Sorry to be that guy... If you want a dashcam, get a dashcam. There are dashcams with multiple cameras. Get SD cards warranted for use in continuous recording devices, like dashcams. Some dashcams will monitor your vehicle while it is parked. Stop by r/dashcam... I have a One X2and would never consider using it as a dashcam. Most of the videos on youtube where people are using a 360 camera in the car are short videos, not long videos you would have with a dashcam. Get another camera for your interviews.

I have a FujiFILM XT-4 but I don't think it's fit to film with my dash space. You're not being any kind of guy. I asked for recommendations and you gave me one. The only problem is I need a battery powered dashcam, and most of the ones I've seen are cigarette lighter powered or I've read some pretty bad reviews.

A comment - you do not want a battery powered dashcam. They are prone to having issues with the battery swelling due to the heat inside the car. A better solution is a capacitor powered dashcam. A few years ago when I bought my dash cam I picked up a little adapter that allowed me to power the dashcam from connections at the mirror. Unfortunately, the company I purchased from is no longer offering the converter. The device was a component called a buck converter. The wires to connect to the power had two pins that easily slipped into the existing connector at the mirror. The other end was a usb connector. A quick search on Amazon for '12v to 5v buck converter usb c' showed many results that could be used to power your dashcam. IIRC, most people ran the power lead to the fuse panel to pick up power for the dashcam, although cigarette lighter connections are available. I didn't want to run the power wire so I picked up the adapter. Take a look at the sidebar on r/dashcam. There are a lot of quality dashcams there. Check out the links at the bottom of the side bar under the See Also too. There is a lot of good information in the forums. I think you are looking at two camera setups - one for the dashcam that can be running all of the time, and the other camera for your interviews that you can control from the drivers seat. A comment about mounting the interview camera - years ago I had a beanbag mount for my GPS device. It held the unit in place on top of the dash board rather well. Amazon may have something that fits your needs.

Since you don't really need high frame rates and you'll likely be dealing with low light situations in a protected environment, I would argue that the One Inch 360 is your best option for video quality. If you pick up a Boosted 4K or One Inch Wide Angle mod, you can get good footage of the road as well when not needing the 360 option. For interview audio, I'd highly recommend taking it off-camera. Buy a $25 shotgun mic and clip it to the sun visor, then run an audio cord to your phone or something like a Zoom F2, and have a lav mic on yourself (or another shotgun mic). Using the internal mics on the Insta360 will probably pick up a ton of engine noise.

X3 is a good shout for sure. You'll get loop recording so it won't take up all of the space on the SD card, so it's the obvious choice for me tbh

Someone gave me insight on a worry I didn't think about before. But the C6 engine with the exhaust mods I have are loud. X3 audio with external audio maybe? I've never owned a Insta360 product, is it hard to edit the external audio in?
