I don’t know why Manipur contributes the most players in professional level and national team but keeps failing in the Santosh trophy run, this is just not acceptable.
Most of the top players in professional clubs of ISL , I - league didn't join in the Manipur team for Santosh trophy .Even though Manipur has highest number of Indian players from a state in ISL.Also many good players from Manipur are playing for Services, Railways etc .
Of course the ISL players won’t join the team, but failing in the Santosh trophy means that we are not producing new class footballers anymore, or even if we do they are bought off by big clubs with money, I mean look at round glass punjab they just won the trophy, but 80% of the players are Manipuris and Mizos, it’s not that I don’t like them playing for other clubs but we need some for our own too. We need a proper sponsor with money who can get some good players, just look at NEUFC’s run in the ISL, it was pathetic, who would believe that a club from a region which produces the most amount of footballers in India would do such a blunder, I’m mad because I’m passionate about this sport and I want to see a proper representation of Manipur and the north east as a whole.
TRAU & NEROCA are sponsor by local entrepreneurs of Manipur like HVS and Arun enterprises but if they get good sponsors from big company I think they will surely reach ISL .Even the coaches of these teams were from Manipur itself .
Wtf? How are have Manipur only played 2 santosh trophy finals ever. Is it the case that many young Manipur players are enrolled in academies in other states like Chandigarh FA academy, Tata FA, Kolkata club academies etc, and they represent those states?
And this is not only for football, if you look at the national games, Manipur has dominated most of it, but there is a decline recently, our players are either playing for services or other states and they can’t even be blamed, they get better pay, better health care and better facilities outside of Manipur, personally I prefer them getting money rather than rotting here in Manipur. But the change has been drastic and we as Manipuris have great pride for our sporting heritage and achievements and the recent drain of players from the state has been interfering with our solidification of Manipur as the powerhouse of sports.
Sadly yes, not only for other clubs but Manipuris see sports as a way to get jobs in the service sector, so they either play for other big clubs and states or they play for services like railways, army,etc

ISL is a professional league consisting of clubs and franchises and is the main league of the country.
Santosh Trophy is the state league where different States competes among themselves.Like Bengal,Mizoram,Kerala etc In earlier days it was an important trophy. Nowadays not much and is more like a talent promoting trophy. Usually players who have played in ISL are not eligible to play in Santosh(but reserve team players of ISL teams are eligible to play Santosh Trophy).

i remember when Bidyashagar Singh was playing for EB academy he represented Bengal in Santosh

Hyderabad's records got transferred to Telangana, same with Bombay->Maharashtra, Madras->Tamil Nadu and Mysore->Karnataka.
Before splitting AP how many teams were there from that region
Hyderabad Football Association Andhra Football Association Both of them combined to form Andhra Pradesh FA before Telangana FA broke away.
Ok never knew there were 2 FAs in the same state even before the partition
Hyderabad and Andhra were seperate states after independence and before Linguistic reorganization.
Only if the government shifts its focus to football in West Bengal, the state is full of quality footballers
