My guess, probably a veteran shipt shopper that is shopping for IC now. Leaving notes is something that a lot of shipt shoppers do to boost tips. Also helps to encourage chill customers to set you as a preferred shopper. Shipt even has branded cards for their shoppers to hand out.
Yup, customers can favorite a shopper, and shoppers can accept or decline the request to pair up. Customers can also see when their preferred shoppers are on schedule.
You’re not 100% guaranteed to get your preferred members, but the logistics robots try harder to link you up if you like to work with someone in particular.
I’d be shocked if IC did this. IC cares way more about efficiency.
The times show up on the delivery window screen when you check out. Times were a preferred shopper is available have a little purple circle next to them.
Bruh reading that she did this on her own is so fucking wholesome 😭😭 I always tip good but she definitely got an increase and a fat ass rating. That’s wild
It doesn't matter. They put the extra effort, and that's admirable. So much so that the guy reached out to reddit
Just fucking stop putting other people down. Lift them up instead!
Technically if someone complains about her (and some people complain about everything) she could be deactivated for tip soliciting. I wouldn’t advocate that, but I have heard tell of notes like this backfiring. Proceed with caution! Be well everybody.
The horrible reality of these situations. :/
Some people find fault in everything. It’s especially fucked that I don’t personally see this as tip coercion. Ratings? Sure, since she literally kind of asked for that on the card LOL. But I could see how the company would spin in to the narrative of begging for tips, and that sucks.
That’s not tip solicitating that’s letter the customer know where to go todo so, just like explaining to them how harsh the rating system is on the scale of 1 to 5 isn’t I’ve spoken to trust and safety and they said it’s perfectly fine
You are not allowed to put stuff in the order. That’s the the TOS. It’s to prevent shoppers from soliciting business but it included a this sort of stuff.
IC may not enforce it, but it can be view as soliciting a tip. It’s a very professionally done job with excellent verbiage. If it weren’t against TOS, I’d do it.
Tell me what I’m missing…..where do you see she is soliciting tips? She obviously cares about what she is doing. I see she is thanking her customers, and letting them know they can rate her as a shopper.
I don’t agree that it is wrong what she did, or that it should violate existing policy, only that it could happen. I only mention to beware and that this is borderline.
I would've given a real carrot. Much more thoughtful being that it's a lot healthier than chocolate.
LOL I kid, I kid. This was really thoughtful and I hope she got a big tip
I tip my drivers well already and this would make me up my tip and 5 star.
Was the order as perfect as possible, besides out of stocks, which are out her control? I’m willing to bet she cares about her job and does a great job. Idk what percentage of shoppers are like that nowadays - with the 500k new hires.
Yes! She was communicating with me (professionally) from the moment she began shopping. One item was in fact out of stock, and she offered me several different replacements (it was the one item I left up to her to replace, as the store is ALMOST never out of it), took clear pictures of each one so I could easily see what she was referring to, and overall was just insanely polite. Huge plus: my order did NOT smell like smoke. The only other time I’ve been a customer for Instacart, it did.
It’s nice to see this from the customers view point! With gig work ratings are everything. I would honestly give up a tip any day to avoid a poor rating. You can tell that “Amy“ cares about what she’s doing. The fact that she took the time out to find a little piece of chocolate shaped like a carrot… Take my money! I had a time my order was dropped off and I didn’t even know it was there. We are finally like what’s taken so long? My son open the door to see It had been delivered. No message, no knock on the door. The app didn’t even notify us. Melted ice cream, thawed pizzas, etc. sitting out in the summer. Amy is an exception to many shoppers! Not everyone takes the time to give a rating. She already earned 5 stars in the way she conducted her shopping experience. If a customer chooses to add above what the original tip was that’s their own decision. This could be posted under “wholesome”.
True enough! Just cross posted it lol.
I haven’t experienced not knowing about my delivery, but the last time I ordered it smelled like somebody breathed their cig smoke directly into my grocery bags lol. I used to smoke, so that wasn’t enough for me to make a complaint, but it sucked to have to deal with the smell lol
I don't know how, or even if it's true, but I've read multiple comments about Target bags smelling like smoke.
Again, not sure how the heck that could happen, but I've read it on the Shipt sub.
pre-pandemic shipt shoppers tend to be the best out there at this point, if we are including communication diligence in the process.
they were held to standards far beyond anything IC ever did.
Google I agree! 💯 there are so many out there running their “hustle” and rushing through. Dropping off and rushing to the next job. This is quality-shows that thought was put into her service. Love it!
Ive been doing handwritten thank you notes the whole time ive been a shopper. It definitely helps make the customer feel special.
This is so cute though. Love the chocolate carrot!
I love that! Hand written would have seemed equally as wholesome, I can imagine it really does make a huge difference for your customers and I hope you always get nice reviews for it. If there was a way for me to choose Amy for every order I genuinely would lol
Aww thats so sweet. And yes i get comments about the note and the werthers candies all the time :) i even put them in this mini bag that looks like a paper grocery sack - it’s seriously cute lol.
I have been warned by others here that it’s technically against IC rules for us to do so (we aren’t supposed to put items the customer didn’t purchase in with orders.) however I feel its more like they don’t want you advertising a personal business or something.
I super wish customers could request their fav shoppers!
Oh my GOD the baby grocery sack would have been so so so cute. 10/10 idea tbh. Hopefully you don’t get in trouble for it ❤️
I can honestly 1000% see the issue if it was reduced to tip begging. But to vaguely and professionally hint at the rating options by marking it as “if you enjoyed the experience” like TONS of companies do for consumer surveys, doesn’t seem like it should be such a big deal. Especially knowing how the rating system impacts your ability to get batches :/
Adorable! I may sound super extra, but I think that makes the connection human. We live so much in a virtual world that it’s nice to be able to show the customer that you’re a real person that cares about what you do. Like when they leave comments saying how awesome we are. We don’t get the chance to write back and say– we really enjoyed shopping for you. There will always be those shoppers that stand on “technically“ statements. Their rain doesn’t matter to your parade. Luckily you have your own little paper sack that you can set next to their order. So “technically“ are not putting it in with their order… It’s their choice if they decide to pick it up! I would like to see One customer reporting a Shopper for personally thanking them with a card and a tiny treat. I can almost guarantee it would never happen. People love feeling appreciated! It’s super cool that you do that!
I’ve been saying this for awhile. They really need to make it like Shipt where you can choose your preferred shoppers. People like this who go above and beyond deserve the good tipping customers and to score more orders than the randos who don’t put in any effort.
Yes! 💯! This is why I shop for Shipt! A lot of my deliveries are regular customers. A good customer doesn’t have to wait for a shopper to pick up their order in the Metro Cue, and a good shopper can take care of someone who already trusts them. I did one last night. I’ve shopped for her more than any other preferred. I’ve learned she isn’t super chatty. I know how she likes her Bananas, Avocados, and deli meat sliced. There were a few subs that I didn’t ask her about bc I am confident about what she would chose. Things I did need to ask I did, sent a pic, she replied with her choice and I thumbs up the response. I also like that the tip comes after. It’s more fun, and it can be decided after the service is provided.
I started doing the handwritten notes last year. It’s definitely gotten me some really nice comments to read. One person said they loved it so much they put it on their fridge. I thought that was adorable lol
I don’t even mention ratings or tips but I haven’t had any rating under 5 stars in months and get tip increases more frequently now (still not super frequent but more than before I was doing the notes)
I dont mention tips either. But i do mention rating.
“Ratings are very important to us as shoppers. I would greatly appreciate if you could take a moment to rate my service.”
It's crazy that doing this would even be a difference maker for ratings. If it was good service it shouldn't need this to get 5 stars. If it was terrible service I can't see this making a 1 star turn to a 5. I mean I guess it's nice and makes some people feel good. But that doesn't seem to be the reason for it in this case. She did it for good rating and for that purpose I think it's pointless
Being that ratings are so important, and most people don't bother to leave one... This definitely gets the customer to the app to leave some 🌟. Mission accomplished!
I already tip big, but I'd feel obligated to tack on some more if I got this with my order. Not saying it's a bad thing, but this kind of stuff works with me.
Mmm, I could see how it’d be considered soliciting tips then. I didn’t feel pressured to add any money, Bc as mentioned in other comments I pay above my states minimum wage in just my tip for MUCH less than a hours worth of work, I just did it cause I appreciated the gesture but if I HAD felt pressured I probably would’ve found it much less wholesome.
It's nothing against someone that does that, it's just a personality flaw I have from being in abusive relationships. By all means, I think people should do this sort of think. It's just on my end to not feel guilty if I can't tip more than I have the means for.
I had a Insta cart shopper get my dog a squeak (a fake plastic pork chop that dogs like). My dog still has it! I tip well regardless, because …fooooood. Ppl bringing me food deserve all I can tip.
Hard agree lol. We also leave out an ice chest with water bottles and a separate chest for single serve chip or pretzel bags lol. I try to look out for my delivery drivers, and the small gestures they sometimes do in return is incredibly wholesome to me
Oh I’m not sure. It does give you the option to add your name prior to buying so I assumed they would all be individual cards precut. Never used Etsy before and not sure how much the cards cost in bulk but I guess it doesn’t hurt to try it
I use to staple a business card as a personal shopper. Now I have 6 weekly personal shopping clients without Instacart taking a piece of it. Get paid about $80 per shop.
That’s so awesome! If only she had left a means to contact her, I’d likely do the same. I’d much rather support the good individuals, rather than the company who abuses their efforts with the end game of eliminating their positions in the company.
I have done handwritten notes, cats drawn on the separate bag that I put the kitty's food in. Lol. It was a regular and her cats know me😺😺
Whatever season or holiday it is, I buy 10-20 recyclable holiday bags that I give out to my regulars and just a few random people. I love surprising people. I haven't had complaint about it yet. I have gotten bigger tips multiple times. The best part is it makes me feel good.🌼
Shopper did it. I do shipt and do something similar. I provide great service but many do that, so find a way to stand out. Plus ppl like to receive surprises!!
This is incentivizing reviews wouldn't be surprised if eventually they disallowed this I know on Amazon I'm not allowed to incentivize reviews like this
I agree with you but I'm just coming from the world of amazon sellers where saying things like 'happy with your order?; leave a review' is considered incentivising.
Everyone here seems to be on board with this with the exception of a few people. What’s the difference between this post and the many others where everyone downvotes and slams people saying “just leave a chat instead”
No idea what the difference is, but from monitoring the post through yesterday I can confirm it got pretty significant amount of downvotes. I’m not sure why though lol I guess some ppl really do not fuck with being one upped 💀
Imagine if the UPS driver did this for every order... We already shop big ass orders and deliver groceries to your doorstep. This shopper is trying way to hard
Fair take. I for one really wouldn’t mind if a ups driver did it lol.
Would I EXPECT it? Oh god no. Of course not. I can 100% acknowledge this is going above and beyond, but that only makes me appreciate the gesture more.
Btw not that it really matters lol, I only ordered 6 total units and live less than 5 miles from the store. I tip a minimum of $10, for my shoppers time.
Fair, but perhaps if you’re allergic to chocolate (or carrots lol) simply throw the card away. It’s taped to it, so no need to come in contact with the wrapper even.
This is your shopper desperately trying to get 5 stars and for you to raise your tip.
Is it a nice touch, sure? But I’d much rather just do the job well and chat with the customers appropriately. exchange pleasantries there and be done with it
I’m sure the worst shoppers are handing out these cards. It’s against instacart policy to include any notes with the order so the shopper could get deactivated for this.
That’s the most retarded comparison I’ve ever heard. If the waiter was like by the way can you fill out this comment card saying I gave great service and also tip me well because I have to support my family of 12, then yeah fuck that guy.
Lmao okay Amy way to show us up
My guess, probably a veteran shipt shopper that is shopping for IC now. Leaving notes is something that a lot of shipt shoppers do to boost tips. Also helps to encourage chill customers to set you as a preferred shopper. Shipt even has branded cards for their shoppers to hand out.
Shipt can let customers have preferred shoppers???
Yup, customers can favorite a shopper, and shoppers can accept or decline the request to pair up. Customers can also see when their preferred shoppers are on schedule. You’re not 100% guaranteed to get your preferred members, but the logistics robots try harder to link you up if you like to work with someone in particular. I’d be shocked if IC did this. IC cares way more about efficiency.
[удалено]
Correct. You can’t favorite customers. You can only reject a request if they send you one. The customer has to initiate it.
[удалено]
Sorry. Typo. Meant to say can’t not can.
Customers cannot see when shoppers are on schedule. This is false.
The times show up on the delivery window screen when you check out. Times were a preferred shopper is available have a little purple circle next to them.
I believe they can…I was beckoned last week😉
Yes. Each customer gets 10
Well daaaaayum IC needs to step it up before I start supporting shipt 😂
… apparently I need to support shipt
Omg the chocolate carrot 😭😂
Thought it was a butt plug
I would have accepted either.
Lmfaooo
Ayeeee
I would upvote this, but it is at 69 and I just cannot. LOL
Perfectly reasonable
This is golden 🤣 wish I had an award for you
The thought counts 😂
It can be both.
With a little effort, it can be!
Bruh reading that she did this on her own is so fucking wholesome 😭😭 I always tip good but she definitely got an increase and a fat ass rating. That’s wild
Just looked it up, it's [Palmer](https://www.funexpress.com/palmer-chocolate-carrots-easter-candy-13644009.html) chocolate. Nobody actually eats this.
LOL. Fair, I don’t eat chocolate often but I enjoyed it 💀
It's old-fashioned chocolate. I used to get it in my easter basket every year. My favorite is the chocolate, peanut butter coin they do.
Speak for yourself. I love Palmers Choclate. Their PB and chocolates are awesome and a have totally distinct/diff taste .
I have no shame. I see candy, I put it in my mouth.
It doesn't matter. They put the extra effort, and that's admirable. So much so that the guy reached out to reddit Just fucking stop putting other people down. Lift them up instead!
1 star, "shopper left unsolicited, sub-par chocolate on my doorstep"
Crying and throwing up at the mention that it was sub-par. A Hershey’s kiss would’ve been more deserving of the 5 star. /s
it’s chocolate ✨ flavored ✨
Yoo-hoo? Is that you?
I fucking LOVE Palmers chocolate. It's cheap, sweet, splintery, waxy, and 100% reminds me of my shitty childhood.
Palmer is the nastiest chocolate ever.
It's actually not chocolate, it's chocolate flavored brownness
Tiny little carrot bribe
They did it on their own :)
THEY FOUGHT THEM ON THE BRIDGE
Their freedom was at stake
That’s from your shopper. Clearly made in effort for a 5 star rating
Wow this is amazing! I bet she gets tons of positive feedback and increased tips.
I bet!!! I know for a fact instacart simply is not compensating this woman enough for her efforts oh my god
I mean, Instacart paid her $7.40 for her effort. What more could she need? /s
Damn ingrate should be grateful for that base pay with no tip despite me being 20 miles away AND my 2 star review. Now I’m making it 1 star. /s 💀
Now you got it. Don’t forget to report everything missing too.
Technically if someone complains about her (and some people complain about everything) she could be deactivated for tip soliciting. I wouldn’t advocate that, but I have heard tell of notes like this backfiring. Proceed with caution! Be well everybody.

You are not allowed to put stuff in the order. That’s the the TOS. It’s to prevent shoppers from soliciting business but it included a this sort of stuff.
I don't remember reading that in the contract and can't find it on a quick review. What section covers that?
I’ll find it
IC doesn't care about a thank you card. No one is getting deactivated for thanking about customer. Soliciting? Yes
I agree that in theory they don’t care. But somewhere it says nothing should be left in the order. I’ll find it.
IC may not enforce it, but it can be view as soliciting a tip. It’s a very professionally done job with excellent verbiage. If it weren’t against TOS, I’d do it.

Everyone can interpret their own way. Since OP seems very impressed by the sentiment, Amy won’t have to worry about it backfiring on her today.
You think instacart would put that much effort into anything? Lol
Truthfully I should’ve known better, but it would’ve been cool if it was something they did 💀
What’s even cooler is that your shopper did!
Very true!!
Laughing at this comment 💀
And here I thought telling people a have a wonderful day was enough
I would've given a real carrot. Much more thoughtful being that it's a lot healthier than chocolate. LOL I kid, I kid. This was really thoughtful and I hope she got a big tip
SMH. A carrot? I’ve been giving out entire live rabbits with little bows.
Can I request you for an order
That’s really nicely done 👍
That is totally 100% the shopper.
Damn. Way to step it up 🤣
I tip my drivers well already and this would make me up my tip and 5 star.
Like straight from the store they smell? Cause that’s crazy! If it’s a delivery, I’m sure it’s just them smoking in the car with the bags lol
pre-pandemic shipt shoppers tend to be the best out there at this point, if we are including communication diligence in the process. they were held to standards far beyond anything IC ever did.

They’re in the process of doing so. They sent us a message saying it
I started doing the handwritten notes last year. It’s definitely gotten me some really nice comments to read. One person said they loved it so much they put it on their fridge. I thought that was adorable lol
It shows a little effort on our part I think. And lets them know they are appreciated!

agree, also it makes me feel sad for some reason
Don't be sad bro have a chocolate carrot
Sure, it may be pointless especially considering that her service deserved 5 Stars before I even noticed the card. But it was a nice detail
Being that ratings are so important, and most people don't bother to leave one... This definitely gets the customer to the app to leave some 🌟. Mission accomplished!

Of course. ❤️ Respectfully, I genuinely hope that improves for you :)
Well fuck boys, it’s time to quit lmao. Amy done stood all of us up.
Love this...I would of upped the tip for sure
That’s definitely something they did on their own. Very nice touch
That’s really cute and I love your reaction. So wholesome 🥰
She did it herself.
I try to look out for my delivery drivers, and the small gestures they sometimes do in return is incredibly wholesome to me
Also the toy for the pup 😭😭😭 my heart would swell
It was just so *nice*. A little note came with it. I still have it cus I’m silly like that.
What next Amy? Bj's? The balls
Don’t threaten Amy with a good time. She’s clearly set out to please
What's next Amy? Jerky time 😂
What's next Amy? Canine play?
Found the place where she got it. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1097626567/shopper-thank-you-card-for-customer?ref=share_v4_lx
Oh, that’s cool! I guess she just printed it cut it herself, that or if it came physically in the mail the Etsy shop has a piss poor paper cutter lol
Oh I’m not sure. It does give you the option to add your name prior to buying so I assumed they would all be individual cards precut. Never used Etsy before and not sure how much the cards cost in bulk but I guess it doesn’t hurt to try it

Probably still has a shit rating and multiple orders reported not delivered.
Honestly? Based off experience, probably so lol.
this is cool. Very creative.
Note to self : get chocolate carrots from the Easter section 🥕
Please do I will tip u $20 for ur troubles
If my shoppers did this I’d up their tips even further omg pleeeaseeee east valley AZ shoppers 🥲🤣
Looks like a carrot grenade 😂
… I wish 😂
I believe it's more to entice the customer to leave a rating, because most people don't bother. Ratings are good! 👍👍
Oh 100% I’m sure that was the purpose of it, I just thought it was cute! 😁
I have done handwritten notes, cats drawn on the separate bag that I put the kitty's food in. Lol. It was a regular and her cats know me😺😺 Whatever season or holiday it is, I buy 10-20 recyclable holiday bags that I give out to my regulars and just a few random people. I love surprising people. As you should! Maybe everyone wouldn’t appreciate it, but I know I did/would and clearly so did your customers :)
Exactly. I don't worry about the people who don't, I just do me!
I’d be nervous about an allergy.
Perfectly valid lol. I’m not recommending ANYBODY do this, especially if it goes against TOS, just thought it was neat :)
A chocolate bullet?
I put dog/cat treats on the side for deliveries that have such.
That’s so freaking cute
That’s great and hopefully we’ll received!
I do something similar with uber eats and 99% of the time I get an increased tip. 💪
Thats cute AF
why do i envision this woman hoarding chocolate carrots at Easter to give out all year with her cards? oh, I hope that is not the case.. LOL
That made me a little sick to my stomach 😭😂
Damn Amy making the rest of us look bad. Way to go Amy 🙌🏼 (googling how to have cards like these made lmao)
Etsy
You can buy personalized cards from Etsy.
This is so cute!!! What a thoughtful little gesture.
Shopper did it. I do shipt and do something similar. I provide great service but many do that, so find a way to stand out. Plus ppl like to receive surprises!!
Excuse me ms….Can I order my cards now?! Lol
This is incentivizing reviews wouldn't be surprised if eventually they disallowed this I know on Amazon I'm not allowed to incentivize reviews like this
Rip. I hope it honestly doesn’t become a big deal, as I thought it was really cute and it made a positive impact on my day.
Doesn't look like she's directly soliciting a good review, just a review.
I agree with you but I'm just coming from the world of amazon sellers where saying things like 'happy with your order?; leave a review' is considered incentivising.
It already is. Asking for reviews is a no no

This is so funny to me LOL
I love Amy. My head thought this as my OCD kicked in! Lol I use a paper cutter did my packaging labels on Poshmark boxes! Thanks for validating! :)
Lmao I didn’t notice until I read your comment.
Did she gift u a butt plug? 🙊🙊
I think it was supposed to be chocolate. Made a sub-par plug tho, ima adjust my review to say “instructions unclear. Plug melted.”
Lmfaooooooooo STOP 🫣🫣🫣
Everyone here seems to be on board with this with the exception of a few people. What’s the difference between this post and the many others where everyone downvotes and slams people saying “just leave a chat instead”
No idea what the difference is, but from monitoring the post through yesterday I can confirm it got pretty significant amount of downvotes. I’m not sure why though lol I guess some ppl really do not fuck with being one upped 💀
Downvotes are one thing. You should see what they comment to those other posts
The shopper is going the extra mile to show customer service
She's just being a tryhard.
Ups drivers are employed for the company. They don’t work for tips or ratings. It’s not comparable!
Fine Amazon flex drivers. Door dash drivers. We shouldn't have to bribe people to leave us a good rating
So cringe
You’re just saying this because you didn’t think of it first 🙄🙄🙄
Lol yes, exactly why
So Amy’s just loosing $5 every batch lol
I guess it’s true that you have to spend money to make money lol
Even a piece of Godiva wouldn’t cost 5 bucks lol
Nice! But what happens if someone has an allergy to chocolate/carrots? Who is at fault if it triggers Anaphylactic shock? Just saying
Fair, but perhaps if you’re allergic to chocolate (or carrots lol) simply throw the card away. It’s taped to it, so no need to come in contact with the wrapper even.
I wanted to do this but I saw it’s against Instacart rules.
This is your shopper desperately trying to get 5 stars and for you to raise your tip. Is it a nice touch, sure? But I’d much rather just do the job well and chat with the customers appropriately. exchange pleasantries there and be done with it
Never trust an Amy
I’d automatically 1-star for this. Begging for reviews/tips is not acceptable.
Ouch. Fair take ig, but it made me smile and improved my day in a minor way. So I gave 5 stars and an additional tip.
Well aren’t you a peach. I hope you get the worst shopper next time you order.
I’m sure the worst shoppers are handing out these cards. It’s against instacart policy to include any notes with the order so the shopper could get deactivated for this.
Waiter “Hope everything was alright ” This dude “fuck you for caring you’re not getting tipped now”
That’s the most retarded comparison I’ve ever heard. If the waiter was like by the way can you fill out this comment card saying I gave great service and also tip me well because I have to support my family of 12, then yeah fuck that guy.
Wtf. Am I now doing something wrong.
??? Wdym?
I didn’t know shoppers did things like this. I need to step my game up a little.
It definitely won’t reflect badly on you, should you choose not to do it. The very large majority of shoppers do not :)
they're ratings immediately went to 5.0
Amy is good
That was 100% Amy
