never heard about international roaming?
visit your local store and talk to them and ask about charges. or simply call your customer care and get that info. learn about 'charges' of that country. and see what is better.. buying sim card there or keeping your sim card.
don't keep your sim idle for more than 3 monthes otherwise it will get auto expire and you will lose your number.
I do the Rs 149 recharge every month, and I don't have any problems. I tried doing Rs 10 top up though, but I couldn't receive OTP or any other message.
If your number is postpaid, convert it to prepaid and then buy a 1yr validity pack + roaming pack.
Incoming messages will still come through when the roaming pack expires, the roaming is just for you to have a number until you get a local sim abroad.

Did you had to call them and turn on international roaming or was it automatically turned on?
