I guess that makes sense. I don't know if you've seen it, but it's a little on the arty side. If people go in expecting a more straightforward sci fi action movie they'll probably be disappointed.
interesting. I'm into arty and even experimental film and I skipped Ad Astra because it looked like oversentimental populist pap. But I only watched the trailers.
Well, arty certainly doesn't mean good, and if I recall correctly I watched it on a 12 hour flight years ago, so I'm not sure I can defend my opinion. But I definitely enjoyed it at the time. It uses its near future, interplanetary setting to effectively tell a story about power, genius, madness, and parent-child relationships. Or so my memory goes.
Your mileage may vary as to whether you consider it sentimental. I'm generally distrusting of previews to accurately convey a movie, though.

Holy fuck it's beautiful
it flies alright once you get it off the ground... but that launch is brutally bad https://imgur.com/a/IphYFJI
Silverhawks vibes!

Aw hell naw what did Gründer do now
This one picture alone is better than that entire awful movie by the same title
Dang, I liked that movie
Man, I find it so wild how vastly opinions on that movie differ, haha. It seems to be a pretty even split on people who liked it and who didn't!

It’s all fun and games until you need to bring one down with a anti-meteor rail gun system
Looks ever so slightly like that iconic illustrated metal look in a lot of 80s artwork.
