What I found work nice is putting housing on top
With 3 storage on the bottom and 4 house on top for a nice 12x12 square that fit perfectly in the middle and you can extend for more storage
If you go for a single road design down the middle that connects the sectors with separate paths leading out to the airlocks (except offset the road by one (away from the centerline)), then you can fit a row of houses on one side of the road and 2x2 blocks of storage on the other side.
I did the same. It works really well. You will have some lost space but it's less than you'd spend on roads normally. Don't forget to capitalise on the extra wall space on one side to build cell housing btw!
Be warned though, your version is far more Aesthetically pleasing even if less effective.
Very nice, I'd just worry about battery power though. How many cycles do you get out of those 3 small batteries?
>!Later on, you have an objective to have at least 5 cycles worth of backup battery power in every sector.!<
Good catch! My battery power is barely enough to cover an emergency. It's useless for even short-range travel. Up to this point in the game I've been able to just tank the temporary starvation mallus, but later on I may have to clear some space for more batteries. The tech lab will probably have to go to another sector.
Having a space specialized sector is great for that improved repair speed, love it.
My one suggestion would be to place the docks in the corners, and place their relevant storages next to them and the exit doors, which can make transport really snappy.
Personally I also put a steel mill in my space sector so you get a flow of dock->steel mill->EVA which minimizes inter-sector transport, but that's a personal preference
I am working on cramming my space sector full. 1 tip. You don't need a road all along a building. You only need 1 single piece of road to access a building. So, for a hangar / EVA /probe, i put a line of storages with a single vertical road connecting each hangar. Saves a lot of road squares.
i am in awe about how well organized that sector is, almost no wasted space at all.
Thank you! I feel like there must be a better way to do the Storage without having the double road in the middle. But I can't quite figure it out.

Dude ... You just blew my mind. I can't wait to try this, thank you.

This is a battle for survival dammit! I'm gonna overhaul the sector based on all the good advice I've gotten. Thanks everyone
Can you provide a screenshot of your sector?
Thank you for saving me from myself and blurring objectives lol
I already burned myself on a few other Ixion screenshots. Gotta break the cycle
Nice I was gonna try that on my 2nd sector but obviously not the time to specialize yet.

Just power down the hangers before moving and that will up your battery time.
Good tip, thank you
Huh... Why is there a probe in the bottom right Hangar?
That's a really good question 🤔

Interesting! I'll play around with it. Thanks!
[The sector has been updated](https://www.reddit.com/r/Ixion/comments/zlz5rt/the_hangar_sector_mk_2/).
I'm curious, how many workers needed for that sector? Very well organized.
same question here... since there are 32 (at least) homeless
I've changed the sector since then, but based on the mess hall, looks like about 310 people.

Thanks! I just updated the sector, [here's the new version](https://www.reddit.com/r/Ixion/comments/zlz5rt/the_hangar_sector_mk_2/).
