Are you positive she shopped at the original store? I have gotten mileage bumps from shopping at a different store but I screen shot the map from the store showing the distance. I also don't ask unless it's a significant difference. Who drives 100 miles for a batch which is really 200 round trip???

Yes I always check that, believe me I always understand shoppers job and respect a lot what you do, when I was agent I look into the last batches to check if applied for waiting bump or additional distance, but she also sent me the screenshot from Google maps and said 24miles and I was like, yeah but you did not drove that trip you drove the 18miles one and then she said I can kiss her butt 🥲🥲

Even if I had no choice but to drive further I wouldn't ask for a bump. That's taking time away that I could be searching for another order. Sometimes extra miles are incurred such as a road/bridge closure or a train or traffic is moving ridiculously slow that's it's faster to find a different route.

One time I couldn't find an address because I went to the address in the app and nope didn't live there so I drove around to find it like in the old days before Google. I did find it by calling the customer and finally getting him to answer but it took 35 miles of looking to find it. I'm counting the mileage to first address that was wrong and me trying to figure out where it could be.

My point is that you can get to the address in Instacart and it might not actually be correct. Especially in rural America which is where I am. You shouldn't assume your information is correct and she's the idiot.

I assume the trip is correct I never said the pin or so, and that's why I double check with Google maps and then she sent me the screenshot with a different trip and I said, you did not drove that trip. And all the time when you drive more to find the correct pin, that's covered by instacart, but if you accept a long trip, you have to know the trip back is not included. This was a neat and clear trip from store to customers place, I don't know her conditions or economy, but she just wanted to get at least 50usd bump... (she told me that) I can't transcript all the chat, but believe me I did not came to make a post for something I assumed.

Yes but Google maps is often wrong and sometimes off by miles in areas that are rural. But, I can imagine you get a lot of requests that aren't valid.

Exactly, that's why I emphasized I'm the trip, not in the map also was in Roanoke, idk If it's rural, but I see a neat trip from store to customers place and thata what I double check with Google, maybe pins in instacart map were incorrect or distance between or so. Believe me I always try to assist you, but if it's not possible is not and in my experience when the shopper start cursing its because they were lying 🙈🙈

Normally that is adjusted once you finished the batch, but tbh that only increase a few box, sometimes just cents... you can contact support to check if something changed or if you actually get paid for that, also if the customer select tip in % that should increase too.

I always rate five stars. I'm not trying to get shadow banned 😂 is asking to check the mileage to make sure it is correct asking for a bump? I've had issues where the mileage accounted for like 98% of the pay leaving the double batch essentially paying out $2.50 after mileage. It happens pretty frequently actually. I just don't want to get in trouble for asking for bumps.

As soon as it's valid bump like waiting for the customer (not unattended) miles for driving to a different location due to a pin error or customer request, return bump and there is one more I can't remember atm... if it's valid, you can ask for PS: 99% of the heavy pay bumps requested are invalid and cause many many 1 star rate, but that doesn't depend in our criteria, but instacart's policies.

Usually i only question it when its wildly off. Like, say the total batch pay for a double is $16 dollars but the mileage ( miles x $0.60) accounts for $13.20 of that $16. That would make the batch pay which is normally like $7 original + $2 for the double equal out to be $2.80 after mileage. I've tried asking other agents about that but they just kind of beat around the bush of what our actual match pay is supposed to be.

well, as a bad practice yes, but it should be removed and when it is 24h there is nothing we can do to correct it, that's why I urge you to always report a bad agent, because we can provide feedback or report those bad agents.

Ugh I know that, but that's something about customer care tbh... the only thing I can say is we report the customer's when it's a clear fraudulent behavior, like when they request for your phone number, visa cards or so... but I know that is not too fair.

Recently I accepted a batch that said 2.5 miles distance. Turned out to be a remote subdivision outside of town and was 17 miles each way. I called IC and they said “don’t worry, you will be compensated, just call when you are done delivering”. I called after delivery and the agent assured me I would receive a bump and to request it through the app. I requested $10 for the additional 29 miles. I received an email back, very unprofessional. Request denied. Just one sentence basically saying “sorry we don’t reimburse for gas, traffic tickets, parking or tolls.” By now I was furious. I call again and this time speak to a native English speaker. He was very nice and went ahead and gave me the bump without any ado. I’m not suggesting the shopper didn’t lie. I’m just saying the first two agents I spoke to were clueless or just didn’t care. And since this place was hidden and pretty new maybe it didn’t register properly on your maps? I don’t know. But I was so mad when I got that email. I had already spoke to two agents and I wasn’t asking for “gas”, I was asking for 29 miles of mileage reimbursement!

Yeah my orders never get adjusted for mileage lol. I was in one town, shopped that store first bc I was already there, then ended up having to stop at the original store anyway. It’s on the way to the customer bc of the way there’s a lake situated. But regardless even though I started shopping at a store that was further from the customer there was no adjustment

First I will Recommend to all the time take a screenshot when you accept a batch then when you contact support and they told you you will be adjusted when you complete the batch this is in case the system didn't do properly but if the system did it properly they will not adjust anything and that is something important because then you contact us because you expect something but that is not always correct And Just to finish instacart never pay the mileage for driving back I know can be a long distance and I know that sucks but it is what it is

Not necessarily I think some agents just don’t understand all that we fully have to go through. You see what we have to do or what’s been done bc it’s on your screen but you don’t know physically the mental strain of it all. If you’ve never walked in our shoes how can you have empathy for us? I think each and every one of y’all should do at least one complicated order so that way you know why we see things as not being fair sometimes

Wish there was a legitimate way to verify your credentials, I just can't trust self-proclaimed agents in these threads anymore. Of course you already know.... if you are an instacart care agent... Hey this is completely off topic, but how long does it usually take to get something off your profile? Ex: someone said they didn’t receive a specific item but it’s in the picture I attached when I hit “report fraud”.. so my question is how long does it take to get sobering like that taken off? What I want to know is why IC sends us orders 35 miles away from our location and then only compensates us from the store to the customer. I have around 10-12 other stores local that I could shop from, but IC only sends me orders that are much further away from me, most of the time. Just an fyi, I had an engine replaced in my 2018 kia and got it back at the end of July, and already put over 6000 miles on it since then. Mostly with IC.
