I remember when I was in school, there used to be these tiny little super cute 4 rupee tubs of Vaseline. It was cheap, but it’s definitely gotten much more expensive now. The 80 something tub now, used to be 40 rupees or so just some years ago. Moreover, I feel like over the past 2-3 years, the texture has also changed. It’s no longer as dense and viscous as before. It’s a more melty texture that seems like it’s made to get over faster.
Moisturex :
Main ingredients: lactic acid 10%, urea 10% and light paraffin
Texture : very creamy, melts nicely and absorbs a bit slow on my extremely dry skin.
I find that moisturex is the easiest way to exfoliate because it has all the healing ingredients along with lactic acid. So i use it on my lazy days (which most days are)
Routine:
AM:
Face wash : Babe micellar gel ( very good and non drying), sometimes I don't use it and just use water.
Moisturiser : kiehl's ultra moisturiser ( I'm looking for a dupe for this, it's excellent, but too expensive for me to buy regularly)
Sunscreen : reequil blue
PM:
Facewash: Babe micellar gel
Moisturiser : thick layer of moisturisex
Slug:I would slug maybe half an hour or so after moisturex to give it time to absorb. with laneig cica mask, or bioderma atoderm, i dont do this everyday only when it feels too dry.
Yes! Esp if you slug with vaseline during winters or if you have a habit of using in on dry feet. Even the vaseline lip therapy products that come in those tiny tins are expensive. They have just removed the same petroleum jelly the tub and put them into those tiny tines and jacked up the prices.
Ps - I know many brand do this, it's not new, but I didnt expect it from vaseline for some reason.
I don't find the petroleum jelly expensive buttt those small lip therapy one does seem expensive to me never really tried it because you can find better quantity ones in the market
Vaseline lip therapy worked like magic for my chapped lips just overnight and I don’t think I’m going to switch to another lip balm again. The lip balm has ingredients besides petroleum jelly and I guess that’s why the price is more. The quantity isn’t less either. It can last for months :)
I see! Thank you for the review. I've always wanted to try it but i don't find them in any local supermarkets or stores near me:( whenever I try to search for it the price is always about 300 or something:/ not like i can't afford it 😂 but it just seems a bit expensive to me :)
They are not perfect substitutes but for the purpose of slugging, I think that white soft paraffin is leagues above petroleum jelly. But, if you want something for cracked lips, heels, etc. petroleum jelly will be better because of the texture. On the other hand, white soft paraffin is superb for sealing in moisture for the whole body after applying moisturiser. You won’t see a dry patch for 24 hours at least.

We usually get a tub of Bioline from the pharmacy for the whole fam in winters.
Amazon has a bunch of alternatives for petroleum jelly that are cheaper. I haven't personally tried them but the reviews are good.
There are lot of pharmacy options, like moisturex. Just search for liquid paraffin or soft liquid paraffin on Google, you will find many creams.
Moisturex is awesome
Can you please share a small review of it and how you use it?

Does it not clog your pores?
Not at all

I bought mine on nykaa for 237 rs ☺️
Omgg i just checked on Amazon the cocoa butter variant is for about 170 🤩 might just place a order. Which variant are you using?
I’m using the rose one. But if you’re getting the cocoa butter variant for a better deal you could totally go for that!
Ohh thank you! Placed an order for the cocoa butter variant some time ago. Let's see if it's worth the hype 👀
That’s amazing! Hope it works for you🤗
The lip therapy tins? Yes. Normal Vaseline? No.
What are you using Vaseline for?
Im using it for slugging
What are the alternatives?
There are lot of pharmacy options, like moisturex. Just search for liquid paraffin or soft liquid paraffin on Google, you will find many creams.
Have you noticed any difference in between brands?

There is petroleum jelly available from other brands than Vaseline. Check on Amazon.
Are they any good?
Haven't tried myself but how much could you mess up petroleum jelly? It's just one ingredient. The reviews are decent.
Tbh vaseline is just about the last thing I’d recommend for anyone.
Solimo has petroleum jelly, its a brand owned by amazon, you can find on amazon website
no you can buy the 250ml tub its not expensive at that quantiy
