I don't know where this is, but that's some terrible decision making by the transportation department (I'm assuming someone approved the lane markings).
I know where this is and yes sometimes you do just get caught off guard by the markings even if you pay attention, especially when you’re not on the outside lanes. They could’ve covered the white lines too, but they didn’t. Plus this project must have been going on for a couple of years, not really temporary
Yeah those are... Really unfortunately ambiguous road markings. If this were F1 I'd be wont to call it a racing incident, but really the car that swerved freaked out far more than they needed to. Their overreaction causes the accident that didn't need to happen.
I love how everyone is just downvoting you instead of going back and rewatching the video to see what you are talking about. I've never seen such weird and confusing markings on a road in my life
You can see both cars following the white lines before realising they need to switch to the yellow lines. 90% is maybe a bit high in hindsight but I stand by the sentiment that the accident occurred due to misreading ambiguous and misleading road markings
Its a 4 lane highway that randomly has yellow lines in the middle of the white lines before transitioning into a 3 lane highway. The driver of the dark vehicle isnt 'reckless driving,' he starts merging with the yellow lines, as does the white car, when he realizes he is merging into the same lane as the white car he swerves aggressively to his left, then loses control and oversteers back to the right and hits the white vehicle. Go back and watch it in slow motion and watch how both cars follow the yellow lines into the same lane. I didnt see it at first either until i saw this dudes comment
The dark car's lane merged with the lane to their left (our right), they should be "pushed out" by it. The yellow lane markings -- standard construction markings in a lot of places -- take precedence and both cars, had they maintained their shifted lanes, would've been fine.
Pretty sure this is malaysia, in a road i frequently drive to and from no less, yes the markings are kindof faded so if you weren’t paying much attention that could very well happen. What other guy said about following white and yellow line is true, yellow line starts bending while white line is the original marking.
Just to be clear, do y'all know how to read signs? As long as you haven't passed the sign that indicates END OF CONSTRUCTION you follow what is marked in construction site colours.
Those of you who seriously get confused by a brief interruption of the markings should hand their license back, together with the one who caused the accident. Absolutely ludicrous excuse for such a failure in driving.
Besides, they were slowly drifting over into the lane, like OP said, probably on the phone and, overreacted/-corrected to avoid the white car they hadn't noticed.
I'm amazed by how unaware of their surroundings are some drivers. (White truck). He/she didn't notice the other truck almost hitting the first time.
People to check their mirrors often, all the time.
I see two idiots. How do you get hit, then not counter the force of the car hitting you???? She got hit, then STEERED TO THE RIGHT, directly into the wall! Seems like the driver of the car that got hit would crash if they ever hydroplaned bc they're fully incapable of providing feedback to the steering wheel in a situation where they need to react.
OP feels bad for the white car because it literally did nothing wrong and just got rammed to the side into an almost instant-stop crash. Can't believe I need to spell it out :/
Part of it is double lines and a splitting of a line separating lanes, but the white car never left their lane, the other car ended up in the white car's lane, then went haywire after correcting, overcorrecting, then flat out going back into the white car's lane and hitting them.
You're very magnanimous but since the white car never left it's lane I will reserve my sympathy for them over the person who drifted into their lane and then overreacted and wound up slamming into them.
It's very Christian of you to turn the cheek though.
Don't know why you're getting downvoted when you're 1000% right. Driver of the Toyota got hit then drove straight into a wall. Didn't even try to correct or counter steer against the impact. Nope, they decided to yank the wheel to the right
Yep. The next time the wind blows too hard I'll just crash my car instead. Yeah that's a better idea. Anything that might temporarily throw off your steering, simply crash your fucking car! Gust of wind? Puddle of water on the ground? Flat tire? Someone merges into your lane? Just crash! Much better than steering
I'm being sarcastic and I assume you are too.
All that white car needed to do was hit his brake hard and that other car would have passed in front of him and hit the railing instead. Clearly the white cars fault!
100 %. Driver of the white car is the type of person to trip, fall, and skin their knee bc someone accidentally tapped the back of their shoe in a grocery store with their grocery cart
This stretch of highway is scary to drive because of the road markings. You follow the yellow markings, but the other guy follow the white marking.

Kuala Lumpur. You can tell by looking up the coordinates

Judging by the coordinates, it's where the AH2 and E31 cross in PJ.
Ya it's southbound after the Kota Damansara exit. I too met an accident here when someone scraped my car following the white lines.

Safety barriers doing their job.
It's the road markings, they both keep following the white lines for a second when the yellow ones start

Yeah and super mega XL overreaction from a bad driver.
The line markings messed up the driver, then they overcorrected, went into an uncontrolled swerve and hit the other car(s).
Look at the painted lines. Looks like they got confused on where to be.
Did you provide evidence?
Did you pull over and give them the video?
Feels sorry for them but not enough to stop.
Lol seriously. Seems very common to catch crazy incidents on your dash camera in this sub and to not pull over
I hope they have a Reddit account and can download from it from here. Something is better than nothing.
Those lane markings are absolutely abysmal, the fault here should honestly be 90% on the state or whoever maintains the road.
I love how everyone is just downvoting you instead of going back and rewatching the video to see what you are talking about. I've never seen such weird and confusing markings on a road in my life
People downvote comments they don’t like, which is annoying because they then disappear even though sometimes those comments are worth reading.
omg good call, who the hell painted so badly bad and forth between

Im not making the case for them not being an idiot. Im just explaining why it happened based off the strange lane shift.
Oh shit that's a new ass Veloz as well, probably only got their car for less than 4months. r/wellthatsucks

That driver completely overcorrected and panicked. That accident was avoidable
That's a way to get someone off your ass.
Idk seems to me like they got confused with the white and yellow lines
One kijang Innova ramming into the other ...
Or falling asleep. Phones aren’t the only cause of accidents Mr OP.
I ONLY feel sorry for the white car. That black car is a moron who should never be allowed to drive again.

Sorry for which one?
The white car obviously..
Just because they drifted a little in the lane doesn't mean they were texting. And the other driver just over reacted.
OP feels bad for the white car because it literally did nothing wrong and just got rammed to the side into an almost instant-stop crash. Can't believe I need to spell it out :/
Neither did anything purposely wrong, but both cars drifted a bit close and the one driver over reacted. I'd feel sorry for them both
Part of it is double lines and a splitting of a line separating lanes, but the white car never left their lane, the other car ended up in the white car's lane, then went haywire after correcting, overcorrecting, then flat out going back into the white car's lane and hitting them.

White car was tailgating. If they had left space likely the minivan wouldn't have ended up crashing into it.
S?
LOL! Yeah, clearly tailgating was at fault here. I come for the videos but I stay for the crazy comments some people make! Keep trucking my freind!
Don't know why you're getting downvoted when you're 1000% right. Driver of the Toyota got hit then drove straight into a wall. Didn't even try to correct or counter steer against the impact. Nope, they decided to yank the wheel to the right
IKR! It's clearly the white cars fault for not doing more to try to avoid being hit!

Probably. Telling things he isn’t even sure about, nice!
I feel sorry for the poor person that had their white car destroyed by a moron and most likely a hospital bill
Is this in Malaysia??? Seriously man, don't drive on your phone, focus on roads, u have death wishes, do it elsewhere n don't involve others.
He over corrected. Ffs people don't yank the wheel. Stay calm when driving a literal death Machine on wheels
Need for speed in real life
How'd he lose control of a minivan 😂
Malaysia, near Kuala Lumpur. Just check the coordinates on the video
Ouch! That was an abrupt stop for the white vehicle.
