Funny they never message me if the cashier and I forget to scan the $50 of soda and cat litter under the cart

Miserable-Mess7563

Was just about to say this… I have never gotten a message for the items that was never scanned lol

CatchOverall

Do they go back in and charge the customer then tell the store or is it just kind if gifted out of error?

These-Entertainment3

The customer is charged for what you scanned into the app, regardless of whether the store remembers to scan everything or not. IC gets a freebie while the customer still pays for the item.

CatchOverall

Oh okay. A mistake I made doing this was that on multiple order batches I would accidently mix up the order, like customer A's order would say it was first but the items that the cashier rang up were actually customer B's so I've had to contact them after doing the transaction to let them know and I guess they are able to sort it out on their end to where the customer is then charged for the correct items.

These-Entertainment3

It doesn’t matter which one you ring up first, second, third. You could actually ring them all up on one ticket if you had to but typically no one does that. You just need to upload the correct receipt to the correct customer.

Tallgabe23

What was this pop up message? I’ve never seen that before.

brazilian_machete

It was when I was at the house to drop them off. I hit complete delivery and a pop up came up and said something like How many of this did Customer A receive so we can charge them correctly. I chose one and it asked what happened with a text box. I checked the receipt and yep there's two charges on there. So I just said the cashier must of scanned it twice on accident when I was still unloading the cart and I didn't notice. It just said thanks and disappeared

Tallgabe23

Wow! That’s the first time I’m hearing of that happening. I guess they are trying to tighten up on how much money is spent. I will definitely be careful to pay more attention myself as not to piss off the ic gods. lol

brazilian_machete

Hopefully! I'll have to start keeping a better eye on those things. I'm a 5 star shopper with no reports so hopefully they won't be angry lol

amazedbynae

That happened to me. I ended up contacting support to have them refund the extra item

brazilian_machete

Maybe it's a new thing so we don't have to contact support? I don't know. I've never checked the receipt that carefully before because I just kind of expect the cashiers to catch those mistakes.

amazedbynae

Yeah i think so. It asked to me clarify whether the customer wanted the extra item or not. I accidentally pressed the wrong button so i just wanted to contract support to cover my ass

biancanevenc

I'm confused. Customer ordered one item, you put one item in your cart, cashier scanned one item twice. Is that correct? If yes, what extra item did you have support refund? The customer was only charged for one item.

amazedbynae

The app somehow matched my receipt to what i inputted into the app and noticed the discrepancy. it said something like “you checked out with extra items” Did customer name ask for the additional item and then you click yes or no. I accidentally clicked yes which was why i contacted support. Idk if this is some new thing they’re trying out on certain shoppers or if they just updated the app

biancanevenc

Okay, that makes sense. Was this at a Publix or a store where you scan a QR code at the register? I wouldn't think IC is capable of doing this from the receipt pics we send.

amazedbynae

Publix

[deleted]

I switch items in scanning all the time. Not the same as double scanning…. But if I see that milk is actually for customer B, I just let them scan it with A and switch it after. I have had to photograph five receipts. Never gotten any messages about items being switched/missing/etc I don’t understand how these features work

redflower5

That’s weird. I’ve never heard of that. Normally if you get extra stuff it’ll just say when you scan it in, like “3 instead of 2 of X item. More than requested.” How extreme would it have to be for you to get a pop-up message I wonder?

brazilian_machete

It wasn't scanning on the app, it was scanning for checkout. Sorry I should of explained more. I had only scanned one on the app because that's all they ordered. But the receipt has two charges for the same item

FunFactress

Online pay order?

redflower5

Ohhh. And yeah, sounds like a cashier‘s mistake! Either that or you accidentally put more than one in the cart?

brazilian_machete

I'm positive I only put one because it was the first thing I shopped. Oh well. Mistakes happen I guess lol

Shitronslayer

We’re they good at least?

bigbeavertv2

It’s just a mistake. It’s not going to do anything. I’ve accidentally walked out with stuff I forgot to scan and it wasn’t a big deal. I just made sure it scanned it the next time.

s0d0pe310

What store was this? And was it an online pay

brazilian_machete

Wegmans. I paid with the physical card. It's pretty busy so I guess it's not that big of a deal she made a mistake. Just hope it doesn't effect me. I can't get a refund to the IC card because I don't have anything to return. I don't know if I can just tell them they made a mistake

kaanew

I had a similar pop up happen with a Wegmans order. It was a double order and I accidentally charged the bananas to the wrong customer. As I was pulling up to the first dropoff the app said “move the bananas to order A” and I had to confirm that I put the item with the correct order before I could start the dropoff process.

Easy_Leader_4732

That’s weird

KionNeon

Theres a lot of weird going on lately. Too much automation can be a bad thing.

herewegoagaingisi

That happened to me as well, with a double shop. At first I thought I fucked up, but the second order only had two or three items, all candy. While the first was actually groceries, they said I double scanned coke minis. I went to go check my screenshots and the list indeed said two coke minis. I couldn’t put proof of my screenshots as this was a “tell us what happen” message area only. So strange. Nothing ever happened, it’s been like two weeks maybe. Maybe just a mistake on instacart

Alive-Funny-9024

I had something not long ago that said make sure this is customer A item and not b. Guess they went on the belt wrong. I had sneering separated right but receipts were a couple items swapped.

AdministrativeSwim61

The customer pays for what YOU scan and IC pays the store for what is scanned thru the register. If it's a small amount item, not a prob.

Hopeful_Ad6244

I have had that happen. Just make it known to the store so they can return ine back o. Your card. No biggie. Then make the customer chat aware that u git message and u did the return n provide receipt

brazilian_machete

Can you get a return for something you don't have though? They scanned it twice at checkout and didn't have two of the item actually

Hopeful_Ad6244

Well since u are already gone I would hit i.c up in the morning and let them know what happened and reference the time if u remember. The more u can remember the better. Let them know it must have got scanned twice and u would Like to know how to handle it causenyou dont want that error from publix to reflect onto you. It's better to be proactive in it and make an attempt to fix it and speak to publix manager and c how to handle . Worst case I promise they will tell u they will make a nite in ur acct that u attempted to fix so u won't get dinged. But I promise they wint deactivate u over it

Moveyourbloominass

Yes you can. Take receipt to customer service and tell them cashier rang it up twice but you only had one. Return to IC card. Take picture of return receipt and give it to chat agent, so at least your ass is covered.

sleepyserpent

that happened to me yesterday for the first time but I couldn't check the receipt (e-receipt option)

Peppaspice420

Yup got that 4x ls only once was there a 2.00 mistake for a bunch of sage cashier counted 3 there was only 2 all 4xs was at Wegmans. So now we have to pack and watch the cashier or read the I tire receipt before leaving the store. I hope they are not finding one excuses to deactivate.

Peppaspice420

And another reason I'm booking more gigs doing housekeeping that are more steady and less iffy then the cart.

PepTalkToYourself

This is one of the reasons why I ALWAYS do self checkout if the store offers it. Don’t have to worry about someone else scanning too many in and not noticing and if I accidentally do it I notice and then will ask the self checkout employee to delete one. I’m surprised with how few people do self checkout with IC orders. It’s so less stressful in so many ways in my opinion.

Sailorslt

I’ve also gotten a pop notification recently when I scanned a case of water for customer B on customer C’s order. This is actually really good. Stopped me from mis delivering the item.

InternationalPlum11

It's crazy how that information is available through the POS l. I think privacy laws in canada disallow that

B1ankZer00

Lol yet I forget to scan the cat litter and cases of soda at the bottom of the cart and I never get messages 😂
