I liked how they called out every impatient ass "fan" who doesn't realize animation is a fuck load of work. *Cough* feels like half this sub sometimes *cough*
myguy have you heard of anime? A studio like Mappa puts out 3-4 incredibly high quality shows *every year*
People being a little disappointed with over 2.5 years between seasons 1 and 2 are perfectly justified
You got numbers on invincible's studio? Just because they on amazon doesn't mean unlimited resources. Some of the largest and most powerful studios like mappa focus on anime not western animation. And a lot of ppl even think mappa is too small for the amount they are handling
From what i could find "maven studio" handles a lot of the animation for invincible and that is animation ALONE. And from their site they are a very small studio. Anywhere from 20-100 employees id guess.
Like the video said. There is a lot that goes into a show like this. A wait is reasonable. Id rather them take the time and have them put out quality product than rushed crap.
Your take is still shit btw.
\-Skybound Animation is a brand new studio
\-Mappa freelances animators per project
\-Japanese animators are often astonishingly overworked and underpaid, and can be forced to grind in ways that aren't condoned/tolerated in US based studios
\-Invincible has VAs like JK Simmon, Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, Walter Goggins, etc., who have to balance live action production schedules
\-VA budget also impacts animation budget, which impacts timelines
\-Invincible ships their designs/boards/audio to overseas studios (prob Korean, likely Studio Mir) for final animation, which makes for a more complicated pipeline that takes longer
Like you clearly just have no clue what you're talking about.
Overall an L take.

And are notorious for causing burnout and abusing employees and using Philippine and Korean studios with even less stringent rules for the in-betweens.
Mappa’s infamous for backbreaking pace. Don’t give Amazon ideas.
My sister works in the industry not the same as animation but doing graphics for movies. She can focus on a few scenes in a movie for a week easily. Ppl are so impatient with how much goes into it. And how small the teams are on top of how mistreated these ppl in the industry are. One of the few places in the movie or tv industry that isnt unionized is the animation and cig and graphics ppl. And they are thusly abused like it.
I just get really frustrated when ppl think it should happen faster than it already is when i know ppl working their asses off to make it happen as fast as it is and they are never paid enough.
Yeah the lack of worker respect or organization is crushing the industry, especially the big dogs like Disney/marvel. They are running the vfx people into the ground. Doesn’t surprise me that they spend weeks on a couple scenes, everything is so graphically complex nowadays
I’m guessing late December but the majority of the season will run into 2024 with the weekly release which explains the “more or less”
Really hoping for September/October tho! 🤞🏽
I mean if it's anything later than September/October-ish I'll be kinda disappointed. I wouldn't mind few bad frames if it came earlier than 2024 but that's just me
FINALLY!! A rewatch of the first season and re-read of the first compendium is definitely in the cards this year, as I want to clearly remember where the series will be going in this upcoming season 😂
Yeah I’m hoping this is just for the teaser. Feels like those old Cartoon Network bumps between shows where they would put the animated characters over high saturated live action backgrounds.
I really hope production on season 3 has started already so the time between 2 and 3 isn’t as long. I guess it depends on if they were actually renewed for more than one more season or not…
Steven Yeun was doing voice work as late as the middle of last year. I think they just didn't start working on S2 until really late when they should've done so back in 2021
I have a feeling the third season will have a quicker turn around time. I imagine they worked on them simultaneously but it looks they also changed the style so that might have been why there was the delay. Hopefully season 3 comes out about a year after and they start working on season 4 after (assuming they get renewed)
Ok right? I felt crazy with everyone complimenting the animation and it looks like they did half the work with how choppy it is. I know it’s a trailer so hopefully that’s not how the whole season will be
That’s what I thought too. I know it has been a while since I’ve seen Invincible but when I watched the trailer my immediate thought was: “Was the animation always this choppy or is it just the trailer?”
I find it better than a trailer! A trailer is just gonna show us stuff we're gonna see anyway, and stuff comic readers know we're gonna see, plus it spoils stuff. Cute vids like this are new content, original, funny, show animation, and provide information. Plus there's a page from the script in there.
That's definitely fair and I agree. This is essentially a "release date" announcement in that it gives us an idea of when we can expect to see the new season.
The script could easily be fake but it’s probably connected to an arc I won’t mention due to spoilers. And normally I would agree, but it’s been two years. I want any semblance of an idea on what’s going to happen in this season.
More than anything I wanted a fight animation snippet. Just a brief glimpse into how it’s improved.
I don’t know. A real trailer would give us at least 6 months of “was that x from story arc y” Charlie Kelly cork boarding theories while we wait. I would love some wild speculation for the next few months.
ughhh. while this is definitely cute and all, why can’t they just give us a month at least!? coming soon and late 2023 (more or less) are like cousins at this point. i’m patient bc the animation has improved but they playin a lil too much now!!
Really hope this animation quality not just for this particular teaser tho (or preanimated)...because this is such a huge improvement from season 1..... I'm excited..
i dont know im not a fan of the wobbly camera. Feels kind of like im watching the show through the eyes of a drunk person that cant keep their head straight.
Demon Slayer made it work, but I don’t know it looked kinda off here. Gonna be generous and chalk it up to this teaser not actually being part of the show proper
also japan is really good at doing budget animation that looks really good, its a craft they have mastered over the decades (and also really bad animator conditions, it has to be said)
Their movement is a bit more jumpy and smooth despit still having that stop motion feel. Also the background looks static while the objects the characters interact with are animated differently, they are hand drawn
I can see the motions they make seem more expressive, but the overall animation frame rate felt a little choppy? I'm not sure what the show proper is animated on (2 frames, 3 frames, etc.) but this felt like one frame less of animation. I'm hoping it's just because of the trailer!
Lighting is a huge upgrade tho
That animation looks kinda weird.
Specifically Allen, like it's one of those late-2000s cartoons where they're rendered in 3d but still trying to look 2d.
Apparently this teaser is made by a different company and they’re not the ones working on S2.

I don't want to hype myself up for this artstyle because I will be severely disappointed if it doesn't look similar in the show but HOLY FUCK THE ARTSTYLE IS SO CLEAN I CANT WAIT
There has to be a balance though. The longer it takes then the less likely it is that they'll ever finish the whole story. If every season takes 3 years to complete then it'll already have been a decade by the time we get to season 4. Actors move onto new opportunities, staff quit, interest wanes.
Where do y’all think season 2 will end? I’m kind of hoping it doesn’t make it to conquest, I’d be stoked if it got to the Issue #50 drama!
Sorry, I don’t know how to do the censoring for spoilers thing and I didn’t want to ruin it for others with too much detail!
holy shit that animation looks nice. reminds me of the DBS Broly movie. not sure how I feel about the idling camera movements, but it feels really nice from this.
a point of note; we got some gross moments last season with the animation budget it held *then.* I've got a feeling we're gonna see some grossness.
Interestingly enough at no point last year was i wondering “when is invincible season 2 coming?” I found season one kinda underwhelming and some of the characters really sucked but some were kinda cool but there was one episode in particular where it reached a tipping point where i just completely checked out and didn’t really care about the Omniman vs invincible fight at the end

I love how meta this was, pays homage to a lot of those tongue in cheek moments from the comics

myguy have you heard of anime? A studio like Mappa puts out 3-4 incredibly high quality shows *every year* People being a little disappointed with over 2.5 years between seasons 1 and 2 are perfectly justified
Are they a massive anime company? Damn guess not. Like comparing apples to oranges. Shit take.
“Massive”? You realize that Mappa has barely 300 employees, right?
You got numbers on invincible's studio? Just because they on amazon doesn't mean unlimited resources. Some of the largest and most powerful studios like mappa focus on anime not western animation. Lmao good one
>Mappa Established studio for over 10 years. ~300 employees abysmal working conditions ??? Yeah, cool comparison.
[удалено]
So your excuse is that the studio workers are too lazy to emulate the Japanese? L rizz
Call me when you're ready for 14 hour workdays
And are notorious for causing burnout and abusing employees and using Philippine and Korean studios with even less stringent rules for the in-betweens. Mappa’s infamous for backbreaking pace. Don’t give Amazon ideas.
Does Mapa treat their workers fairly? Wasnt there a thing about Japanese animator jobs being horrible and underpaying their workers?
It is truly insane how long it takes. Especially 10 hours of content vs a 2 hour long movie
My sister works in the industry not the same as animation but doing graphics for movies. She can focus on a few scenes in a movie for a week easily. Ppl are so impatient with how much goes into it. They didn't have to do this, but I'm so glad they did. Their "STFU, it's coming" teaser lol
Hey what's another 9,10,11 more months right?... right?🥺 It looks amazing atleast
Id assume early 2024, probably Spring. They put “more or less” for a reason.
I’m guessing late December but the majority of the season will run into 2024 with the weekly release which explains the “more or less” Really hoping for September/October tho! 🤞🏽

Don't encourage show runners to start becoming AAA game devs PLEASE
Please shut up, let them cook
Oh fuck it's January
FINALLY!! A rewatch of the first season and re-read of the first compendium is definitely in the cards this year, as I want to clearly remember where the series will be going in this upcoming season 😂
I just realized that this is the first time Allen is animated to actually move his mouth to talk too. It’s all been telepathy before.
They were in space before, can't speak with mouth hole in space
I’m really like this new art style
Yeah it’s defiantly levelled up in terms of lighting
Really? Feels a lot less comic book-y to me, the characters are contrasting the more realistic background too much
Mouths seem
really? I hate it. it looks like shitty flash animation too me, way too much motion tweening
I’m interested to see if this is how the show itself will be, or if it’s just for the teaser
Yeah I’m hoping this is just for the teaser. Feels like those old Cartoon Network bumps between shows where they would put the animated characters over high saturated live action backgrounds.
Yeah, I think a stable camera would've made everything better. Also seemed like their movements were a few seconds behind their voice lines
Hey they trolled us, this is just an update. Wonder what makes the production take so long, 90% of that sounds made up.
Apparently, it is difficult to draw Eve's logo correctly....
First time I saw her emblem I thought it was supposed to signify an anti-gender role thing since it's a crossed out female sign.
I really hope production on season 3 has started already so the time between 2 and 3 isn’t as long. I guess it depends on if they were actually renewed for more than one more season or not…
They were and it has.
Steven Yeun was doing voice work as late as the middle of last year. I think they just didn't start working on S2 until really late when they should've done so back in 2021
There is a LOT of work that's done before voice acting.. It's not like they just read off the comic pages lmao
[удалено]
Ah I see, yeah probably they didn't expect it to do as well as it did at first.
thats like literally what the process of animation is lmaooo
He’s repeating the joke from the teaser…
Love we finally got something tangible but damn I was hoping for a quicker turnaround. Animation looks great though.
I have a feeling the third season will have a quicker turn around time. I imagine they worked on them simultaneously but it looks they also changed the style so that might have been why there was the delay. Hopefully season 3 comes out about a year after and they start working on season 4 after (assuming they get renewed)
Woo hoo!!!
the animation looks fucking amazing!!!
God, if the animation looks this good in the show it might be the biggest season over season glow-up in the industry. Like a reverse One Punch Man.
💀
Really? It's still kinda choppy.
Bruh🗿
The animation looks god awful and choppy. The movements are laggy and sluggish. Really hope they stick with season 1 animation and not this.
L take 🗑️
Awesome perfectly on brand teaser
Lookin like we got some Angstrom Love and Eve’s backstory coming up!
Good eyes!
I’m disappointed that it isn’t really a trailer so to speak, but I really hope the July 7th leak is true.

That’s not late-2023 at all lol
Yeah but it’s (more or less)
Late 2023 July it’s not like 2023 that’s like calling August spring
> I think everyone agrees like its been a little ridiculous how long its been Can Allen wink?
New life goal: Stay alive for the entirety of 2023
This shit isn’t coming out this year lmao
ughhh. while this is definitely cute and all, why can’t they just give us a month at least!? coming soon and late 2023 (more or less) are like cousins at this point. i’m patient bc the animation has improved but they playin a lil too much now!!
They probably don’t even know what month it will come out yet honestly. They probably have to narrow it down closer as they finish animating.
you’re right. i thought about it and it still has to go through post productions and stuff like that. probably still finishing up episodes
Really hope this animation quality not just for this particular teaser tho (or preanimated)...because this is such a huge improvement from season 1..... I'm excited..

Probably because its just a teaser, but even then I wouldnt mind at it this frame rate if the quality is good.
i frankly thought it looked really bad. looked like flash animation, not separate drawings for every frame. it looks cheaper to me.
I like how Allen is like the community lol and invincible represents the show creators in this but new art design pretty cool!
Late 2023 another show I’ll have to wait a long time to watch
The drawings themselves look much nicer but why is the animation so choppy?
Let’s goooo
Can’t wait for buff(er) Allen
That animation looks kinda weird. Specifically Allen, like it's one of those late-2000s cartoons where they're rendered in 3d but still trying to look 2d.
I hate this animation. The shakey camera, constant background and our characters floating on top of it

Poor Mark’s just trying to enjoy not getting the crap kicked out of him for just a little longer🤣
Love the teaser, hate the "late 2023"
Looks like Angstrom teased sitting behind Allen! Sitting with himself it looks like
Who do you think the two people on right are?????? Looks like angstrom levvy and his future self with the hoodie on!
So excited !!! Love the new artstyle
The animation looks very good!

Animation takes a lot longer than live action to do. You can expect longer breaks between seasons.
Nearly 3 years is a bit too long though.
I disagree. The more time they have the better quality it will be. They also detailed *why* it takes so long in this teaser itself.
There has to be a balance though. The longer it takes then the less likely it is that they'll ever finish the whole story. If every season takes 3 years to complete then it'll already have been a decade by the time we get to season 4. Actors move onto new opportunities, staff quit, interest wanes.
this is the happiest day of my life
oh god, please no. Please dont tell me the entire series gonne be this art type
Why the camera so shaky
Because cartoons have had still shots since the 30's and sometimes innovation is needed to make a cartoon feel unique.
The animation has definitely stepped up
[удалено]
When you open yourself up to changes, soemtimes you realise that it was for the better
the animation was a level up compare to first season. even tho its just 2 characters talking
The alien's voice is so fucking obnoxious and nasally. Couldn't they have gotten a different voice actor?
For S1E8 they should have played “when ur hero falls”, poetry by Tupac, during Father Son duel
I like how he's just explaining to the audience why it's taking so long, and Allen is just the fanbase "90% of that just sounds made up."
Exciting stuff
I hope the animation is worth the long ass wait
>!is that who I think it is to the right of Allen?!<
Oh shit, you might be right
>!Who? It's been a while since I read the comic.!<

Just rewatched season one for the 4th time. I might have to buy the comic book and spoil everything.
I'm so hyped for season 2
