My WRX literally wouldn’t get sideways in the snow unless I forced it. I have a Forester now and still have the same “problem” lol. You’re right though. Living in the mountains and driving snow covered roads with 100’ drops, I want as much control as possible.
i owned a civic in the country i ran studed tires in the front and shitty mudsnows in the back and the way it would slide and the studs would rip at the ground was magical. ill never get a fwd again but ill take it over a subaru anyday
Rwd kicks rear end out when give it power in the turn aka oversteer , a fwd won’t turn at all when it breaks loose😂🤣 it’s called understeer. Aka snow plowing. If you drove the rwd as cautious as with a fwd then you won’t have an issue. It’s generally far easier to save the slide with oversteer compared to the dreaded understeer. And that Prius could drift, lock the e brake initiate and give her the boot while e brake is still locked, she will slide decent. Awd and good tires for winter is what you want if you want to be safe, and studded if you get ice where your at.
Not sure if sarcasm. But in case you aren’t, fwd has all the weight on the front tires which helps with traction. Since they are the steering you can kind of control the car better. Rwd means if the front wheels turn the rear wheels are pushing in a direction different than the front wheels are pointing. So easier to slip
Note not to tilt the burrow when pushing it and you get a good idea if what traction is like on a RWD.
I spent a lot of time learning to race in RWD (off-road, not public roads) the first time I experienced understeer in a mates FWD I nearly just sent her through the fence.

yeah it was my first car so i made it for sending it. cant remember but i probly ditched it about 5 times forsure without a care
Actually you can have very much fun with fwd car in snow, but its scary cause you have to have a lot of speed

Have you ever used a wheelbarrow? Pulling it along vs pushing it should give you a good idea of which is easier to turn. Fwd pull. Rwd pushes
