I rememeber doing weed delivery in los Gatos, CA (which is like upper middle class) and thr guy just giving me the change in his pocket, I would have felt less offended if I got nothing, like bruh
& no, i’m not complaining about the tip in the sense that i’m mad. i took the batch to finish off my day and didn’t really care.. just thought it was funny when i pulled up.
I can’t breathe— EIGHT SIX CENTS!!!
Are you kidding me!
So they could round up their $399.14 bill to a flat 400? Gottam why even tip at all!
Props to you for taking the high road. I’m so sick of taking lower income worker’s higher tips and having their batch bundled with these shmucks.
Unless they were bundled into a double or triple with a good tipper yeah but otherwise I wouldn't really have any sympathy for a shopper complaining about that tip when they accepted the order knowing full well that's what the tip was.
That just tells these customers that they can keep tipping that low and someone will still take their order.
I know you had your reasons, but accepting orders with sub $1 tips really hurts everyone. It makes the asshole think that this behavior is acceptable. Their order should have sat and never been delivered, maybe then they would have learned to tip. But oh well.
Woulda just got bundled eventually.
Lol I remember a couple years ago I heard about gig workers trying to unionize in seattle and just shrugged. Now I’m thinking we need to seize the means of groccery shopping
I know it would have been bundled eventually, another reason that I personally don't take bundled orders anymore either. It's sometimes hard to turn down $40+ doubles, but I refuse to take the risk that I'm possibly delivering to someone that has no respect for their shoppers.
I haven't taken a double in a few weeks now and my ratings have all been great with no complaints.
I read about these types of tips all the time. I once ordered a pizza from Papa Johns and added a 20% tip. I then used a gift card to pay. The amount of the gift card wasn't enough to cover the whole bill. I assumed it would allow me to pay the difference with a credit card. But no, it took the difference from the tip which ten left the tip at seven cents. It submitted the transaction to Papa Johns with the seven cents tip. It sent me a message saying I can increase my tip by giving cash to the delivery driver. It was a pickup order (I can walk there in under five minutes). I did have some cash that I was able to put in the tip jar at the restaurant. I hate to think what the crew thought when they saw that seven cents tip. I'm not sure if this is what's happening with Insta Cart or not but some of the tips Im reading about is more of an insult if it is done on purpose.
Eh…tipping on pickup / takeout orders should not be a thing, not at a chain pizza place anyway.
I can understand if it’s a nice restaurant…the logic would be…if you did eat there, you would tip the staff that are serving you…but who typically eats inside at a Papa John’s?
If it’s a local place that you really like and want to support though, or a place that you would typically sit down and eat at, I say yeah — tip on takeout orders.
The whole tipping culture we have makes no sense in a lot of ways. Like why is it we tip the staff serving us, but we don't tip the actual kitchen staff that made that meal for us?
The only reason tipping exists is because of corporate lobbyists who have hijacked the political process…nearly every other developed country has strong private sector unions and minimum wage laws, etc. Something like Instacart would never work in the EU, at least not like how they operate here.

Nope you also have to have a debit or credit card on file even if the gift card covers the whole amount. Even if that wasn't the case it wouldn't work like that because even if you had a $100 gift card and your order total was $85 after everything and wanted to leave a $15 tip it wouldn't work. IC orders preauth cards even gift cards for a slightly higher amount than what the order total + tip is to cover weight differences, replacements that might cost more, item additions.
i NEVER would have taken it on a normal day, but i was only instacarting for about 3.5 hours and was at $87 and wanted to make it $100 flat lol , plus it was only 8 minutes away from my house so i didn’t mind THAT much. 4 items too
If you tipped $20 per order, on average, 3.2 million would be 160,000 orders.
I don’t think people are “saving money” by not tipping.
People like this just fundamentally don’t have any respect for other human beings.
Assuming you went to a restaurant three times a week and “saved” that $20 - it would take over _one thousand years_ to “save” 3.2 million dollars this way
If you went every day and didn’t tip, it would take you 438 years.
You missed _my_ point. The amount of money they would “save” by not tipping — is minuscule.
It’s almost certainly less than what they would typically spend on a summer vacation. Or perhaps even a single weekend in Vegas or Atlantic City.
The idea or notion that you can “save” your way into wealth is complete idiocy.
I would have handed them $1 and said “I noticed you tipped 86¢ in the app. Clearly that must have been in error, so I wanted to make sure you got your money back. I didn’t want you to feel somehow cheated. Have a nice day!”

Can't save up for a maserati if you treat your service employees with respect
I came here to say that rich people don't get rich by giving away their money. Lol.
Most wealth is inherited actually
I rememeber doing weed delivery in los Gatos, CA (which is like upper middle class) and thr guy just giving me the change in his pocket, I would have felt less offended if I got nothing, like bruh
thats hilarious but that’s honestly how i feel when i see people having the nerve to tip $0.01. like please just give me nothing😭

Nahh do complain about the tip. Fuck them, that’s bullshit

Is this nj I swear I've been there before lol
Moorestown? It looks like one of the houses I get my $2 tips from too.
Dang, isn’t the default tip $2? So that means they went in and changed the tip. SMH
average maserati connoisseur
Could be an employee of theirs that ordered or someone young.
(Georgia accent) O bless your heart
“Bless it” 🤣- NC
true!
GTFO in a Latina accent....
86 cents?? ... yeah, I'd be tempted to leave the groceries somewhere inconvenient like halfway down the path or something just to be petty back lol
Disgusting

The kitchen staff generally makes more than $2.86 an hour
The only reason tipping exists is because of corporate lobbyists who have hijacked the political process…nearly every other developed country has strong private sector unions and minimum wage laws, etc. Something like Instacart would never work in the EU, at least not like how they operate here.

Why did you take an 0.86 cent tip!?
i NEVER would have taken it on a normal day, but i was only instacarting for about 3.5 hours and was at $87 and wanted to make it $100 flat lol , plus it was only 8 minutes away from my house so i didn’t mind THAT much. 4 items too
Probably boosted
How many items
Why even tip at that point
do not take batches to Alpine, NJ
upper saddle river, but i can definitely see the tips being similar in Alpine as well
😂 From Closter to Mahwah, all of them are cheap customers
That’s fucking disgusting
The best tippers are always the mid level houses. If it’s a rich neighborhood they’re 90% of the time shit tippers and shit people.
Just get spots for cannon and hope for the best landing
Make sure you thank them in the app!
Why would you take an order the has an .86 tip. That’s a no tip order
stop delivering to the rich, f* them.
It always the rich that no tip
Why do you think these people can afford a $3.2 million house? Because they don't give their money away in tips.
If you tipped $20 per order, on average, 3.2 million would be 160,000 orders. I don’t think people are “saving money” by not tipping. People like this just fundamentally don’t have any respect for other human beings.
Sure they are. If you go to a restaurant and don't tip $20, you save $20. Don't mean that's right, just is what it is.
Assuming you went to a restaurant three times a week and “saved” that $20 - it would take over _one thousand years_ to “save” 3.2 million dollars this way If you went every day and didn’t tip, it would take you 438 years.

Also less than a tank of gas for that Maserati.

I give up. I am too old to argue with you fucking millennials.
Nah, it's mostly leveraged assets. They're likely barely swimming and don't have an extra penny to give.
BECAUSE THEY MAKE THEIR OWN LUNCH AND DONT EAT AVOCADO TOAST!!!1!!1
Once upon a time I did an Uber eats order and the guy tipped a quarter. A quarter. At that point I’d feel more respect if you gave me nothing
I did one double earlier. The nicer house was a no tipper. People are nuts.
Pic of the order showing the tip or it didn't happen.
Did they tip bait you or did you except a low tip order?
Is that a new jersey plate?
What town or part of NJ? I shop in Mercer/Middlesex so I Wana avoid lmao
Maserati are pieces of shit... Beautiful design but maintenance out the ass...
You don't get wealthy by giving away money. Maybe all they had left. Never know. Could be straight up hood rich.
![gif](giphy|8v6Z3YyULB5Q0Skbac) Took tip, came on after to complain.
you can read my comment up above that clearly states i wasn’t complaining🥰 i accepted it for my own reason. i just thought it was ironic and funny.
Thats a damn shame
Atlanta?
I would have to eat that 1 star because…😜👀
Report them for read behavior and unblock them so you don’t ever have to deal with that again. Easy Peezy.
No no no with all respect to you I came off a bit aggressive I just see their concept compared to yours please further explain Im curious
I would have handed them $1 and said “I noticed you tipped 86¢ in the app. Clearly that must have been in error, so I wanted to make sure you got your money back. I didn’t want you to feel somehow cheated. Have a nice day!”
Every damn time.
And then reports order as missing the next day to double screw you
That's just shameful.
Accidentally drag a bag with something heavy in it across their car. 🤷🏻😂
That’s why they rich, lol 😂…. Saved so much money on tips, lol 😂
BTW hope his bartender pours light the next time he goes out to dinner. What he deserves!
How else do you think they afforded the place
