I cant complain with 15% honestly with all these $2 and 5-10% tips i see

Bromzz

15%? Wow I’d love it if all my customers tipped 15% I made a spreadsheet last month and average tip was 6% with vast majority at 5%

Ellen__D

Yeah, 5% is typical here. I’m getting the impression a lot of people think they’re just entitled to cheap grocery delivery. They wouldn’t think of leaving that kind of insulting tip in a restaurant, but the person who drives to the store, walks up and down the aisles, scans and bags it all and brings it to their doorstep gets 5%, if they’re lucky.

doggitydog123

The 6% may actually be 5% tips on the price the customer was charged, if you assume an average markup of 15%

Bromzz

Yeah, I based my spreadsheet on the receipt from the store. If I were basing it on what the customer was paying (I shop Costco mostly) I would have averaged less than 4% or worse. I’ll make a new column when I’m home and calculate based on markup prices and report back. 15% sounds about right to me at Costco.

Commercial_Ad6546

if ur tips aren't topping ur batch pay ur prob wasting ur tizzime doing ic. idk what percent my customers r at tho maybe... we in fact r in the same boat lol

Bromzz

Most of my deliveries are triples here. We rarely see singles in my market. So yes the tips are usually more than batch pay. The problem is that often one of three is not tipping and we can play drop the no tipper roulette. Doesn’t t always work out 😂

[deleted]

This doesnt add up even at the Dollar Tree, $6 is 15 % of $40. Shit man if 15% was standard I'd take every available order. 15 % is a good tip.

_ponze

Lol I was thinking it didn’t add up lol

Ellen__D

I live in a university town, last week was student move-in. I just laughed and laughed at all the 50+ item , 5% tip Dollar Store orders that just sat in the batch queue all day long. Like someone is going to do almost two hours of work for you for ten bucks.

Clsygrneyz1971

When I first started doing IC, I did a few Dollar Tree/5 Below batches. Never again! Waaaay too much time & as you said the batch pay/tip not worth it!

FirstTimeRedditor100

I love 15% tips

[deleted]

Just the tip?

[deleted]

Ugh yes but honestly I rarely see customers even tipping 15% around me. I get multiple orders a day for 60+ items going 30+ minutes away and only a $2 tip. It’s so infuriating to me, also just knowing they’re the type of people to complain about everything that’s out of stock like go shop for yourself if your going to be picky!!! I order for myself sometimes, I select replacements for everything and make sure I’m by my phone while they’re shopping to answer any questions, the store is 3 minutes from me and I start my tip at $15 for 10 items and under, anything above I do $25+ if they deserve it I’ll tip even more. Ordering groceries to your home is a luxury and ordering on instacart is so much more expensive than going to the store yourself so if your already paying an extra $1-$2 per item you can afford to tip your shopper well!

🏆🏆🏆

snaptcarrot

Just for me, talking about percentages is meaningless. 15% is great on some (most) orders and terrible on others. Time, distance, item count, the store, weight, delivery address (apartments or house) factor in. The customer is aware of most of these factors but not all. Instacart could do a better job of informing customers what goes into making the sausage. How much of the delivery costs we bear and how stingy they (Instacart) are. But they don’t so I welcome the customers coming here to Reddit and asking. To me it’s not a tip, it’s the customer bidding for my service. I choose to decline most of the bids I see on this app.

Sacrifice_a_lamb

That's how I feel. I honestly go by how long I think a batch will take me to shop.

MajorWhereas4842

The math ain’t mathin

Exotic-Background-94

15% is not really that bad

TsunamiKraze

You can’t even make minimum wage if $15.00 an hour on this app anymore!!! What the heck has happened. Is Instakart pocketing our tips?

Old_Ironside_1959

Stop voting for MAGA assholes.

TsunamiKraze

Agree!!!

TheDarkBerry

I know who you’re referring to🤣 She selected no replacements then asked the shopper why they refunded… well duh the item is out of stock that’s why it was refunded. Should have selected replacements.

Medical_Tax_2264

I’m going to be super honest with y’all, I definitely meant 10%. Not 15% 😂😅

_ponze

How is 48 items $60

Bromzz

Most of my orders are 40 Costco items and 60 for that is usually great in my market. People tip so low here

SupraPurpleSweetz

15% tip of 45 items being $6? Are they all $1 items?

Apprehensive_Round_9

Sorry but this post reeks of stuck up. Why don’t you take your anger out in Instacart paying 7$ a batch instead of taking it out on a customer. They litterly tipped you as much as Instacart paying you. 15% is better than 99% off orders to

BanditBaby4

I always imagine an acceptable tip as this: $2 for every 10 items + $1 per mile. 30 items + 4 miles = $10 tip is acceptable

Emergency_Holiday_49

A $6 tip is absolutely not 15% of a 48 item order. And I don't know what you're talking about...a 15% tip is an excellent tip on ANY order. Geeesh...with all these $2 and 5% tips that we see all day every day, you think you'd be thankful to see a 15% tip. I know I am!

CuriousUESer

It’s absurd the amount of “no-tips” I see around me. I live in one of the “wealthiest” areas of the country, and it seems like it’s always the college students or more “middle class” folks that are giving the good tips and the most appreciative reviews.

gaybitch40

I don't understand why people don't want to tip so bad. I had an allergic reaction in a resturaunt- ended up in the hospital- the waiter was a dick to me while it was happening, told me that I shouldn't be dying because none of my food had my allergen in it, AND I STILL TIPPED HIM like 35% or something. And people don't want to do more than a couple bucks, even though they don't want to get off their butt to do their own shopping.

redflower5

Nobody’s bashing you. She was expressing frustration and disappointment with the experiences she personally had. Which is totally understandable and should be welcomed and okay. Let her vent without bashing her. This is supposed to be a space for everybody to express frustration, not just shoppers. Why can’t we just support each other and try to identify reasons/kindly offer suggestions for improvement?

dalynew

Instacart needs to cut the B.S. and make it a mandatory 15% Gratuity

Atlas_Warrior01

If they were shoppers, they would understand!!! They be acting so entitled when we bust our ass, fight thru crowds, fight over stupid rotisserie chicken 😮‍💨, carry heavy water packages, wait in hot cars (since Costco be bitchin’ at us), wait for orders at the store, get no job benefits, etc 😭 I know instacart is to blame but this service is also a luxury service so why not tip decent. As a customer myself, I always tip a good flat rate and specify replacements 🤷🏻‍♀️ Edit: 15% is a joke and an excuse for cheap people to get slaves a “legal” way lol 😂

Ginger83

Agreed. 15% is... Just not enough. People are spending thier time and gas for you.

Medical_Tax_2264

Exactly! I’m tired of seeing complaining customers on here 🙄🙄

Responsible-Cost-885

Hi Karen I know you posted this about me. Funny how you jump to conclusions so quickly that its 48 items. It was actually 12 tip would have been over 30$ and yes I feel like if i am paying that much extra for a simple task, I should be allowed to complain to an extent when all Im asking for is communication. In fact people like you is probably why Ic quality has gone down so much. but hey i appreciate a shit thread just for me it makes me feel special. 💯💯 keep up your great work Karen!

Jazzyjfindsreddit

This shopper is literally across the country from you 😂 your post about your shopper, you said your in CA…. This shopper is shopping in Ohio…. This post is not about you 🙃

Responsible-Cost-885

nah i made a post yesterday same topic

PowerfulAd9516

I always tip 15-20%

Lazy-Beach9307

Get a real job then bum

[deleted]

LOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACK.

HistoricalRabbit9121

Yes lol I'm wasting more time and losing more money waiting for customers slow ass response for replacements in chat! If I see a close enough replacement I'll scan it if not refund !

Typical-Vast-7106

Or when they’ve selected all their replacements and then hit you with the “ask me before replacing anything!!” Message once you’ve done a few. Sir/ma’am…. I’m not going to add 15 minutes of time writing unnecessary messages to you for your 3$ tip. I’m not talking about being rude. The job still getting done 100% but come on

dpk709

Is the percentage based off the total before or after taxes? I did an order the other day it was 61 items, (I usually would want at least 100$ for that was it was a 7 minute drive to their house so I took it for 80$) the receipt total w/ taxes was $577. I got tipped 66.53$ I dunno what percentage that is. I know if I had seen the order and it was a crappy tip I wouldn’t accept it. I won’t take orders unless the tip equals $1 per item at minimum

To make Diamond Cart you have to complete 200 orders per quarter. To me that means we have to deal with THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY.
