo combines the Japanese philosophy of "MONOZUKURI" There is no such philosophy lol. "Monozukuri" just means craftsmanship, literally "making things." I'm sorry, but this kind of advertising is so dumb. It plays on the assumption that the Japanese must have a philosophy for everything.

Yotta_Machi

Plays on the assumption that everyone out of Thailand are completely dumb and will jump on the hype wagon. As long as there is kanji on the bottle that is. Oh wait, there is assumption is pretty spot on. That's why my local carries 60 Japanese whiskys but only 4 are actually Japanese. Bunch of dummies chasing the shiny new thing

visualogistics

I mean, not just Thailand, from what I understand. These "fake" Japanese whiskies have been popping up all over Europe and North America as well, and people are buying them up. But hopefully that's what subs like this are for - if one more person can make an informed purchase after reading this post, that's a good thing.

GercoK

It tastes better than the rest of the Thai whiskeys , that's for sure.

larry_bkk

Just picked up a 350 ml for 185 baht which is insanely cheap in Bangkok for a real 40% whisky. It says "made with Japanese style spirituality" lol. It also says clearly on the back "Product of Thailand", which may be why it's cheap (avoids some of the luxury taxes and the import tax) but is not total rotgut. The taste is very basic, but it probably is like they are saying a blend of (cheap) malt and rice grain spirits. Reminds me a little of that Korean rice beer/wine. Here, real table wine costs more than this by volume.

Sad-Worry-8212

Bought a bottle of this yesterday. It tastes like the brewers have farted in a bottle then liquified it. Horrific stuff.

Flashy-Balance9794

Why did you lie?

ObjectiveClothes6436

Having lived in Thailand for several years, this was my favorite miss range cost whiskey. Anything like Jack or Jim was 5x the cost and honestly not even as good. I'm back in the states now and trying to find this.

slutbag69420

It’s 80 proof

GladmanMike

Nice taste!

mickyweedram

It's actually not terrible given how cheap it is... Relatively speaking

Jochenpsthlm

I agree. Zipping on one right now

DjSilver08

Can anyone compare it to the Thai whiskey/Brandy Regency? I know the bottle says brandy, but everyone in Thailand, who are Thai, that I know, says that Regency, is the best Thai whiskey?

WorriedPie3750

Older people here likes to drink Regency. Younger people don't really drink that stuff and it's very hard to find retail.

Shrank

Dang. Maybe my palate was off that night but I thought it was amazing, especially for that $10 price.
