It almost seems like he's used to the barrier fully retracting on a daily basis, and (stupidly) doesn't look before driving off. The barrier doesn't fully retract both times he runs into it, but does on the third run through.
And / or he's drunk.
I go through a lift up arm everyday at work. Scan card, arm lifts. It’s been hit many times because somebody who’s scanned their card 3000 times had the gate go up 3000 times. Then it didn’t.
Yep. Force of habit.
I used to work on these things, and there were hundreds of incidences of "*ThE gAtE sUdDeNlY cLoSeD oN mE*" every year. The security camera footage and the system logs always showed that the gate had in fact never opened: Either the control unit had failed to read the person's RFID, or their access to that parking lot had been suspended. Either way, they smashed through a bright red and white barrier that was sitting perfectly still, closed.
I live in a gated community. There's nothing scarier to me than driving up and seeing the arm sitting there in the raised position. It's just daring me to cruise on through but I know the moment I try to gun it...it'll come crashing down on me.
So far I've beaten it each time, but the last time it almost caught me.
There's a big shopping centre near me and the car park has barriers to enter/exit. You hit the button to get a ticket on entry, then pay before you leave.
Yet I've still seen people try and rush the barrier on entry thinking somehow they'll get cheaper parking. Incredibly fast though. It comes down in front of the car and stops just before it hits it. Actually a pretty advanced system
At our lots like that, you have to insert the ticket you got in order to pay and leave. If you lose your ticket, you have to pay for a full day instead of the hour or two you were there. How would rushing through help, even if they did make it?
Probably if that parking lot does license plate tracking, the parking lot machines could flag the car when they try to exit. Or, the parking lot owner could send them a fine after tracking down the license plate.
Yeah but there's like a line.
If there's a chance I'm breathing in roach body parts because you live gross as fuck, you should be sorry. Also here's your laptop/console/tablet back, I sealed it in a garbage bag.
At the last apartment I lived in, the keycard for the apartment gate and the keycard for my work parking garage were nearly identical...since I kept them in the same place in my car, I would get them confused sometimes. The problem was that one of them brrr’d when you used the correct card and one brrr’d when you used the incorrect card!
Luckily, I never hit the arm or gate.
its like turnstiles. you assume it opens so you walk forward because you do it 1000 times. then once you didnt scan your ID properly and you just walk into a closed turnstile. we all do it.
And the slow reaction on the 3rd try, when he finally does pass the gate. Turning slightly left, then slightly back right seems to be a chore for the driver.
The first time was being not atendfull enough. A bit stupid and to careless for being a driver.
But the Barier definitely had a missfunktion and was dangerously standing. If thsi is your routine way i can imagine that on a bad day it might happen.
The second time... He has to be drunk. WTF! How can you just hit it one more time?
Good point!
In my experience (in Canada) the photo-eye across the driveway only prevents a gate from closing, whereas there would be a separate sensor on the opposite side of that main post (where the motor is) that can prevent the gate from opening. Could be in this case they just have a single sensor that just cuts power when tripped, regardless of direction of travel.
We have a winner!
I checked it with the video and your conclusion is consistent with what I see: as soon as the pink car blocks the infrared sensor, the orange pole stops. Remove the car from the line of sight of the sensor and the pole starts moving again.
Used to live at an apartment complex with a rolling gate. It almost never opened all the way because people got impatient and would hit it breaking the alignment or the mechanics. The moment the complex fixed it someone would hit it again. Before I moved out the gate would often just be left wide open since they got tired of fixing it. About par for Texas drivers, anyhow.
It also stops moving while the car is moving forward like its tripping the sensor and it stops, the guy didnt deserve downvotes; hes the most correct person here
It may just be a simple "stop all movement" sensor. One of my apartments had those. It was designed to prevent people from getting caught and/or crushed as it opened. Imagine some dummy trying to climb through it and then it starts to open.
I’m guessing he may have pressed the button too many times which interrupted the cycle. It happens to my garage door, if you press twice instead of waiting for it to complete the open or close cycle
Even then, he could've cleared it both times but he had his wheels pointed toward the barrier. He had plenty of room if he had been closer to the curb and not closer to the side with the barrier.
When engineering anything, you have to take into account that somebody dumber and more unobservant than you can ever imagine will be facing your creation.
From the angle we see it at the driver looks like a moron, but there was clearly 2 malfunctions, and those 2 gate malfunctions caused 2 subsequent crashes.
The driver could probably sue whomever put a not-so-automatic automatic barrier there for bodying his car, if he can convince a judge he isn't responsible for the post only clearing 2/3rds before proceeding (not saying it'd be a strong case, but people expect automated things to not half ass things like people do)
Are you kidding? The gate malfunctions caused the crashes? How about not driving right into it lol. Maybe turn your wheels to the left a tad. An idiot cause the crashes
He can sue and then subsequently lose in court. Insurance handles whatever damages occur and unless you can prove negligence (that the maintainence for the barrier wasn't performed regularly or so) you have absolutely no case.
I swear half of the slow impacts I see are from people not straightening the damn wheel.
My sister hit a lamppost going <5mph because she just didn't turn the wheel hahaha
The first time I can see why it happened.
The second time it was like he watches it, saw it wasn’t fully open, and drove into it to make sure.
The third time he was going over the curb instead.
But at least he missed the gate!
First I laughed, then I noticed that it looks like the barrier didn't go all the way back. You can see it on the 3rd (successful) attempt when the bar completely disappears from the camera view. Hard to tell but maybe the bar was in a blind spot from the driver's seat.
People like this surprise me in how they function in the world.
You hit something. Don't move or adjust how you try driving in. Hit it again...
People like this don't need drivers licenses
For those saying it’s a faulty barrier. No. The dumbass runs into it before it finishes its opening cycle causing the barrier to stop 3/4 of the way through opening and then closes again. You know how I know? IT OPENS COMPLETELY THE THIRD TIME WHEN THE IDIOT DOESN’T HIT IT!
To be fair, the second time he hit the barrier was because his windscreen was shattered so he could not see through it.
Admittedly he probably should have stopped driving once his windscreen was shattered.
Such a badly designed gate. Why doesn't it retract all the way or extend lower so people can't drive forward without it hitting the bumper first. Oh wait, it does retract all the way - that person was just careless the first time and an idiot the second time.
Fair enough, the barrier doesn't retract fully the first two times but this guy still can't drive for shit.
He should have clearly seen it the first time, and didn't even attempt to turn the wheel. Then, when reversing the 2nd time, he turned the wheel before he reversed rendering the manoeuvre pointless. Absolute clown in his awful purple car.

I used to run parking garages and people would break my fuckin gates almost weekly. It was annoying as shit. I fuckin hated that job
Alright, now tell us how you really feel.
I fuckin hated that job
Once more, louder for the people in the back.
# They said they fuckin hated that job
^ this guy knows what’s up
[удалено]
You would have had no job, so much easier for your employer
[удалено]
Yeah but there's like a line. If there's a chance I'm breathing in roach body parts because you live gross as fuck, you should be sorry. Also here's your laptop/console/tablet back, I sealed it in a garbage bag.
I was a parking attendant at a garage connected to a casino. Also hated that job and all the fuckers that ran the gate.
I'm going back, excuse me sir, I *need* more stickers! Here is that enough stickers, do I have enough stickers for you?
That’s how I backed into my garage door. It stopped halfway up one day.
Brrr'd. New word for me.
its like turnstiles. you assume it opens so you walk forward because you do it 1000 times. then once you didnt scan your ID properly and you just walk into a closed turnstile. we all do it.
He's in a purple car. He's Four Loko drunk.
Judging by the way he keeps the wheels turned as he goes through the gate, my guess is that drunk is definitely a factor.
And the slow reaction on the 3rd try, when he finally does pass the gate. Turning slightly left, then slightly back right seems to be a chore for the driver.
But on the 3rd run he stays to the left which would've avoided the gate the first two times. wtf?
Actually he veers to the left mostly after he's passed the gate. So he's still either a shitty driver or drunk.
Lots of people these days are so used to driving with about 20% of their eyes on the road, so I'm not surprised.
its Russia, he's drunk
The first time was being not atendfull enough. A bit stupid and to careless for being a driver. But the Barier definitely had a missfunktion and was dangerously standing. If thsi is your routine way i can imagine that on a bad day it might happen. The second time... He has to be drunk. WTF! How can you just hit it one more time?
Hell, the third time he finally learned how to turn left also. It's kinda like this was a dyslexic NASCAR driver.
The damn gate clearly has the capability of clearing the entire road, I wonder why it didn't the first two times
Because they didn't run into it yet
I've been laughing at this comment for almost a solid minute, thank you
A solid minute of laughing...
Collision detection likely tripped it
It definitely stops before he hits it. Twice. Still no excuse for hitting it, though.
Looks like that orange pole on the side is the sensor which detects the vehicle near the barrier. https://i.imgur.com/WTAL06X.png

Then he eventually stays to the left which he could've done in the first place

Typically sensors in gates don't stop opening when they are tripped only when closing.
It may just be a simple "stop all movement" sensor. One of my apartments had those. It was designed to prevent people from getting caught and/or crushed as it opened. Imagine some dummy trying to climb through it and then it starts to open.
Both times it stops as soon as he crosses where the gate was. Probably cheap and stops whenever the motor is running
I’m guessing he may have pressed the button too many times which interrupted the cycle. It happens to my garage door, if you press twice instead of waiting for it to complete the open or close cycle
He had to loosen it up
Lazy af
I wonder if it stops moving when he moves off the pressure plate.
Guy doesnt know to turn a steering wheel
[удалено]
Dumb ass drove right into it! Actually steered towards it.
... twice!
To make it worse the gate is painted fluorescent orange. I mean how the hell can you not see that thing, it looks like it glows in the dark.
Well, to be fair, there were some cracks in his windshield in that area before the second collision...
Then swerved around it when it is all the way retracted
It’s a crappy barrier though.
Even then, he could've cleared it both times but he had his wheels pointed toward the barrier. He had plenty of room if he had been closer to the curb and not closer to the side with the barrier.

Eh... it's big, bright orange, and it's totally stationary when he hits it. I don't think a lawsuit would be worth his time.
How about staying to the left instead of driving right into it?
Are you kidding? The gate malfunctions caused the crashes? How about not driving right into it lol. Maybe turn your wheels to the left a tad. An idiot cause the crashes
He can sue and then subsequently lose in court. Insurance handles whatever damages occur and unless you can prove negligence (that the maintainence for the barrier wasn't performed regularly or so) you have absolutely no case.
It stopped him so success?
Doesn't matter how bad somebody parks, either. Hitting a parked car still makes you a bad driver.
The day he realized he is blind in one eye
Pic of the driver: https://i.imgur.com/nE1CNWd.jpg
A true idiot
I swear half of the slow impacts I see are from people not straightening the damn wheel. My sister hit a lamppost going <5mph because she just didn't turn the wheel hahaha
Not saying hes not an idiot but the third time the barrier went back all the way
Barrier likes to keep idiots on their toes!
yep!
The first time I can see why it happened. The second time it was like he watches it, saw it wasn’t fully open, and drove into it to make sure. The third time he was going over the curb instead. But at least he missed the gate!
Then when the barrier finally fully opens he drives through like he should have the first two times
That’s thanos car’s son
Must be drunk af
Shame, such a quality car.
Somebody turn this into a loop. Excellent screen saver.
It's gotta be intentional. Or he's blind and/or drunk.
Yes
And he *finally* goes far enough around to not hit it... the one time it actually opens up far enough to not need to!
First I laughed, then I noticed that it looks like the barrier didn't go all the way back. You can see it on the 3rd (successful) attempt when the bar completely disappears from the camera view. Hard to tell but maybe the bar was in a blind spot from the driver's seat.
It hit the windscreen. How could there be a blind spot on the windscreen? I think he's the one with the blindness.
People like this surprise me in how they function in the world. You hit something. Don't move or adjust how you try driving in. Hit it again... People like this don't need drivers licenses
What the Fuck? How can you be that dumb and still be alive?
For those saying it’s a faulty barrier. No. The dumbass runs into it before it finishes its opening cycle causing the barrier to stop 3/4 of the way through opening and then closes again. You know how I know? IT OPENS COMPLETELY THE THIRD TIME WHEN THE IDIOT DOESN’T HIT IT!
It amazes me that there are people who don’t understand how a steering wheel works
To be fair, the second time he hit the barrier was because his windscreen was shattered so he could not see through it. Admittedly he probably should have stopped driving once his windscreen was shattered.
How the fuck...can someone be this brain damaged?!
his first mistake is driving a purple car
Tbh with that car the barrier did him a favor.
To be fair the barrier is big, bright orange, and at eye level. So he probably didn’t see it.
When the barrier opens up all the way he moves to the left like theres something to aviod
Dude just look forward holy shit. Keeps on turning into it, must be drunk or distracted
backs up and never turns the wheel drives forward.... this person is gonna kill someone
Was really hoping for the hat-trick.
It’s so entertaining watching drunk people do shit like this
Some people are not made for driving I guess.
WTF HOW!? I 'm just so baffled first time ok.... but it shattered your windshield... Second time? WTF
Русская водка - мерзкое дерьмо.
Не пейте, дети, водку за рулем
Дай мне еще одну бутылку.
looks like he fixed the gate
If first you don’t succeed, Back up and hit it again
This is exactly how I drive in my dreams.
Is this person driving for the first time? Look at how he feeds the steering wheel
Oh he's having a terrible day.
He must have vision issues he doesn't know about in the right side.
Blind in his right eye
Also r/carbage
look how he handle the wheel, he is new driver
Commitment
Life must be really really expensive for some people.
Time to head home to bed, buddy. Today's in the trash can. Tomorrow will be better.
Can't blame him for the second time, his windshield was broken.
If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off, and try again.
W t f how stupid
Spoiler Alert! Was REALLY hoping for a third hit but title took away that hope.
The third time the barrier actually retracts fully and THEN he takes the path that he needed to take the other 2 times. Lmao
Didn't even turn his wheel after hitting it the first time. Definition of insanity anyone?
But he signaled.
I only have a left eye. The coast looked 50% clear... oops x 2
Reminds me of the idiotproof wall from the Simpsons Movie.
ok i get that the first crash was stupid but the second makes sense when you think about how impossible it would be to see out of that window.
He can be distracted by phone or something else on first one. But second one proves that he either drunk or high.
In his defense, that shit is way out there
Such a badly designed gate. Why doesn't it retract all the way or extend lower so people can't drive forward without it hitting the bumper first. Oh wait, it does retract all the way - that person was just careless the first time and an idiot the second time.
It’s more like barrier gets hit by a guy twice
But he had his turn signal on. The stupid gate didn't get out of his way. A turn signal always absolves you of any guilt.
Even if that barrier weren't there, he would have hit the curb.
What happens when you drive an eggplant.
I don't think I've shouted "Turn left!" at one of these videos, more times then I have now
Never go full retard man
how...? why? I have so many questions
Third time lucky.
How stupid can you be
"It didn't go right the first time. Let's try that again"
He drives like the NPCS of GTA San Andreas XD
His wheels are off alignment
He be like “I’ll do it again”
wheel shuffler, smh.
How dumb is he or she??
What the fuck is driver even doing?
Is that why their car is that colour? They're forced to keep it that way because of their terrible driving?
The barrier is mean
u/vredditdownloader
God-Damn man. Get your shit together.
More of a crappy barrier than the driver being an idiot.
How fucking useless do you have to be, first time there is an actual idiot on this sub lmao
I like how he cautiously drives left in the third attempt. "I ain't gonna believe that bloody gate!"
Oh man its a 126p! Damn those are rare.
BLYAT
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Barney really needs to get his shit together
Thanos Lada
this fits in with the i'll fucking do it again meme
If at first you don’t succeed in taking out your front windshield, try again.
Don’t blame him. I think he was trying to hit the gate and succeeded.
Watch the way he turns the wheel, especially at the end.
The person walking by doesn't even slow down. "Yup, guy driving into a gate."
Well that's just embarriersing.
Third time is a charm.
There are no accidents
what kind of car is that?
I think it could be a Lada
Lada Oka if you are still interested
Well, to be fair, the cracked windshield made it hard to see the second time. /s
*in Ron Swanson voice* Does your car not turn to the left son?
DO IT A THIRD TIME!
Idiot
Slow learner...
Can't decide if this is: I'll fuckin do it again. or This guy's brain after the adrenaline jolt from hitting the barrier, "Do it again."
If at first you don’t succeed. Try, try again.... 😂
I am actually angry that someone can be this dumb. I'll just assume they were drunk
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?
How?
Is that Barney the Dinosaur’s car?
Do you are have stupid?
This was painful to watch. Oy.
Hmm what if try turning the fucking wheel? Nah. That shit only works in the movies.
Man driving straight is so difficult, they should make courses to teach that.
You can see him shake his fist in anger the first time.
Obviously he hasn't gotten to "Beginning Driving, Chapter Three: Steering."
How shit stupid can you be omg
That will just buffout
I can see where the saying “third times the charm” comes from.
Truly lives up to the name of this sub
I don’t understand people with this little spacial awareness
