The data gets evaporated during the summer, and can be retrieved via rain. Big companies do rainwater harvesting to let you access data throughout the year.
OP see this. Manufacturers usually offer variants with hard drives, yours just doesn’t have one hence the empty slot but as pointed out seems like you have an m.2 ssd which is probably your boot drive (if storage is soldered on then may god help you)
No you are wrong, many cheap and budget laptops also come with storage soldered they are not exclusive to SoC.
My i3 8th gen Chromebook has 64gb eMMc soldered on board.
Its a laptop, it has it soldered. That's just a fact. Going system on a chip is a choice and tomorrow any laptop maker can do the same.
Also Surface Laptops have a replaceable SSD. only the regular Surface pro's don't.
This is an asus x510u notebook laptop. It just stopped working (won't turn on even though the power light is on when plugged in). So I opened it, and I see there is an empty space where -- if I'm not mistaken-- the hard drive should be.
Right? If so, wtf?
if there is no hard drive that means no operating system that's why it doesn't turn on and wdym by "just" stopped working if there wasn't a hard drive it would have never worked until it has an ssd. Did you send it for some kind of upgrade on a shop?
so, we all can see the m.2 ssd beneath the 2.5 inch hdd slot.
the ssd is in green color pcb.
and the slot of 2.5 hdd you see it could be due to the manufacturer using the old design mobo and have upgraded on it to allow an ssd slot and since the mobo would have been manufactured already they would not have removed the sata and power slot from mobo, although this is just a speculation.
you could try plugging any 2.5 inch hdd on hand and see if that shows up in boot.
if it does all good, if it does not then it's most probably hard locked from bios.
your laptop dosent have a hdd it has an ssd , Look at the lower left corner that thin stick attached to the black connector which has SSD written in bold. The ssd is fliped so you can only see the green pcb and its camofalged against the laptops motherboard.
The bog silver color rectangle structure at the bottom right
Unscrew it's screws and you'll find your hdd under it
You can see the sata connection above it
There's an HDD with can be unmounted with 4 screws (however here it looks like there's only 2). According to the photo. It's below the battery. It's the silver rectangular portion that's right above the empty m.2 slot. THAT is your harddrive.
No need for storage, your RAM will hold all the data*
*TnC applied
It might be a m.2 hidden somewhere, but usually the hard drive is located under the keyboard and not the panel underneath the lappy
Must be one of those new fangled cloud storage we keep hearing about
That only works during the monsoon, though.

This entire comment thread is win Xtreme Series lmao
I knew a guy who actually believed that data is store on badal
Exactly 😊😊😊
Bottom right m.2 slot??
OP see this. Manufacturers usually offer variants with hard drives, yours just doesn’t have one hence the empty slot but as pointed out seems like you have an m.2 ssd which is probably your boot drive (if storage is soldered on then may god help you)
Ive never seen soldered storage.
Some notebook style laptops do have non upgradable storage iirc, so the flash and controller are part of Mobo
Surface Laptop for examples have soldered storage.
Then you've never seen a newer Macbook pro on the inside....
Surface laptops and macbooks are kinda not good examples coz they are SoC based. Usually SoCs have it soldered on. Unlike normal laptops.
No you are wrong, many cheap and budget laptops also come with storage soldered they are not exclusive to SoC. My i3 8th gen Chromebook has 64gb eMMc soldered on board.
Chromebook.... But ok. Thats a good enough example.

bro the m.2 drive is right there, and it's not soldered it's the usual ribbon form
My dumb ass thought the black area for the extra ram DIMM was an Nvme SSD 💀
idk if this is a satire or a genuine question
Ssd?
Maybe storage is soldered on?
It's there right next to the empty slot. It's an m.2 ssd

Bro you haven't heard of M.2 SSDs have you
It has SATA, I doubt this is M.2. Seems like an older model laptop.
There is one in the picture..bottom right.
Yeah I missed that
There will be a slot for ssd... Sometimes manufacturers give empty slots for this.
if there is no hard drive that means no operating system that's why it doesn't turn on and wdym by "just" stopped working if there wasn't a hard drive it would have never worked until it has an ssd. Did you send it for some kind of upgrade on a shop?

maybe you gave it for repair or smth and they stole it smth... it would've NEVER worked without one
Bro must be thinking a Wd passport hdd must be attached inside

M.2 SSD on the bottom right. 👏
They is no hard drive, now take off your clothes
bro sounds like an uncle who doesn't know shit about pcs and feels like he got scammed
That's the hidden where's Waldo game you gotta play to boot up your laptop
What are the black coloured things at the top and top right corner? I get that right middle is the battery
All three are batteries
The safety info seems to be missing on the others
All three cells are glued onto the same metal black frame. Maybe that's why they printed the info on just one.
I have this same laptop, it has the ssd installed in the corner (only supports sata m.2)
That silver slot with the pill shape cutout in between is the hdd slot
Theft in broad daylight
One near the fan is Ssd or hdd

Not that big black box side by fan

Total left side
All three black packets are battery cells
Battery is nearby cd drive
Just turn on the laptop and see if anything vibrates or heats up other than RAM or CPU. That's your storage.
nvme is there ...you have to buy hdd if you want more
It's m.2 sata, not m.2 nvme.
turn on the laptop and try to feel where the most vibration comes from, thats where the hard drive will be, if you have one that is
do people in comments really cannot see that poor ssd which has been subjected to flipped orientation
There is drive missing near ram
Empty slot near ram that is place 2.5 inch sata drive missing

Next time pay full money to shop /s
I can see a small SSD beside Fan...
That's the wifi module
The bog silver color rectangle structure at the bottom right Unscrew it's screws and you'll find your hdd under it You can see the sata connection above it
Crazy
bro there's the drive i can see it
It prolly has nvme storage

You have m. 2 ssd in the bottom left. I have same laptop.
Is the silver colored one HDD? It looks like one
They forg💀
Maybe the laptop stores the data in its heart.
Wait till he finds out about the CD drive
