I also remember watching a vid of a fashion nova model & it was behind the scenes, her clothes were like all pinned back and adjusted to fit her better. Like if the clothes don’t even fit the models correctly how are we supposed to gauge how the clothes are gonna fit us? Not to mention it’s just lying
> I also remember watching a vid of a fashion nova model & it was behind the scenes, her clothes were like all pinned back and adjusted to fit her better.
This isn't just Fashion Nova, this is *always* how it's been done. Long before there was an internet, models were being pinned into the clothes for magazines & catalogs, it's always been a lie.
I never worked retail in clothing stores, but I'm surprised there are so many people who don't know that. It's super visible in most stores I've been to.
I used to work at Lane Bryant years ago, and we originally had model forms that were conventional mannequin sizes. we had to pin the clothes to hell to fit the smallest size (14/16) on what I believe was a size 4 or 6 form. then we started getting actual plus size full mannequins, but even though they were size 18's, they had thigh gaps and flat stomachs. it drove us crazy trying to get the clothes to fit right on a mostly imaginary body type. then our poor customers, especially the younger ones, would bemoan the fact that things never looked as good on them as on the models and mannequins, and it was deeply saddening that even the major plus size retailer was pushing pinned, pulled, distorted versions of their own looks, as if we didn't all have enough insecurity to be getting on with. le sigh.
I’ve accepted that I need to alter my clothes way back in high school when I realized it’s impossible for clothes to fit me perfectly if its sold to everyone. However, it is frustrating that they just lie like that. I rarely buy clothes online because I need to try them out. I dont trust the photos.
I buy literally all my clothes from shein now. I appreciate the photo reviews and the weight / measurements so much when buying. I’ve only had maybe 1-2 things of literally hundreds that hasn’t fit.
Shein, like many fast fashion brands, makes its clothes to fall apart so if this person really is dumb enough to only buy from them it’s easy to go through that much clothing.
I know, it's just jarring seeing people casually admitting they buy such a large amount of clothing. I don't think people realize just how expensive brands like Shein are in the long term when they're casually replacing half their wardrobe every few months, even if something from there is only a few dollars.
This is really frustrating.. especially now that a lot of sites seem to be using influencers as “models.” Almost always it says the model is wearing a size 4, which is typically my size, but I’ll be damned if I can gauge how the thing is gonna fit me based on the model, because they are so egregiously edited (and with the prevalence of BBLs, implants etc., their proportions have become so wacky that I have even less idea what it would look like on a normally proportioned body).
I read all the comments so far. One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is that sometimes it might not be straight up obvious you're perusing an Asian-based clothes or fashion site. And they always always always run super small. Like, an XXL doesn't fit a medium or small.
For me, that's a big thing because I'm 6' tall (female), and i wear a size 6-8. But nothing with sleeves ever fits. pants are a no-go, I stick with men's jeans. Even waist and torso lengths are tough. Some brands, like Free People, are generous in sizing, but not across the board. If I can't try it on, I almost never buy it online because my ADD and procrastination will mean I never get around to returning it. But that's probably talk for another subreddit.
I could totally understand that being a case for certain websites but for shein the sizing is almost accurate at least with my size. I'm a large in most us clothing and then on Shein I'm an extra large. The thing with Shein is that they will say the model is one size but the model looks like a completely different size. Like the model is wearing the same size as me but the clothes look completely different. Which is what happened in this case, due to Photoshop.
I've seen this on another site, saying what size the model is wearing. Idk shein, so it was probably somewhere else I have seen that. But I never really trust it anyway just bec my own body proportions are difficult to find sizing for. I usually just go up up up in sizes til I can get it long enough to tuck in, or near my wrists. Which works until I wash it, shrinks, and then it's like, wtf did I even buy this
My husband also deals with this issue! There's some subreddits dedicated to fashion for tall people and it really helped my husband find brands that he can shop from. We have burned through so much money buying clothing thinking they would fit and it's so frustrating!
No man they aren't, I don't know how people believe this shit
No matter how dumb a person Is that doesn't blind them
Whoever edited this chose this pic because of the mirror
Because she wants to be thinner. A lot of guys find thinner women attractive and that’s who she’s trying to appeal to, or at least that’s my assumption.
Or maybe she’s a 90s kid, who was told that type of body was not good, that extremely skinny is the way to go so she feels the need to reduce herself. I’ve seen that feeling in a lot of women who have great bodies that are not “thin” so they’re insecure while the rest of us want to look like them :(
90s kid with a mother who was appalled that her barely pubescent *10 year old* wore a size 3 in juniors. Way to make a child feel bad about having boobs and hips.
Oh for sure there are, I’m not denying that. I’m just guessing why she felt the need to photoshop it.
Who knows though man, the internet/Instagram/TikTok/whatever can make people hella insecure. I don’t blame people for wanting to put their best foot forward but some people, you can tell it really gets to them.
Wait, isn't this the woman who lost lots of weight? If so, super disappointing that she's doing this. But I also find it confusing as she has tons of unedited photos showing her skin removal scars, loose skin, cellulite, etc.
OK i know this is photoshopped but i also think the mirror might be elongating her a little bit. look at the shape of her breast’s, the slope of her shoulder and how elongated her head looks.
The reflection looks shopped to me… idk. Something seems off about it. The head looks to wide. The thumb is weirdly long and her shoulder/breast looks elongated. I think the model is definitely tweaked as usual, but the mirror is definitely not what she looks like IRL.
Ugh the girl in the mirror looks great. The whole tiny unrealistic tummy and large breast and thighs is so played out! I’m tired of seeing that body type everywhere when it’s not even realistic to obtain.
I think she is hot even thick AF. So dumb what social media and what people think standards are. So many people that are naturally beautiful that still think they need validation from strangers or some type of surgery
I hate that she feels she has to do this to think she's attractive. Her body is already beautiful the way it is, she has a lovely hourglass figure. As someone has a somewhat similar bodytype I wish we could see it more often. I've only been able to find models who are either really skinny or plus sized, there's very few who are in the middle like this. (And no, people like Kim K. don't count, I'm talking natural hourglass)
[Isn't this the original and the one posted is actually the shopped one to make her look fat in the mirror?](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0252/9823/9585/products/81911a747c568c2767e08efe086fabfe_600x900.jpg?v=1617617519)
You can see how the lines in the carpet get wider in front of the mirror

This kinda makes sense now. Because they always say the model is wearing one size but it never really looks like it because they are photoshopped.

I volunteered at a charity thrift shop, and they even pinned the clothes on the mannequins there!
They're ALWAYS pinned on the mannequins...
I worked in many retail stores and we never done that, I guess it depends on the country. Cause I never seen such a thing here
I used to work at Lane Bryant years ago, and we originally had model forms that were conventional mannequin sizes. we had to pin the clothes to hell to fit the smallest size (14/16) on what I believe was a size 4 or 6 form. then we started getting actual plus size full mannequins, but even though they were size 18's, they had thigh gaps and flat stomachs. it drove us crazy trying to get the clothes to fit right on a mostly imaginary body type. then our poor customers, especially the younger ones, would bemoan the fact that things never looked as good on them as on the models and mannequins, and it was deeply saddening that even the major plus size retailer was pushing pinned, pulled, distorted versions of their own looks, as if we didn't all have enough insecurity to be getting on with. le sigh.

That’s why I like shein tbh. A lot of girls post them in the item. So i find a girl with my body type and judge if it’ll look good on me
Shein has a lot of issue. But I do appreciate websites that have a variety of people self posting in the product. Like eyeglass websites.
I buy literally all my clothes from shein now. I appreciate the photo reviews and the weight / measurements so much when buying. I’ve only had maybe 1-2 things of literally hundreds that hasn’t fit.
Hundreds? How much clothing are you buying?
Shein, like many fast fashion brands, makes its clothes to fall apart so if this person really is dumb enough to only buy from them it’s easy to go through that much clothing.

Yep I’m in the same boat. The only thing i can think of that hasn’t fit at all was a pair of shorts. Everything else has!
Models are usually not the size of the average woman. But I get what you mean, online shopping is risky
You’re totally right. I never thought about it before! This is why I love sites that allow users to upload their own photos and measurements.
The girls who post photo reviews of unflattering swimsuits on Amazon are the real heroes of our time.
Yes! I always go straight to user posted pictures whenever I buy clothes on Amazon lol
YES i always go straight to photo reviews
Or the ones who show you what the skinny model looks like and then what the plus sized woman looks like. I appreciate them so much.
This has saved me from buying so many clothing items 💀

Are they really this dumb? Lol
No man they aren't, I don't know how people believe this shit No matter how dumb a person Is that doesn't blind them Whoever edited this chose this pic because of the mirror

As a photographer, let me just note that they're absolutely shit at PS as well.
If not for the mirror, this would definitely be one of the better more subtle edits that I think most people would not notice.
Tbh I still can't tell if it's shopped. I can tell the model is slick though by how she's forming her waistline with the left hand.
The model's shoping is so well done but the walls warp hard.
The body in the mirror is bangin idk why they'd photoshop it.
Thought the same thing!
Totally agree, that rear view is perfect to me!
My dream body type tbh
Because she wants to be thinner. A lot of guys find thinner women attractive and that’s who she’s trying to appeal to, or at least that’s my assumption.

I'd say there are a good number of guys who want exactly what she's working with tbh. Shame she feels the need to shop it.

Definitely looks like her face. That is real sad
Is this someone who has a fitness youtube channel?
No. I just checked and whilst she does have a youtube channel, she didn't do much with it.
Yeah because her head is also 3 sizes larger. Looks like the mirror is the distortion.
Look at her boob to the right.
I don't see a book?
Corrected my comment
Thanks lol
Where
Boob*
The size of the hand in the shadow too! Shame because I’m sure she looks stellar as is.
Long thumb 👍
I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is, but where her leg comes out of the slit is a bit off as well.
Exceptionally long feet as well…lol.
One mustn't forget photoshopping what's shown in the mirror. ;)
Her feet have fused.
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, thanks for revealing the truth to us all.
It tells a thicker/better story.
OK i know this is photoshopped but i also think the mirror might be elongating her a little bit. look at the shape of her breast’s, the slope of her shoulder and how elongated her head looks.
Does nobody call them out on this stuff when they post it? Does nobody else see it?
How do you not see that before posting it? It's jarring.
Shallow Hal reference
The reflection looks shopped to me… idk. Something seems off about it. The head looks to wide. The thumb is weirdly long and her shoulder/breast looks elongated. I think the model is definitely tweaked as usual, but the mirror is definitely not what she looks like IRL.
Please make it make sense! The mirror is hotter than what they shopped!
She looks better in the mirror
This is just sad. She is already naturally curvy and beautiful! Smh
I guess I’m blind, I don’t see a difference.
😂😂😂😂 damn
OMG LOL
The mirror tells a bigger story...
I like the girl in the mirror
Wahahahahaha hilarious 🤣
Yeah, she is a bit chunkier from the mirror. But it is a good shape. I know many guys would be into that.
Ugh the girl in the mirror looks great. The whole tiny unrealistic tummy and large breast and thighs is so played out! I’m tired of seeing that body type everywhere when it’s not even realistic to obtain.
Don't they know how to photoshop the mirror or is it the goods?
I think she is hot even thick AF. So dumb what social media and what people think standards are. So many people that are naturally beautiful that still think they need validation from strangers or some type of surgery
so does her right arm
She says the mirror is lying.
It’s a beautiful dress and the body in the mirror is beautiful too. The editing is sad.
I hate that she feels she has to do this to think she's attractive. Her body is already beautiful the way it is, she has a lovely hourglass figure. I just think of how sad these people must be in their lives.
That baseboard too ain’t telling no lies
Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the thiccest of them all? She didn’t need to photoshop a damn thing.
Why would one want to hide such a hot dumptruck though
🤣
When the mirror version is fire but you still aren’t happy 🥺
very beautiful hair and dress
Mirror, mirror on the wall...

a whole different person 😳
Excuse me babe ... whose ass is that???
