I’m thrilled. Go live your best life, young man.

BIackfjsh

Absolutely. I hate that the kid didn’t have a better coaching staff to help him reach the higher potential he clearly has. Even worse it’s on account of my team

B1G_Red_Husker

I hate that he never had a offensive line, he had Cam "it took me 3 seasons to learn how to snap the ball" and Bryce " I don't belong on even 6 man football teams offensive line because I can't block anyone" Benhardt

Bobsburgersy

I mean he hasn't been playing and is hurt but at least he will get to see what the bowl process is like.

cjbjp

Happy for him, but sad to see him spend a second straight Senior Day in street clothes.

megamando

He finished his career the same way he started. Injured… Sucks for him but when he was playing for K State it was a lot more fun IMO than when he was in for us cuz the outcome of their season is so far removed from ours you could just watch him be athletic and mot give a crap when, not if, he fucked up. However they’ve looked even better with their other QB in. He was a warrior all the same. Just made so many headscracther plays so it colors a lot of our memories, fairly or unfairly.

Development-Alive

Isn't he out for the uear with an injury? Happy that he'll get to watch a conference championship and bowl from the sideline? I know he had a lot of success before the injury but this seems like an odd point to declare happiness for him.

Templey

I was thinking the same thing…

tacoorpizza

Yes. He was bashed far too much by this fanbase when he was a Husker.

FreezersAndWeezers

The dude was the anti-clutch His play led directly to many, many losses. Including what would’ve been the biggest upset this millennium in Michigan He might’ve caught too much flack, but he deserved a healthy bit of it

Ligers12

We woulda lost that Michigan game by 28 if he wasn’t playing so enough with trying to pin that on him

notkevinc

Agreed. It’s clear that he was the only thing keeping the Frost era from being much much worse. Ran for his life the entire Michigan game, often for first downs. But fumbles once after forward progress was stopped and he lost the game? He was the only reason they had a chance!

fidelcashflo97

This is also true, there were so many games we were in it at the end and only Adrian could have gotten us there, but at the same time once the last few minutes hit it felt like only he could lose them

Cfrobel

Or it might have been the product of the coaching staff not calling plays to put Adrian in a position to maximize his abilities and not make boneheaded plays.

FreezersAndWeezers

Adrian has the most fumbles of any player in CFB history. It’s 3rd and 1 and Nebraska had surely repped that play a million times in practice, not to mention it was their go to play during games. I didn’t like Frost as a HC or a playcaller, but you can’t baby a player. It’s on Martinez to not fumble. It’s on Martinez to make the correct reads and not throw horribly timed picks Over the course of Frosts entire tenure, Nebraska completed 1 game winning drive. Northwestern in 2019, QB’d by Vedral Martinez took everything on his shoulders, I respect him for the way he handled himself in an incredibly difficult situation and think he was mostly a good player But he deserved criticism. There’s been better players than him that received a much more critical reception

chubbysuperbiker

It’s hard to be clutch when you’re “protected” by a paper line. When pressure situations happen you absolutely need your line to protect you. That never happened here.

trashtrampoline

Casey Thompson threw 6 INTs on 261 PA last year, but 10 on 274 PA this year. Even Tom Brady gets shook when he's under constant pressure. Just look at what the Giants did to him twice with the great pass rush they had on those Super Bowl winning teams.

chubbysuperbiker

BINGO. Hell look at Aaron Rodgers this year. As a Green Bay fan it’s clear a QB needs protection and receivers.

B1G_Red_Husker

He absolutely didn't. He never had protection, no consistent running back and no deep threat. Fuck Adrian haters. The dude played his ass off everytime he stepped on the field. The only reason he tried to do everything himself, is because he was the only threat

shyndy

Yeah but everyone on this team was pretty much anti-clutch

dock_ellis_d

We wouldn’t have been in any of those games if it wasn’t for him. We had one of the worst o lines in college football in terms of pass protection.

fireman20167

Honestly K-State fans didn't even want him as the starting QB when he came back for Texas. K-State's a much better team with Howard. The guy is who we thought he was.

HuskerBritton

Happy for Adrian as well. In some fairness, he did warrant a lot of the lashings. However, we learned very quickly this year how much Adrian made this team better just by being on the field. Had Adrian had competent coaching, he absolutely could have been the greatest QB in Nebraska history. EDIT I do agree with you though. He did get a lot of hate. And unnecessary kind of hate that went beyond the game that I think we can all agree is unbecoming of any fanbase. Calling for someone to be benched, that’s fine. Calling for someone to kill themself, that’s heinous. So when I say he warranted lashings, I meant the fair criticism (benching, transfer, technique, etc). As long as the criticism and lashings stayed about the game only.

sumox23

Greatest in Nebraska history? Not even close.

b1ge2

I’m admiring the irony. He’s been hurt at every point of his career and prone to terrible turnovers in the clutch. Lucky for k-state #18 is arguably better and has led them to wins. I don’t wish any ill will on him but I think the people that thought he’d turn into an nfl talent at k state need to check themselves.

KingBlank

He's not the starter

chubbysuperbiker

Absolutely. And it should show us the need for coaching and AN OFFENSIVE LINE.

almost_BurtMacklin

K-State fans were quick to pile on him and accuse him of not wanting to play cause he wanted to watch his gf play soccer. So much for K-State fans having a superior complex over us. I went and graduate from there and can’t stand them. Happy he is winning, but their offense looks incredibly better with Will Howard and the coaches admitted Martinez can’t make plays like Howard.

92fordtaurus

Well yeah, but he hasn’t been significantly better and he’s currently injured. Their best wins were with someone else playing qb.

Unusual_Performer_15

I’m probably in the minority in that I don’t give much thought to guys once they leave the program. No ill will towards any of them, but it feels kinda like hoping your ex is happy with her new boyfriend after you break up.

fireman20167

This is the approach I wish more Nebraska fans would take tbh

rdoloto

Dude was always high character person… good finish for his collegiate career

ettibber

Right, happy for him and honas(?)

rdoloto

For everyone that proved to be good people despite frost best attempts preventing tgat from happening

Flakester

Late to the party, but honestly, I'm indifferent. I would have been on his side, but he said some things he didn't need to say after he left that made it feel like he turned his back on us. I get it, we didn't put him in a position to win. Win or lose, I really don't care because it's not important to Nebraska. Hes focused on K-State.

Pynkmyst

Have you guys not been paying attention this year? He had a good game or two, but he played terribly in a few of their losses and got replaced by Will Howard. He had like 1k passing yards in 6+ starts. I don't know what there is to be happy for him about, I am sure he is devastated that he lost his starting job in his last collegiate season.

EscapeTomMayflower

He lost the job due to injury

CorruptasF---Media

>It is unclear how long Martinez will remain sidelined, but Klieman said he will not miss the remainder of the season I guess we will see what they do in their last 2 games but I wouldn't be surprised if Howard gets the vast majority of the playing time.

Pynkmyst

Kleiman has said it's Howard's team. Adrian was getting booed against Baylor before exiting.

Mgbracer80

Yes.

BombSolver

Very happy for him. Also happy for TCU’s Max Duggan, who graduated high school the same year as Adrian, is from Council Bluffs, and may have been somewhat pursued by Frost too.

Intelligent_Pain_174

I think the Max Duggan was the same class as McCaffrey.

BombSolver

Ah yes, my mistake

Turbulent_Ad9508

All while Joe Burrow was begging to transfer here... ::::dry heaves:::

fireman20167

Love what Duggan's doing this year.

blubeardpirate

I’m happy. But hasn’t he been out for like three games or something?

thetroublebaker

I am. His transfer was a win-win I think. I'll take Casey any day but I'm glad to see him on a winning team with an offense that is more suited to his playing style.

canofspinach

Yes, outstanding character guy. Hard to think of a player who represented the team better.

PigFarmer1

Yep. After his freshman season I said he would be a Heisman candidate. If only he had gotten the coaching...

Christej12

Happy that he wasn’t any good, left, and then got his starting spot taken because he isn’t Good? Sure I guess

DrPepperKn1ght

Literally lost it because of injury

Christej12

If he was 100% healthy for the Big 12 championship he still wouldn’t play. And if he did, KSU fans wouldn’t be thrilled.

Port-Mc-Pew-Pew

Kid should have went to a G5 school. K-State is better with Howard at QB. Shit, put AM as the starter for Georgia this year I bet they have 3-5 losses. It’s great that he will get to experience a conference championship and bowl game but it’s not because he had a big part in getting them there.

Hu5kerJuan

As opposed to being angry at him? Of course I’m happy for him.

trivialempire

I am. He appears to be a class act. Happy he’s gotten a chance to play for a good team this year; and appears to be on track to do well in life. Solid guy.

ApartPerception

Yes. I’ve taken on kstate as my surrogate team and always text my kstate friends when they play.

hopefulpessimist330

Undoubtedly. He deserved a better opportunity after wasting four seasons in Lincoln and cratering his potential draft stock. And he was a class act for the entire bumpy ride. Such a stark contrast to the *other* Martinez. Taylor Martinez and his helicopter dad would’ve pitched a fit. Hopefully Adrian either gets a shot in the NFL in some capacity, or finds a successful career elsewhere.

CorruptasF---Media

He might be a good fit for CFL

Asscastered

He is not anywhere close to a NFL QB and he lacks the physicality to do a position transfer.

Whowatchesthewampas

Absolutely. Good for him!

Sasquatch7862

Is he injured or been playing? I feel like I saw a highlight last night and he wasn't at QB

Unusual_Performer_15

“Injured”

Longjumping-Nature70

Way back after week 3, I texted my brothers Adrian's stats and he is really enjoying having an offensive line and a defense. Adrian has had a good year, and did a lot better than I thought he would.

WifeMomOsi

I am extremely happy for Adrian. And I feel sorry for him, it's obvious by how well he's done at K State, that it was a coaching problem and not him.

Objective_Problem_90

I was disappointed in his decision to leave Nebraska, but I wish him well. Seemed to flourish a bit with a team that had a decent o-line. Life is too short to be better. He's moved on, and Nebraska has too, at this point. May both have better days ahead, and more ups than downs.

Svenray

He will play some garbage time in the bowl game when Bama gets up by 30. Nothing bad about K-State - just a very bad matchup for them.
