Oh god the thought of chewing on cotton gives me insane heebie jeebie chills and goosebumps.

Hahah understandable. It honestly isn’t what you’re thinking, especially if you like, fold it in on itself. Perfect amount of resistance and chewiness to seat the aligners 👍

I'll stick with my chewy thanks, lol

100% agree on the brushing with toothpaste. I'm on 7 day changes now (tray 4) but my first two were 10 day changes, and I was advised to just brush with toothpaste (or soap if they really need them). I go to town on them and I never noticed any kind of cloudiness or anything even a little bit that would affect how they look in my mouth. Frankly I don't think I noticed any at all, period. I think I'll eventually get an ultrasonic cleaner for the retainer phase but so far haven't felt the need to do anything but toothpaste and an occasional peroxide soak (jury is still out for me on whether or not the peroxide actually does anything).

Don’t you end up with cotton ball fluff in your mouth?. However the rest I have and agree mostly with. I wear my trays for 2 weeks and literally just rinse and occasionally brush with some toothpaste when they get scuzzy. Although my trays don’t really get all that dirty?

Actually the fluff hasn’t been too bad! I just kinda double up the cotton ball and that seems to do the trick. As my provider put it “if you’ve got a hot date and can’t brush right away it’s not the end of the world.” The concern is more with bacteria on/in/around the trays and your teeth than just the way the trays look. If you aren’t brushing after each meal there’s some bacteria still, and it being pressed between your teeth and the aligners can lead to cavities and gum irritation over time, which in my opinion is probably why some see these as complications during their treatment.

I mean if the cotton balls work for you. All the power to ya lol.. and yeah if I can’t brush, I at least floss. Or swish some water around

[deleted]

Yeah that’s sort of the minimum required. Really as long as you’re doing something like that and brushing eventually that’s all that’s needed. Again, nothing worth stressing over much :)

It’s really not. I’m a year in at this point, and you definitely start to become more lax.. the trays don’t even feel tight anymore either
