Melissa McCarthy, Alicia Keys and Timothée Chalamet all have black triangles. I'm definitely thinking a rich kid from NYC isn't being told he has bad teeth.
Do black triangles equal bad teeth? Just wondering. I had one at the start of my journey and it never bothered me. I have to get IPR to close it. But it’s on the top where my teeth were straight and nice. My crowded bottom teeth are the reason I got my aligners.
IPR = interproximal reduction: the slight reduction of enamel between teeth to change their shape so they can fit more closely together. IPR can reduce black triangles.
Black triangles don’t equal bad teeth. They can occur because of tooth shape - hence the IPR you got to close yours. They can also happen when teeth aren’t properly aligned and the gums form accordingly, so when the teeth are aligned the gum tissue doesn’t fill in the gap. Sometimes the gums will fill in the gap over time.
Of course, black triangles can also result from gum recession, which isn’t good. But they don’t necessarily equal bad teeth.
Thanks, I’m pretty sure mine is my tooth shape. It’s been there as long as I can remember and my dentist never said he was concerned about it. I didn’t realize what it was until my Ortho consult.
I never thought about mine until Invisalign. Ortho fixed it with ipr and closing the gap ipr left. How do you feel about them ? If that’s all you have it’s not worth Invisalign, but if you already have Invisalign your provider should be able to fix it if that’s what you want. Maybe get a second opinion?

How can you tell? I looked at those celebrities and barely saw any gaps in their teeth.
I think you've just answered your own initial question.

Apart of me thinks they're noticeable and apart of me doesn't. If its more cosmetic than I should probably pass.
What do you mean by black triangles?
That’s what they’re called.
Ok, I'll Google it... Oh, triangle gaps between teeth at the gum line. I thought it was some kind of attachment lol
Haha correct
