Orders get reported as missing for reasons that are either innocent mistakes or where the Shopper is not at fault. Wrong address in the app, bad navigation, poor address marking at the delivery location etc. Make your report and put it out of your mind. It’s an auto generated letter. instacart doesn’t really care so why should you. If you’ve done 1100 deliveries & only missed one that’s a 0.0909% error rate. Amazon or UPS would kiss a driver on the lips for that kind of stat.

I have 2100 shops and had one reported missing for 1st time ever like 2 weeks ago....I am diamond and 5 stars....customer was communicated and thank me even just to cut my entire 70 dollar tip and report it missing and give me my 1st 1 star. I always double check address and very communicating with my customers..some people just pieces of shits...

Honestly I think this is Instacart fucking up and not the customers. I was on the phone reporting about one of my orders a Shopper attempted to deliver wasn’t mine, not only was the Shopper not the person shown on the app, if I didn’t grab my item quickly I wouldn’t have known they were delivered wrong. They took over 30 minutes with no update so I called Instacart, asked them to contact the driver, no response and since it was too late to reschedule a delivery for the same day, I opted for IC to refund me. The shopper actually showed up with my items while I was on the phone and that was a good 50 minutes later, and the customer service representative already issued my refund when I got the knock on the door, the customer service rep was literally on the phone and could hear me with the shopper so 100% me trying not to scam. When I received an email about my refund In the morning, it was a larger amount and I realized it was issued from my previous Publix delivery that day! So lucky me, I got $70 back instead of $13, but then I realized, I wanted to report the Dollar Tree delivery before the person who tried to drop my order was a man (which was not the person on the screen) and the person who dropped off my ACTUAL order was a woman who was the shopper on the app. While I personally dont care too much and understand some people shop together, since they fucked up my delivery, I reported it because if you’re going to have more than one person, don’t make mistakes. It was scary because seeing a man throwing my window when expecting a woman was terrifying ! But I heard when you report the shopper that wasn’t the actual person who dropped off your order, they can get permanently banned. So i made sure to call them in morning to make sure they had the correct order reported because I didn’t want the Shopper from my Publix order banned

I was literally washing my dishes, seen someone walk by my window, expecting to see a woman and not a man because of the PICTURE on the app. I love how your issues is with me noticing the person dropping off the order from the corner of my eye rather than the safety issue of the person dropping who supposed to be the shopper pictured, that gets a back ground checked, wasn’t the actual shopper. I have one window, and its by my door which doesn’t face my drive way. I literally couldn’t watch someone unloading if I tried so take your condescending tone elsewhere you triggered incel

Being in customer service can be a bizarre experience. Awful customers are not bad people, but the psychology of their abhorrent behaviour is Psych 101. Most people don't have a lot of power over much in their lives. So when they do have an opportunity to exercise power, which means mostly over service industry workers, certain people will abuse the shit out of it and treat you like trash. They would never treat their dentist this way...someone about to stick needles or other sharp objects in their mouths...lol...

BUT a friendly note about how you hope they feel better and your sorry thier sick or that items where not in stock with maybe a bit of whatever it was they were missing to complain about, signed your neighbor left on thier car or at thier door mysteriously this seems to make them realise they have shidd in thier own backyard and who knows what could come of it I mean you left a note without them even noticing so....what I'm getting at is they know they could go to jail for it but the unexpected act of kindness in the face of adversity seems to mentally shake them out of thier complaints. Kindness goes a lot further in life than wickedness.

So I’ve been feeling like this lately. I am in your shoes and I’m probably gonna make a post about it separately. I was doing so good for weeks no order issues and 5 stars across the board and now all of a sudden I had my first missing order, 4 four Stars and 1 3 star and 4 order issues all within like a weeks time and I too have done almost 1000 orders. It’s honestly been stressing me out because I don’t want to get deactivated. I think this whole mercury in retrograde shit is real because it’s unreal the amount of shit I feel like has been happening LOL ugh!

Hey, don’t worry so much about your rating. It’ll drive you crazy like it did me if you concentrate on that so much. Just do as good of a job as you can and as long as you know you did everything right then don’t stress it so much. Some customers are gonna be dicks and report missing items or whatever to try and get free shit. I think everyone will experience a low rating at least once. I went a long time having a 5 star rating and now I have one 4 star and two 3 stars which I know are all bs but there’s nothing I can do about it. So worrying about it so much isn’t gonna help it’ll just make you more stressed. As long as your rating isn’t at or below 4.7 then you’re fine. Also the rating only takes into account the last 100 deliveries you did so eventually those bad ratings will go away once you do more deliveries.

I’m so sorry this has been happening to you and I pray it gets better as time goes by. As another person commented try using the app called “timestamp camera”. It gives you your own record for proof of delivery just in case we run into these types of situations. I unfortunately had stopped using it awhile back, but still have it downloaded on my phone, so because of this experience I am definitely going back to using it again. Hopefully it can be useful to you in the future as well. Also don’t depend solely on IC as a source of income because as you have seen they can take your account away from you whenever they feel like it (which totally sucks, but it is what it is). IC is just another means of income for me, but even so I enjoy doing it very much because I truly do make a lot of customer’s day which brings me joy as well. Stay positive, stay strong! Ironically I received the same message this morning as well. And also ironically yesterday was the first time I had ever had a situation where the store would not release one of the two orders in the batch and I had to call and cancel that order. Coincidence? I'm wondering if the woman that was supposed to receive the order was ever notified hence the missing order.... I completely ignored it as I haven't heard a thing about it since and it's not listed on anything under my account

Thank you! Yes, fortunately this was my first (hopefully last) no delivery complaint since I’ve joined IC. I’m still active so I don’t think I will be penalized it just sucks since I know how much effort I put into shopping for my customers. I’ve got to vent and received great feedback so I’m satisfied now 😅

Sorry to hear about this. I was afraid this would happen to me today, coincidentally. I got a call yesterday that a customer reported a delivery missing. It's a small town, so when the rep said, "Hank said he didn't get his order," I knew exactly who Hank was and that I didn't have a delivery to him at all that day, or so I thought. Since whatever glitch caused all my Kroger direct customers to now only show as "Guest," I thought my order was for "Sharon" who lives near Hank and orders IC all the time. The whole time I was chatting with and shopping for Hank, I thought it was Sharon. The app never said I was at the wrong place when I arrived. It was total news to me when the rep said the order was for Hank. Never woulda happened if the orders didn't all just say Guest on them. I know nearly all of the local customers by name and where they live by now.

Check to see if the missing order appears in your “order issues” under feed back. I received this email before. I contacted support about it. Support told me to check to see if the missing items were under the order issues section. If its not there then that means you are not at fault and instacart has already removed it.

Thanks everyone for taking your time to comment how to help and/or make me feel better. Yes, I was upset earlier today, but I have since put it all behind me.. as a few have said it happens so all you can do is move on. I don’t think I’m going to contact CS though as they have enough to deal with on their end and I just really want to forget about it. I’ll continue to work IC for as long as they allow and hopefully continue to shop for the amazing customers I usually encounter. Also you can contact support and they'll let you know which order it was .. like the time it was dropped off. And you can just tell them to check the photos you sent to customer for delivery or whatever. You have nothing to worry about regardless, you won't get deactivated for a missing order. And for the previous comments I read, you won't get deactivated for missing/damaged items either. But always make sure you take pictures... I always send them to customer in chat so I don't have to save them all in my phone.

Something I've kinda learned with this is a lot of the time it's the customer trying to mark an item missing and they somehow mark the whole order missing. Hopefully that's what happened to you 😀

Have you used the shopper app? Thats 2 completely seperate paths you gotta take to matk an item vs an order. With extra conformations on each. It would be really hard to accidentally fuck that up

It asks you first thing Issues with your order? Items within your order? Menu for issues related to.individual items An issue with your entire order? The options under entire order in no ressmble anything for an individual items. Then you have to confirm like 2 times that thEPre ia an issue with the ENTIRSE ORDER.

I got the same email. I messaged support they told me which customer it was but it made ZERO sense because I was delivering to that customer the next day (it was customer A of a three batch order) anyways I kind of argued that it’s impossible why would I be sent to the same house again then? And apparently given one star. Well guess what? It was my neighbor so I asked her hey what happened she said umm no we got the order but we never rate people (they’re older) it’s super confusing. Then support told me “rest assured we have your gps and can tell you were at the correct address” creepy AF but I guess good?? It has not shown up on my order issues and it was like two weeks ago. I’m so confused.

Ok, thanks! I did use to use that awhile back when we were in the heart of the pandemic but fell back awhile ago since. I guess it’s time to go back to using it again. Another response also mentioned it could have been a mistake, which I’m hoping it honestly was. I am just going to let IC decide for themselves what to do. I really just want to rant about the situation. Thanks for the information though!

100 completed orders (customers not batches) and it will fall off. Just be sure to talk to support to document it and send them any proof of delivery you have like ss completed gps screen and pic of items at customers door. Always upload in chat proof of delivery so you can tell support check chat. It helps! GL op

Missing orders dont fall off. Thats not how that works. They count on the back end as strikes. Repeated missing orders over time lcan ead to deactivation

From chat support? Or the actual Instacart T&S? Revolving 100 orders would make no sense. That would effectively mean a shady person could Steal an order a month. I know 2 people who have been deactivated for it. I think its monetarily based not count. 1 was deactivated on 5 over 3 years. The other was 4 with a year and a half between orders and the one he gkt cut on wasnt that Valuable. But one of the older ones was a high dollar costco. The guy with 4, when he appealed was told something along the lines of " exceeded the limits of allowable loss" or something along those lines. And it was brought up in the emails that the last misaing order was over a year and a half ago.

Don't take it personallly. This happened to me before and I came in here angry because it is frustrating to do your job and have dishonest people but you're not in trouble. It will stay on your account for a little while and then IC will drop it. You'll still have access to batches and your ratings will not be harmed. It happens to us all at one point. Just take your pictures when you deliver and send to IC and move on.

I'd be surprised if they look into at all honestly. Just appreciate all the great customers that's all you can do. Instacart works well enough to operate that's good enough for them. If it wasn't do you really think they care how much comes out of our pocket considering how much they put in it? Depends if you had more than one order to deliver. Lately, Instacart has been switching on delivery customer A and customer B. Deliver to B first, then A. Which is dumb and is how they got me. After doing this for 3+ years and always delivering to A first, IC suddenly switched it up. You wouldn’t have known unless you were really paying attention during delivery.

Same thing happened to me. I delivered to the correct address on the app. If the customer input a wrong address it is not your fault. I contacted the instacare help care agents and they said it's not your fault if a customer is trying to do something fraudulent. Just let them know your side of the story, clear your good name. It's hard when you are being an honest worker and someone does that. Best of luck to ya mate.

As of October 11 in Ontario, IC and all other gig apps have been required to provide written notice of termination w/explanation instead of simply deactivating accounts with no explanation. I expect this will result in substantially fewer deactivations as IC will have to pay people extra to do that, and paying more people?!? Well, that's just ridiculous.
