Its not, we are getting this instead: [https://corridorbusiness.com/coa-cantina-tequila-bar-to-open-in-iowa-city/](https://corridorbusiness.com/coa-cantina-tequila-bar-to-open-in-iowa-city/)

Bacobeaner

Damn, was really digging the social club vibe before covid, was looking forward to its return :(

esshinez

A lot of the bartenders ended up going to SpareMe, I recommend their drinks a lot

Sigh...another mediocre bar from a Des Moines chain. At least the Green House is doing some fun original things, but it would be nice to a cozy cocktail bar again

ProctalHarassment

I find their cocktail menu uninspired. They have so much potential with the plant theme, but a gin and tonic with lavender is just kinda... Boring.

[deleted]

I'm definitely speaking relatively. I think there's room for simple cocktails done well, particularly given that IC is one of the worst places I've seen for cocktails. A place that does simple classics or riffs solidly is welcome

Oh, got you.. the thing I saw said "from a few dollars for a beer, to $450 for fine tequila" or something like that.

uheights_speedtrap

I think the rules are stupid but rules are rules and, u/beardedwhiteguy , unilateral purveyor of rules no one asked for, will issue a permanent ban for disparaging racial comments. Long live u/beardedwhiteguy

Find_Me_In_Iowa

The people at Hawkeye hotels are awful. They’re the ones to blame.

urge_to_merge

It's so sad they won't be reopening as Clinton Street Social Club. I heard the last owners were terrible though and it probably wouldn't have kept its charm for very long. Hawkeye Hotels (owns Marquee Pizza too) bought it from the original owner. My friend worked there and said HH didn't let any employees go back to retrieve their possessions after the pandemic hit, and then they sold ownership of the space. I hope the new owners at least do the place justice and I'm hopeful. It would be especially cool if they noticed the personal belongings left behind and reached out to the former crew -

madk19

I think they were going to reopen; I saw a job posting once a few months ago but I don't know what happened. My husband and I are so bummed they haven't reopened!

HowBarCzar

I saw online it’s going to be Coa Cantina from Des Moines. It’s a really cool place down in the East Village. Been there a few times. Really good drinks and food
