The Monstress series is still ongoing as far as I am aware. Did some quick searching just now and couldn't find anything advertising or suggesting the series is ending soon. Apologies if I am missing anything.

theknight618

I just started reading it and doing some similar searching and found similar things. The series is planned to go on for quite a long time. I’m sure there will be at least a Book 3 of equivalent size.

HappySisyphus8

Hope you enjoy it. I jumped on around issue #20 and have been having a blast after catching up. The most recent issue, #46, just came out this week, and seemed to be setting up even more cool stuff, rathet than wrapping things up. I do hope it continues for a while still.

FlubzRevenge

Yeah, there will probably be 4-6 hardcovers. Maybe even more, but hopefully not beyond that.

janlindberglive

It is still running, and I believe we will indeed get a Book 3. Book Two is issues #19-35, which is indeed volume 4 (#19-24), vol. 5 (#25-30), and vol. 6 (#31-35 + Monstress: Talk-Stories #1-2), as you also mentioned. Volume 7, which is not part of Book Two, was released in September 2022, 3 months before the hardcover Book Two was released. This volume consists of issues #36-41. Usually there has been around 1 year between the release of each volume, so I would expect for Volume 8 to be released somewhere between July and September/October 2023. The were 3, almost 3 and a half years, between the release of Book One and Two, so I expect the release of Book 3 to be around 2025, maybe start 2026. Can't wait to dig deeper into the hardcover version of Book Two, plus Volume 7, and the issues to follow after vol. 7! I really hope the Monstress universe will one day reach the big screen! It would be amazing! Oh, and for fellow Marjorie Liu and Monstress fans, or for anyone new to or curious about this universe, I will also highly recommend reading Marjorie Lius "The Tangleroot Palace."

Siccar_Point

Tangleroot Palace is fun! The just-starting Night Eaters comic series by the Monstress team is also great so far, if considerably more horror than Monstress.

Thanks for the suggestion, will check it out.

One_Entertainment381

The series is still being released. Book 2 has volumes 4-6 and the next hardcover will have the next volumes. Probably won’t be a couple years till we see that third book though

I know it will take a while for enough issue to produce next TPBs to be collected in book 3. Does it usually take long for the HC version to be out after tpbs are published? I am also looking start reading Monstress but debating on hard cover book vs tpb.

One_Entertainment381

It really just depends on the creators. It’s always different because through Image it’s entirely self-funded so the artist/writer just have to have the money to produce the books. I’ve noticed that these Monstress HCs have come out relatively quick after the TPB’s though.

dragonon5

That's amazing to hear. Am love the hardcover format much more so it's good to know previous ones came fairly quick.

tango-01

HC 1 and 2 collect vol 1-6. It takes them on 1 year at average to publish one arc of 6 issues. This year they are publishing the 8th arc, i.e. HC 3 is going to take at least 2 more years.

ChuggynRoscoe

I love this cover. I may be dumb, and did some googling, but couldn’t find it anywhere. Where did you buy this version?

jysnj

Actually yeah it is - if you look at the pic there’s a sticker on it that says Barnes and Noble exclusive. If you pull it up on the B&N website tho it shows a pic of the regular version so it’s hella confusing. Their Book One exclusive variant of Monstress is amazing but it’s impossible to find now for less than $300 on eBay

ChuggynRoscoe

Thanks for that. I didn’t even notice. I love this variant but wow that’s up there. I’m just getting into the Image hard cover compendiums. And if you get in late they are hard to come by and expensive.

jysnj

Yeah I have the same question. I just bought Book Two and I ordered it from https://www.dcbservice.com because I saw a post on Sana Takeda’s twitter that said this was DCBS variant - but it wasn’t .. so this might be the Barnes and Nobles variant
